The Space

This Moroccan inspired bedroom in our spacious apartment affords you: Queen size bed, shared kitchen & bathroom, washer & dryer, AC & Heat, Wi-Fi high speed internet, clean sheets and towels, permit street parking, public transit accessible, and privacy. We are vegetarians, so please no cooking meat here!

One bedroom is ours and has a totally separate access to it so at night you may never know we are there! One bedroom is our converted office space. And the third bedroom is totally, privately, yours!

We are vegetarians and simply ask that no meat is cooked in our home while you are here. Storing it and bringing home leftovers is fine, but cooking it openly is not OK.

The location is highly desirable as it is walking distance to Fairfax and Melrose as well as Beverly Blvd. Additionally we are close to public transit, which can take you either downtown or to Beverly Hills within 20 minutes either direction. It is a great location to bike around as well as walk to nearby spots for dinner or drinks.

We have pets! A skittish and old chihuahua dog named Tiny Tina who is 15 years old and a young cat named Mr. Hensley who is cuddly and playful.

We keep the place very low key and very self-serve, but if there is anything you would like or any questions you have we are always willing to help and answer!

That being said, we would love to have you stay with us!

Guest Access

We have a back patio where some guests like to have a smoke, after dinner drinks, or even sometimes dinners. Our only off limits room is our bedroom, as we just want everyone to feel at home. Kitchen, living room, bathroom all shared space.

Interaction with Guests

We interact as little or as much as you want! Some guests we barely see or know are there, others we see in passing, and others have become friends. We are present at the listing about 99% of the year.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is made up of classic old 4 unit apartment buildings. While lots of young people (couples and families) have moved in, there is still an old sense of community and family left over from generations that have grown up in this area. We are close to Melrose and Fairfax where shopping, restaurants, and bars are bustling, and within walking distance. With that said we are located off the major streets, so at night it is very very quiet on our street. We are close to the Melrose Trading Post (a great Sunday flea market), Canter's (an old Jewish Deli open 24 hrs), The Beverly Center (THE shopping mall), CBS Studios (where "The Price Is Right," and other shows are taped), Farmer's Market & The Grove (more shopping and nightlife of all kinds!), any grocery store you want, any tiny small business boutique you want to discover, and any small restaurant you want to fall in love with.

Getting around

We are close to the intersection of Fairfax and Beverly where you can take a bus North to Hollywood, South to catch a transit to Santa Monica, East to get into Downtown LA, and West to Beverly Hills.

  • Amazing location, I was without a car and had no problem getting the bus anywhere I needed to go. Caitlyn and Nathan are lovely, warm people and I had a wonderful time staying with them, as well as their pets Mr Hensley and Tina! The room is big and comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were both great. I stayed for a month and it felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!

  • Cool people. Very comfy bed and for me the location could not have been better. If I find myself needing to be back in that area I would definitely stay there again.

  • I had very nice time here and I enjoy the place that is next to Melrose av. Walking distance to bars and shops but the house is in a very calm area. I really enjoy my time here.

  • Caitlyn and Nathan are phenomenal hosts, the room was perfect and just as described and the atmosphere in the entire apartment was really cool. I also used their airport pick up and drop off service reserved only for guests and at the price they were charging I can't recommend it more, it just took the guess work out of getting to their place.

The area was great, not far from transport, Sunset Blvd, cool clubs and shops so don't hesitate to give this place a try.

    I give this place a perfect 10/10

    We recommend.

About
We are Caitlyn and Nathan. Caitlyn is a Dancer/Choreographer, Fashion Design student, LA native and LA lover, friendly laughing person who works at Los Angeles magazine. Nathan is a Singer/Songwriter in a band called the Good Listeners, and also a special effects prop builder for movies and teevee and commercials and such. We have a tiny chihuahua rescue doggie named Tiny Tina Thumbelina, the Tiniest of the Ballerinas. She is entirely skittish around new people, doesn't bark, and is missing half her teeth (she's old) so she can't really do anything if she tried to bite! We call her Tina for short. We also have a cat named Mr. Hensley. He is sweet and playful and still young. Together we make art projects, like building quarter scale dolls from movies we like- complete with all the details of their costumes. (Tina and Mr. Hensley don't really help at all with this.) Then we like to sell these dolls. In case you can't tell from the pictures of our place... Nathan is a BIG Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner fan. Harrison Ford is our hero. We're movie fans in general and when you stay here with us you may find us watching some laserdiscs, or special blu-ray editions of either the above mentioned movies, or very very random abstract ones. Wanna know where to go for some good celebrity spotting or catch a great print of an old classic... WE KNOW! ASK US! Together we are also mostly vegan, entirely vegetarian, recyclers, and tend to use our bikes when the weather is nice... which it usually is. We cook at home a lot, and if there is anything in the fridge you see that you like, you are welcome to it. We make a huge pot of popcorn on the stove (the old fashioned way!!) almost every night. You are welcome to this, too. As your hosts we are super low key... We want you to have your space and privacy as that's what we would like if we were you. On the other hand, whenever we are home we welcome some good conversations and any questions! You don't have to feel shy or be a stranger, but if that's what you prefer, we won't bug you! Also, maybe it goes without saying, but we can't stand terrible questions and boring conversations. But you feel the same way and that's why you kind of want to stay with us, right?!
