  • Joan and Keith couldn't have been better hosts. Their house is very attractive, clean, has a flat screen t.v. with direct tv, and Urubamba is a nice place to stay in the Sacred Valley. They have extensive travel experience and can help out planning local, Peruvian, or travel anywhere in the world. Breakfast was great, with fruit juice, eggs, oatmeal, coffee, bread, etc. They were a pleasure to hang out with, and they took me out to good local restaurants, the central market, and it was hard to leave their little piece of paradise.

  • We loved Joan and Keith! Their house is a jewel in Urubamba! Keith picked us up and immediately invited us to dinner with their expat friends - which we did and had a great time.
Their house is modern, clean, great beds (and sheets!), great bathroom with working hot water, delicious breakfast. Only great things to say.
We got along famously, and really enjoyed staying there and meeting Joan and Keith. We will be staying in touch!
The morning we left, Keith spent the morning with us and gave us a walking tour of the local market and took us to the ceramic studio of the famous potter, Pablo Seminario. We could not have had a better time or a more comfortable stay. We met them later in our trip after Machu Pichu, and they brought our ceramics to Cusco for us. We went to a lovely lunch at a place only a local would know existed.
Little things you will enjoy: unlimited filtered water, clean, clean, clean, great advice, fabulous location in town, nice friends if you're there on a Friday!

I'm British and married to Keith, we have enjoyed travelling for the last 25 years and decided to move from the UK to live in Urubamba Peru in 2012. We loved being surrounded by mountains and the pace of life is much slower. The locals are very friendly so we have made many friends here. Shopping in the local market is great. There is so much choice and all fresh, most of it grown locally so it hasn't travelled far from field to table. We had a hard choice between our 2 favourite countries in the world it was Thailand or Peru but we chose Peru because of the climate ...it doesn't get really cold in the winter and summers are around 25 degrees so not too hot either, just right for us British! We like to give our guests information and are happy to show them around our town of Urubamba, there are hidden gems that the rushed traveller might miss and we wouldn't want that to happen!
