About This Listing
Do weird things make you cry? are you clumsy, hungover or jet lagged? Yeeaah....you probably need a good nights sleep. This bungalow delivers! Central to everything but quiet in the evening. C'mon and get pampered! Read listing first.
Neighborhoods are awesome! And old southern porches are sweet places to sip a cold one or two.
This Bungalow was built in 1920. The year that Jazz blossomed, Art Deco peaked and so did Prohibition and "the Flapper". Good times!
The suite offers nice linens, towels and a relaxing atmosphere in a very private space located upstairs away from other rooms in a slightly large but sweet bungalow in the historic Evergreen District, five minutes from downtown and within walking distance to the Levitt Shell, Overton Park, Brooks Art Museum, the Memphis Zoo, Overton Square and the Cooper-Young area as well.
The suite has an attached private bathroom w/ shower and bathtub and also a ceiling fan directly over the bed and a desk as well. There are racks for your suitcases and a closet ready for your clothes. The bathroom has several drawers to store your toiletries in for easy access.
There is a cabinet in the bathroom with a green glass handle that has several lotions, sunscreen, shampoo, etc for you to use if needed.
There is another room downstairs listed under "Vintage Room for Solo Traveler" I only open that listing occasionally but just wanted to mention that there might be other folks staying here during your stay from time to time.
You can park in the driveway right in front of the entrance and the keychain has a push button flashlight for ease and of course the porch light would be on if you arrive in the evening.
Overton Park is a few blocks away and is a great place to walk if you want to stretch after a long drive. There is a FREE concert series coming up in mid May. This is an incredible venue and all the concerts are amazing as well. They are Thursday -Sunday. Just walk down the street! Search the Levitt Shell for information about that.
If you read reviews that mentioned breakfast it's probably because the guest paid extra or stayed for several days and I included a light one on their last day.
If you would like a full breakfast with fresh squeezed juice, fresh flowers in your room and daily baked homemade cookies. Please search the Memphis airbnb listings again under "The Dandelion" and make your reservation there.
Whatever choice you make, I'm sure you'll be happy.
If you're vegan, let me know in advance. It's nice to know for restaurant recommendations or if I need to make almond or walnut milk.
Feel free to stretch out, put your feet up, grab a book, wrap up with a throw in the living room or library. It makes me happy to see my guests feeling comfy here. That's what makes airbnb stand out from hotels right? and yes, cliche as it sounds. Mi casa es su casa!
re driving, I offer my navigation system to make it easy to get around the city. It's a pretty easy city to navigate anyway but every little bit helps.
If you're without wheels you can take "Memphis Hop". The trolley is great but it's limited to where it will take you. This service will take you to all major attractions and offers discounts as well, it's kind of a win-win. You can catch the shuttle down the street at Overton Park.
There are walkable music venues near here such as The Hi-Tone, Stonewall Hall and of course The Levitt Shell. Also there are some eateries, a great gift shop and a yoga center as well and more. Keep in mind that wed-sat offer better music choices.
As far as interaction. If you come in after a night out and I'm in the kitchen, it seems rude of me not to ask how your night went. So I usually do but I have no interest in monopolizing your time. It's not that I don't enjoy chatting with guests, I do but I feel I'm pretty good at reading people and would hope you could do the same for me as well. Yes, we hosts enjoy our guests but also are on our own programs as well at times.
Feel free to ask me any questions. Hope to see you in Memphis :)
Midtown boasts the best restaurants and music venues in Memphis. It's where the locals eat. You are a tourist but you don't want to eat like one!
Ask me for tips. I love to share.
No candles upstairs and smoking only allowed on the screened porch in the front. Also, I ask that you don't use ink pens in the bed.
no surprise guests.
no reefer smokage.
Taryn is a lovely host. Her home is beautiful, inviting and full of southern charm. Not only was it pristinely clean and colorfully decorated, it carried a story all its own. Meeting Taryn was the highlight of my stay, as I was inspired by her thoughtful attention to detail and creative culinary genius. Imagine walking into a vintage magazine style room with open windows, fresh flower vases and a fresh baked cookie in your nightstand...you've just arrived at Taryn's Memphis bungalow:) I guarantee when you leave, you'll want to relive the moment in time and visit as often as possible. Trust me, I'm already planing my next trip!
Not enough superlatives to describe our amazing stay with Taryn. Warm, welcoming, peaceful, comfortable like staying with a dear friend that you love visiting and who happens to be an amazing baker and chef! She thinks of every amenity and small detail to make you feel pampered.
The Best. Hurry and book this place.
We are a couple of seniors from Boston, who travel a lot and have our own apartment that we rent out in Jerusalem, Israel. This stay was a wonderful and pleasantly surprising experience for us. The room was impecably clean, the bed comfortable and had a lot of extras that we did nor expect including the home made fabulous cookie that Taryn makes. Taryn was most friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a couple of long chats with Taryn sharing various life experiences and interests. The location is also and easy ride to many places in the area. Too bad we could not stay longer.
Sometimes you will stay somewhere which is nothing short of being exceptional, guess (email hidden)is is the one! Taryn is the best host we've ever met and unlikely to be beaten to that title in a long time. The house is superb, a beautiful comforting home which welcomes you from the moment you arrive. Combine the location, the ease of access to downtown and any attraction you might wanna visit and you have it all! Don't hesitate booking, you'll be delighted!!!
I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said but Taryn is a wonderful host. She is really attentive and anticipates the guests' needs so well. Her cookies and biscuits are delicious! The house is immaculate and the room & bed so comfortable. If we're ever back in Memphis, we'll definitely stay with Taryn again.
I can't say enough GREAT things about my experience here!! The room was beautiful, the bed extremely comfortable, the space very clean, and the attention to details in decor and overall setup was superb! Taryn was nothing but helpful and accommodating during my stay!! I really can't recommend this space/host enough, I want to go back already!!
I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay with Taryn! She is incredibly welcoming and has created a beautiful place to stay. The guest room is the only one upstairs, and is great for relaxing and catching up on sleep! There's also an awesome front porch that's perfect for breakfast in the morning or drinks in the evening. If you're in Memphis, be sure to stay here!

