Jaemu (Steve) and his wife Michelle were fantastic hosts. This was our first time staying with a host family through this service and our experience was wonderful. They were all so kind and welcoming. They spoke great English and were extremely helpful with transportation issues, recommending places to visit, and just making us feel completely at home in a foreign country. The rooms they had for us were very nice, and even our own bathroom. They totally treated us like a part of their family, yet gave us our space to do our own things. I highly recommend them to anyone else and look forward to staying with them again in the future.
We stayed with this host family twice on the same trip, with a couple days in between stays at a hotel closer to our business convention. Please refer to our other review for all the details of this wonderful experience!
It was our first trip to Korea and in a homestay at Jaemu's home and Mapo apartment. Thanks Jaemu and Michelle for your warm hospitality and delicious breakfast at their cozy Hilltop house. For the Mapo apartment it is very convenient to all the shopping districts eg. Dongdaemon and Ewha Women's Uni if you want to shop-till drop (only a few subway stops away). Just find that the bed at Mapo is abit hard for us..perhaps we are used to soft beds. Other than that, everything was perfect! Thanks once again Jaemu and Michelle! See you soon in Korea or Singapore!
Thank you for your valuable comments. Yeah, the bed at Mapo is bit hard that's why I put a camping mattress for you. (Although it is okay for Korean who is used to sleeping on the floor like us, but I know it is bit hard for whom used to sleeping on the bed)
And, sorry for the inconvenience about the check in/out time at Mapo's apartment. I normally set the check in/out time as flexible that means guest can check in/out very flexibly according to the previous / next guest schedule. As you sent a message to me before you came to Korea, you are going to leave at 10am, so I said to the next guest to check in after 11am.
Anyway, hope you had a great time in Korea.
Hope to see you again.
We stayed with Jaemu and Michelle at their apartment in Onsu during our first week in Korea. It was a good way to start our journey as they would give us advice on how to get around the city. Jaemu even helped us with our T-Money cards for the subway. Breakfast was great and we even had Korean dinner one night. During our second week, we wanted to move somewhere closer to the city, and Jaemu kindly offered the apartment in Mapo. This apartment's location is very convenient. Then, our booking dates changed, but Jaemu was flexible enough to accommodate us in another apartment. He was also very kind in helping us move our luggage from one place to another. All of the apartments are very well-equipped and clean. We really appreciated Jaemu's and Michelle's hospitality. Definitely recommend getting in touch with them for accommodation in Seoul.
Jaemu and Michelle have been doing this for a while now. Which absolutely shows by their service and everything provided in their house. They have absolutely everything a tourist coming to Seoul for the first time could possibly need. They helped us with planning our touristic trips and even made us delicous dinner and breakfast! We were so lucky to be able to stay here. Their place is really close to the tramstation but still Jaemu picked us up and brought us to the airport almost in the middle of the night. We really enjoyed our stay here and can't wait to have the whole family Yu over at our place :)
I had an excellent stay with Jaemu and Michelle, and would gladly stay with them again when next visiting Seoul! Their apartment is in a quiet, safe area, and they're warm and friendly hosts. They met me at the subway station when I arrived, and also drove me back to the station upon departure.
I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Seoul! Even though it's a bit out of the way from the prime tourist spots, I consider that a plus, as it's a welcome and quiet retreat after a hectic day of sightseeing and shopping.
When traveling to Seoul in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to stay with Jaemu and Michelle again!!
everything is really good.
the space is clean, neat and peaceful.
The host were really kind.
It's my first time in Seoul and I'm going to Seoul for a school exchange but prior to this, I stayed at Jaemu's home for two weeks for my own trip:) and I really enjoyed my stay here at his place because jaemu, michelle and hee seong are great hosts:) !!! They are really accommodating and always advise my friend and I where to go and what to do around here :) Of course, there was daily breakfast made by Michelle and sometimes Jaemu:) Breakfast was awesome haha for someone like me who can't really take spicy, they tried to accommodate to my taste buds! We had a few dinners tgt when they made awesome dinner for us, went shopping tgt as well as HIKING together :) Jaemu loves taking photographs and takes us beautifully :) So happy that it's my first time using airbnb and I've met a good host family :) WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK AGAIN, affordable and good and really heartwarming family :)
I feel so lucky to have been able to be hosted by Jaemu and Michael. They treat me like family.
The apartment is great. Clean, peaceful and sweet, equipped with anything you might need. Moreover, when you get back from the hustle and bustle of the city, you'll realize how blessed you are to have such a peaceful place to rest. And most importantly, Jaemu and Michael are awesome host. They like traveling themselves, so they know what you'll need. And they are so kind and considerate. Through them you can see closely a real, living Korea. All of that makes the time with their family one of my favourite parts in Korea. Thanks!
P.S. Jaemu speaks perfect Chinese and Michael makes delicious food! Miss you guys!
Jaemu and Michelle are really nice and welcoming when my husband and I are there for our honeymoon cum wedding anniversary. It's easy to get to his place from the subway station. Remember to take the bus (100won per trip) if you don't wanna walk uphill. I especially love the breakfast they prepared for us every morning. Authentic heart-warming Korean family breakfast :)
