Interaction with Guests
We are children's book authors and teachers. Ryan is a licensed tour guide and is happy to share plenty of history and recommendations.
We enjoying chatting with guest about how their staying is going and what their plans are, but generally we anticipate that you are here to see the city.
We live in the Irish Channel, a diverse neighborhood of old New Orleans families and young professionals.
We live 3 blocks from Magazine Street, the biggest shopping and nightlife area in the city for locals. Coffee, seafood, Creole cuisine, cocktails, antiques, art, and gifts will be just steps away, as well as a grocery store and a pharmacy.
Walk a couple blocks more and you are in the heart of the Garden district, a neighborhood famous for its historic mansions. Here you will also find Commanders Palace and a traditional New Orleans cemetery.
Our neighborhood is perfectly situated halfway between uptown (Audubon park, the zoo, Oak Street) and the French Quarter.
During Mardi Gras, we are 8 blocks from the parade route.
Our complementary bikes are the easiest way to explore the city at your leisure. (We have no hills here!)
The French Quarter can be reached by a 10 minute drive, a 20 minute bike ride, a one hour walk, or by public transportation. Catch a bus on Magazine St. or walk 8 blocks to the streetcar and travel with class.
Other Things to Note
Our cats are very friendly. If you do not care for pets who get up in your business, our place may not be right for you.
Always lock the house doors.
Do not leave the bicycles outside without locking them to a sign or bike rack.
We had a brief but very pleasant stay with Grace and Ryan. They have a beautiful and very comfy home as well and 3 lovely and friendly pets. The location was perfect and the backyard was such a nice plus! Would definitely stay again, thank you!!
Grace and Ryan have a charming home and were very accommodating even though we stayed for just one night. Their bicycles really helped us see the best of New Orleans in the short time we were there.
Grace and Ryan made our stay quiet nice. The room was cozy and the bathroom clean. The location was in a quiet part of town with easy access to restaurants, funky resale shops and just a bike ride away from the French Quarters. I'd recommend this place to any friend.
Ryan and Grace were great hosts, made us feel at home, offered us plenty of advice on what to do in town and were kind in every way possible. The house was very nice, great looking kitchen, living room, bathroom. Bed and pillows ware really comfy. Bikes were a definite plus, especially to visit the neighborhood, which has amazing houses and of course, magazine street. We also used them to get to the French quarter (sometimes its impossible to find parking space in there and you want to avoid the traffic and people). Thanks a lot Ryan and Grace for an all across excellent experience.
We arrived earlier than expected on Thursday and Grace was able to let us in and welcome us to our home for the next four days. We loved the home, the animals, and the hospitality shown by our hosts. Our bedroom was quiet, private, and spacious, we had a private bathroom, and we were even provided a small heater which helped on a chilly night. The Irish Channel neighborhood is very cool, a unique New Orleans neighborhood with cool houses and we loved being so close to the Garden District and Magazine St. as well, full of great restaurants and shops in both directions. I personally was glad to not be so close to the ruckus of the French Quarter, and we relied on the bikes and public buses and streetcar to get around, and were impressed with the reliability of the public transit. I think we most appreciated the thorough list of recommendations for bars, restaurants, music and experiences provided by the hosts which allowed us to pick and choose our adventure and ensure that we ate like kings along the way. New Orleans is a fascinating city and I appreciated learning more about it from our hosts, who seem genuinely invested in their guests thoroughly enjoying their stay. I'd recommend any of my friends to stay with them on future trips to New Orleans, and would gladly return myself as I cannot wait to get back to that fine city.
The house is perfectly located in the Irish channel, with easy parking on the street. The pets were friendly and the room comfortable. Perfect place for a quick short visit to NOLA.
We stayed with Ryan and Grace for one night and they were very welcoming. Their house is so nice and clean. We felt extra safe due to the security system. Their cats and dog are so sweet! They gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the city. When we returned from dinner, we had a great time just talking and playing a card game. We would definitely stay with them again!