About the Host, Taryn
I managed a few B&B's for several years before coming to Memphis and thought it would be fun to have my own. Though not exactly the same, there are many perks that are similar. I have a small cookie business/hobby that keeps me pretty busy and I seem to host almost every day. Also I'm a session vocalist. But don't worry, I promise not to break out in song while you're here . My work as a food stylist and catering business owner has served me well over the last few years. It also helps me recommend the best restaurants in not only Memphis but Nashville as well. My diet pretty much consists of organic green juices and cookie dough......yep. it's true!
Spain has been my favorite trip so far. My favorite exercise is floating in lakes or the ocean. I guess it doesn't really count as exercise because I'm super buoyant. I love Tennessee because it's has not one but THREE music cities and that makes it pretty special :)
Just one block away. Get a message or enjoy some yoga. I highly, recommend Evergreen Yoga!
Great jewelry, cards, art and more! Lot's of work by local artists. First Class!
A coffee house that also happens to have great food. All homemade. Even the salad dressings and bread!
My favorite restaurant to walk to from my house.
I recommend calling ahead to make sure they will be there. (the band) Great place for dancing, spicy chicken wings and cold beer. to my knowledge the only remaining juke joint in Memphis.
I know, I know you didn't come to Memphis to go to a zoo but The Memphis Zoo is really awesome! voted number one on Trip Advisor.
Listen to grammy nominated artists under the stars for free! So lucky to have such a historical music venue right here in the hood. Located in gorgeous Overton Park! I offer blankets & chairs.
What a gorgeous museum. Right in Overton Park! sigh..I love Memphis =)
I recommend the pulled pork also the BBQ bologne! (not for the faint of heart ) the walls are the color of BBQ sauce and it smells so good! park in the back.
I highly suggest a reservation for this one. Can be pricy but so worth it. Kelly English named top ten chef.
Perfect for an anniversary or any occasion. Truly awesome, cozy and fabulous!
My favorite place in Memphis! It's an after dark kind of place, ask me for details before going. Mollie's is one-of-a-kind!

I love Sun Studios! Super authentic music museum. Great gift store too. They will shuttle you to Graceland free of charge., Tours begin, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, etc.

One of a kind, literally. So proud to have it here in Memphis! don't miss the buidling in the back where the magic is made. Truly unique art/works. Great view of the Mississippi as well.
I know it's a bit of a drive but I love it! can be a bit of a wait to get a table but worth it.
