The Vacation Home:
This home offers an open floor plan with large open living room and dining room, and a beautifully upgraded and fully stocked kitchen with all the equipment you need to cook a homemade feast! Three bedrooms are on the second floor, a master bedroom with a California King bed, a spacious walk in closet and attached bathroom, the other two bedrooms (one with a Queen bed, the other with a Twin-over-Full bunk bed) share the second upstairs bathroom. Additional sleeping space includes living room couches, and/or air mattresses which can be setup in the living room and/or King bedroom. This home will easily sleep 8, 10-12 if people don't mind air mattresses. If you wish to sleep more than 8, please message me so we can work out the details and I can ensure you'll be comfortable.
I've supplied the house with everything I can think of to make sure your stay is pleasant and comfortable. I'd be glad to make local restaurant, attraction, museum, etc. recommendations.
If there's a particular item or two you feel you need in a vacation rental which I have not mentioned, please feel free to let me know. Chances are it's already here, and if not I'll let you know if I can get it for you by the time you arrive.
You will have access to the entire 3 bedroom home, and pretty much everything you'd expect to come along with it. Includes free laundry, free off street parking for at least 2 cars (we can discuss a third if you think it'll be necessary), cable TV, Netflix, high speed wireless internet... basically the works. If there's anything you're curious about just let me know, chances are it's included.
Interaction with Guests
I live next door so I am generally available during your stay if there's anything you need. I will also provide you with my cell number in case there's anything you need mid-stay. I'd be glad to drop by to help get you settled in, make local recommendations, etc.
This property is in the Atwater Village neighborhood of Los Angeles, centrally located between Hollywood, Glendale and Silverlake. This is a very walkable neighborhood and a great place for people of all ages to have a fantastic getaway.
If it's more of a big city trip you're looking for, you are conveniently located within a a few miles of much of what LA has to offer: Hollywood, Silverlake, Pasadena, you name it!

Other Things to Note
I try to leave some basic food items in the kitchen including pasta, jam, peanut butter, condiments, oil & vinegar, salt, pepper, spices, etc. These are for your use so please don't feel shy using them. In return, if you have extra non-perishable items left at the end of your stay, please consider leaving them for the next guests.
This is a nice, quiet, safe, and secure neighborhood and I expect my guests to maintain that image at all times. You are welcome to have a good time but please respect the neighbors and keep outdoor volume to a minimum in the late evening and at night. It is fine to come and go late at night, just please be respectful.
Small dogs may be allowed upon request, and will require an additional cleaning fee. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture. Sorry, but no cats, birds, reptiles, etc.
Families (including small children) are strongly encouraged. This would be the perfect place for a family trip. I have some baby things like high chair, safety gate for the stairs, etc. Just let me know you'll want them and I'll get them out.
Smoking is not allowed in the building or near the doors or any open window. Guests may smoke on the front patio as long as the window is closed, or in the parking area. Buts are to be fully extinguished and placed the ashtray or trashcan.
Please treat my home as you would your own. I have a professional cleaner to do sheets, towels, empty trash, vacuum, etc. But please clean any large messes, wash dishes (there is a dishwasher), return furniture to it's original place, and place trash in the cans (either inside or outside) prior to checking out.
The thermostat is generally set to heat if below 68F and cool if above 75F (20C/23.5C). At night it will adjust to a range of 65F to 77F (18C/25C) between 11pm and 7am. If you are uncomfortable with these temperatures, please let me know and I can adjust the schedule for you. You are welcome to open windows and doors, but please make sure they aren't doing the opposite of the thermostat (i.e. if the AC is on and it's hot outside, do not open windows until it cools off outside and is cooler than indoor temp).
Events and parties are NOT allowed unless prior approval is given. Low key events such as a post-wedding brunch (which we've had a couple of), or hosting family and friends for a casual BBQ or dinner, are generally going to be fine. Once it starts to sound more like a party, it's probably not going to be ok.
My home is available for filming, but understand that you'll be paying significantly more than the regular rate due to the extra people, risk, utilities use, wear and tear, etc. You will of course need to have all the proper permitting, insurance, equipment, your own generators, stunt coordinator if necessary, etc. All filming activities must take place between 7am and 10pm, may not block traffic, and may not take up space outside the property line (sidewalks, road, neighbors property, etc.).
