Historic New Orleans home with hardwood floors, open layout, brick patio with fire pit, off-street parking, central heating/air, and FREE BIKES! 3 blocks from the shops, restaurants, and bars of Magazine St. Take the streetcar to the French Quarter.
Any adventurous traveler will love our classic New Orleans camelback. The house is spacious with high ceilings and an open layout.
You're invited to enjoy the living room, kitchen, both bathrooms, backyard brick patio with fire pit, 2 bikes, the gated driveway, and the company of our cats.
Our house has two guest rooms, so you many meet other travelers during your stay. The guest bathroom is shared by the two guest rooms.
Our bedroom and office are our private spaces.
We are children's book authors, and we work from home, so we're around to give advice and answer questions. Ryan is a licensed tour guide and is happy to share plenty of history and recommendations. Play your cards right, and he might even show you around...
We may invite you to join us for a drink on the patio, but generally we anticipate that you are here to see the city.
We live in the Irish Channel, a diverse neighborhood of old New Orleans families and young professionals.
We live 3 blocks from Magazine Street, the biggest shopping and nightlife area in the city for locals. Coffee, seafood, Creole cuisine, cocktails, antiques, art, and gifts will be just steps away, as well as a grocery store and a pharmacy.
Walk a couple blocks more and you are in the heart of the Garden district, a neighborhood famous for its historic mansions. Here you will also find Commanders Palace and a traditional New Orleans cemetery.
Our neighborhood is perfectly situated halfway between uptown (Audubon park, the zoo, Oak Street) and the French Quarter.
During Mardi Gras, we are 8 blocks from the parade route.
Our complementary bikes are the easiest way to explore the city at your leisure. (We have no hills here!)
The French Quarter can be reached by a 10 minute drive, a 20 minute bike ride, a one hour walk, or by public transportation. Catch a bus on Magazine St. or walk 8 blocks to the streetcar and travel with class.
Our cats are very friendly. If you do not care for pets who get up in your business, our place may not be right for you.
I stayed here for three weeks while doing research in New Orleans and truly cannot say enough good things about Grace and Ryan and their lovely home. They are both extremely kind and thoughtful hosts and the house is clean, bright, and very comfortable, with free bikes, coffee in the mornings, helpful notes around the house for guests, and spacious bedrooms and bathroom. They are also in a fantastic location - very close to the shops, bars, and restaurants on Magazine St., as well as a quick and easy walk from the bus stops on Magazine and the streetcar on St. Charles. Although the two guest rooms share a bathroom it was never inconvenient and it was fun to meet the other airbnb guests in town. I was completely happy here and give this my very highest recommendation.
We had a great time staying with Ryan and Grace! They have a beautiful and comfortable home in an awesome area - just a couple blocks from Magazine street which has great shops and restaurants. They were very welcoming, offered a great room with a comfortable bed, access to a big kitchen and the main living space, and some great recommendations about New Orleans. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it :)
I wanted to surprise my wife for our 4 Year Wedding Anniversary with a trip to New Orleans so decided to use airbnb to save some money and make our trip that much more amazing! With the help of Ryan and Grace it was even more amazing than we expected! They were so cool to stay with! Their southern hospitality was everything I expected being from the south myself. This was our first time using airbnb so I was a little afraid but they made us feel so comfortable while there! The house was very clean, and gorgeous! They were able to give us tips and tricks to get around town with ease and make the most of our time! The availability of bikes allowed us to travel around town without looking like tourists which was definitely an added bonus. While there, the other guests were awesome as well. We all hung out drinking and playing board games on the colder nights which made it feel more like home than a stuffy hotel! I definitely definitely DEFINITELY recommend anyone considering to travel to New Orleans to book a stay with Ryan & Grace (our new best friends from NOLA!). You will NOT be disappointed! Caution: Their awesomeness might make you want to move there! Thanks guys for a wonderful trip! You guys rock! We will definitely be back!
I honestly cannot say enough nice things about our time with Ryan and Grace. The house is gorgeous, in an excellent location, spacious and comfortable. Staying outside the main tourist district and having access to bicycles allowed us to see parts of New Orleans we would never have thought to venture into otherwise. New Orleans is flat, easy to navigate and with wide roads, making cycling the most ideal way of getting around.
Ryan and Grace were extremely generous with their knowledge of the city and gave us a detailed list of recommendations that did not fail us once.
If you're looking for a more authentic way to enjoy New Orleans the way the locals do this is the place for you.
We had a really lovely stay with Ryan and Grace in their cozy home. They were very welcoming, with great advice on food and music in different parts of the city. We were grateful for their extensive knowledge on numerous off-the-beaten track places to see in New Orleans, which definitely helped us get some insight into the city beyond the French Quarter. We weren't able to use the bicycles but they are a definite plus to get around on; otherwise the streetcar is close by and not only transports you through the city but to another time. All in all, highly recommended!
Adorable bnb run by the nicest people on the planet, probably. Great recommendations, wonderful accommodations. Use of the kitchen is really nice and a great way to save money. The beds were really comfortable. Everything was wonderful.
We absolutely loved staying with Ryan and Grace. The house is far from typical NOLA fare: it's large and roomy, with a very well-equipped kitchen, as befits these two fabuluous amateur cooks. They are children's book authors and self-styled geeks, who take great pride in their city and their home.
We stayed for a week, and got to know them pretty well. Their guide to the city was very thorough, and every one of their food and music recommendations was spot-on. We very much enjoyed spending time with them (and a few of their friends).
Grace made coffee every morning, but they also have a K-cup machine in case anyone gets up early. The bathroom was in great shape. On the nights other people stayed in the other room, we had no issues with privacy or anything else.
The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed. Ryan and Grace left us with a bottle of water and some chips upon our arrival, and took great care to explain the slightly quirky dryer (which was replaced with a new one while we were there).
All in all, I would very strongly recommend anyone to stay with them, but especially if you're open to suggestions, and to meeting two wonderful young people who are finding their dreams.
Lovely house, lovely cats, lovely backyard -- and bikes! This place has everything! We really enjoyed staying at Ryan & Grace's and were only disappointed that we didn't get to meet them because they were out of town during our stay. Even then, they were very easy to contact with any questions we had and left us everything we needed for a great visit.
Ryan and Grace were exceptional hosts. They were committed to making me feel at ease from the moment I arrived. The bedroom was tidy, comfortable, and quiet. Likewise, the bathroom was spacious and clean. The hosts are careful not to disturb your privacy, but are more than willing to engage in spirited/thoughtful discussions, if you're up for it. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for New Orleans runs deep, and is certainly inspiring. Location wise, there are plenty of diverse food, drink, and shopping options available just within walking distance. (The bikes they provide enable an even greater range of selections.) Their two cats are affable, relaxed, and mostly keep to themselves, but are nonetheless warm and receptive to new guests; kind of like Ryan and Grace.