We really enjoyed our stay here. This was our first experience with Airbnb and we are very happy with our choice. There was lots of room for our family and friends to gather. Owen and Ashley supplied us with a lot of unexpected incidentals and were like one of the family. We hope they enjoyed the taste of Cajun food that we shared with them which was easy for us to cook in the well supplied kitchen. The house was centrally located, easily accessible to the major highways, and shopping areas were just down the street. We will definitely rent here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the Los Angeles area.
The landlord is very warm, will take the initiative to inform the surrounding living facilities! House is very big, all facilities, living here is very comfortable. Will come to Los Angeles to live again!
Owen and Ashley are great hosts! They had the place ready for our arrival and made sure that we knew how to get situated in LA. They stopped by to check on us and made sure the accommodations suited our needs (they even fixed a shower malfunction during our stay, all within a few hours). The house was a perfect meeting place. We absolutely loved the outdoor seating for evening dinners in sunny SoCal. I would highly recommend this house and these hosts.
This house truly was a blessing to our family last week. The home was beautiful, spacious, clean, and conveniently located to everything (including a Starbucks!). The extra ameneties, though, were the icing on the cake- linens, towels, laundry detergent, hand soap, aluminum foil, etc. These are things that you don't want to worry about when traveling and were MUCH appreciated. Our family of 6 (including two kids) thoroughly enjoyed the home and loved our stay. We have family in the Atwater Village/Glendale area, so we will definitely be contacting you again for future visits. Thank you, Owen and Ashley, for providing us with the best vacation home we could have imagined.
This was just a wonderful all around experience! The house is big and very comfy. Our host Owen was very personable and made us feel very welcome. Location is fantastic, centrally located to visit all area attractions. Can't recommend it highly enough and would definitely stay here again!
Very nice house. Well appointed and comfortable. Great location to walk to restaurants, wine shops, bakeries, etc. Short drive to nice grocery. Owen and Ashley were friendly but not intrusive (they live in the rear of the house.) I would definitely rent this house again.
About the Host, Owen & Ashley
I live next door with my girlfriend, and care for this home as if we lived in it daily. I am available in person and via phone during your stay, and strive to ensure you have a wonderful time in my home.
I grew up in the small town of Ashland Oregon (home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in case you're wondering why it rings a bell), moved to LA in the 2000's, and graduated from Occidental College with a degree in organic chemistry... which I use to make homebrew in my spare time.
I'm the guy who works to live, rather than lives to work. I clock my regular 40-hour work week but that's just the beginning. In my free time I like to ski, scuba dive, bike (bicycle and motorcycle, though I've recently given up the motorcycle), and brew beer. I'm also known as a foodie, nerd, and geek... Basically I'm up for just about anything, and strive to enjoy life to the fullest.
I love to travel, share good meals with friends, check out new local attractions, and see what adventures life takes me on. On any given night you might find me enjoying one of LA's newest restaurants, brewing a new beer recipe, sitting around chatting, or programming into the wee hours.
I take pride in this home and want it to have everything you may want for your perfect home away from home. I've thought long and hard about what it takes to make a great vacation home, from Q-Tips and nail clippers in the bathrooms, to restaurant menus in the guest book. And of course there are always fresh towels and sheet in the bedrooms. Additionally, if there's something you would like, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I really am looking to have everything a good vacation home should have, so if you think of something, even if it seems like a long-shot request, send me a message and I'll work on getting it in before you arrive if it's in my budget.
I suppose that's enough for now. Feel free to message me with any questions.
Closest gas station.
Wine/beer shop with a (rather hidden, and awesome) tasting room underground that serves light food and great beer/wine flights. A nice place to grab a nice bottle of wine or relax after a long day.
Self described as "best lattes & crêpes in an artistic atmosphere." I had one of the best crêpe of my life here (outside of Paris). Also serves good sandwiches. Open 7a-11p daily (midnight Fri-Sat).
Not your average liquor store. This place has the most amazing selection of craft beers I've ever seen. They've also got a great selection of small batch bourbons you won't find elsewhere.
Charming coffee shop. Great pastries, sandwiches, tarts, etc. Pastries are baked several times a day so they're always fresh. Coffee is great as well. Good place to relax with a book. 8a-4p except Mon
Pub with great locally crafted beer (12 local taps), and specialty cocktails. Food is Mexican/BBQ fusion. Open late daily except Monday. Kitchen closes earlier, usually around 11p.
Farm-to-Table corner store with local produce, food & snacks. Has many vegan options. Also stocks nuts, dried fruits, meats, health & beauty, and many "Made in California" products. Open 10-7 daily
Modern and very creative cuisine using local farmers market ingredients. Fantastic brunch menu Sat & Sun, and open for dinner daily except Monday. Be sure to try the house-cured bacon, it's amazing.
Outdoor market open Sun 10a-2p. Fantastic place to pick up fresh produce/meat/eggs/etc., pick up a quick bite to eat, or shop for locally made treasures such as soaps, lotions, honey, and much more.
Tennis courts available to rent by the hour. Only about a mile's walk from the house along the LA river and a nice foot bridge across the freeway.
Park, fountain, and art memorial to William Mulholland, the director of the LA Dept of Water who built the aqueduct that allowed LA to become the city it is today. Can be reached via a 1.25 mile walk.
Pinkberry isn't the greatest frozen yogurt in my opinion (go to Yogurtland for that), however it's close-by and a fun experience if you've never been.
Cheese, wine, and chocolate shop with a great little attached cafe. I had one of the most amazing truffle brie cheeses of my life here!
Fantastic hole-in-the-wall with massive sub sandwiches, and pizza. The type of place local police, firefighters, EMTs, etc. frequent, so you know it's good! I suggest The Italian. Open 10a-9p daily.
Upscale grocery store with a great selection of fancier foods and lots of hard-to-find items. Large selection of both fresh and frozen pre-made meals. Not quite full supermarket in my opinion.
Full service supermarket only a mile away. Has a nice deli and catering services, flowers, salad bar, etc. Gelson's is basically a slightly more upscale version of Vons, Ralphs, Safeway, etc.
Local bar with good mix of dive and class. Haven't tried the food but apparently it's good. Pretty noisy, and more standing type of place. A good place to hang out with a group. Open daily 11a-2p.
Scottish style fine dining in a charming cozy old world atmosphere. Operated for over 90 years by the same family as the famous Lawry's Prime Rib. Open Mon-Thur 5-9p, Fri 5-10p, Sat 4-10p, Sun 4-9p.
Full service supermarket a little over a mile away. Basically the same as Vons, Safeway, etc. I suggest the Gelson's Market on Hyperion though, it's closer and better quality, little more expensive.
Great New York style pizza available for dining in, take-out, or delivery. Lots of gourmet toppings: eggplant, goat cheese, feta, carnitas, prosciutto, balsamic reduction sauce! Open daily 11a-10p.
It's nothing particularly special, but it's there, and nearby if you need it. Open Mon-Fri 10-8:30, Sat 9:30-6, Sun 10-6.
Full service supermarket a little over a mile away. Basically the same as Vons, Safeway, etc. I suggest the Gelson's Market on Hyperion though, it's closer and better quality, a little more expensive.
Griffith park offers many awesome adventures, one of which is the Merry-Go-Round. A great activity to do with kids.
There are dozens of hikes, and great places to get the iconic Hollywood Sign photo. I can point you in the right direction because many of the best places to see it are hard to find.
Upscale outdoor shopping mall. Feels a little like disneyland with fountains choreographed to music, sparkly lights, etc. Many restaurants & shops like Apple, Tiffany, BCBG, Nordstrom, Cole Haan, etc
Closest megaplex theatre. Located in the Americana at Brand, an upscale outdoor shopping center. Great quality theatres and they always show the newest releases. Free parking with theatre validation.
Beautiful views of the city from within Griffith Park. Starting point for many beautiful hikes. Observatory admission is free, parking can be tricky. Open 12p-10p Tue-Fri, 10a-10p Sat-Sun. Closed Mon.
A great place to take the kids for the day.
A great hidden gem. See trains of all sizes and ages in this railroad museum in the middle of the park.
Rent horses for a ride through Griffith Park
See the space shuttle at the California Science Center! It's only about 10 miles away. Reservations required weekends and holidays.
