Private Suite in Midtown Bungalow

The Space

Hey There!

Thanks for checking out the "Private Suite in Midtown Bungalow".

The Bungalow was built in 1920. The year that Jazz blossomed, Art Deco peaked and so did Prohibition and "the Flapper". Good times!
The suite offers nice linens, towels and a relaxing atmosphere in a very private space located upstairs away from other rooms in a slightly large but sweet bungalow in the historic Evergreen District five minutes from downtown and within walking distance to the Levitt Shell, Overton Park, Brooks Art Museum, the Memphis Zoo, Overton Square and the Cooper-Young area as well......whew, that was long winded!

The suite has attached private bath w/ shower and tub and also a ceiling fan directly over the bed and a desk as well. There are racks for your suitcases and a closet ready for your clothes. The bathroom has several drawers to store your toiletries in for easy access.
There is a cabinet in the bathroom with a green glass handle that has several lotions, sunscreen, shampoo, etc for you to use if needed.

You will have your own heating system that you can adjust to your preference if you like and plenty of warm blankets if you like that super cozy feeling =)

There is another room downstairs listed under "Vintage Room for Solo Traveler" I only open that listing occasionally but just wanted to mention that there might be other peeps staying here during your stay from time to time.

You can park in the driveway right in front of the entrance and the keychain has a push button flashlight for ease and of course the porch light would be on if you arrive in the evening.

Overton Park is a few blocks away and is a great place to walk if you want to stretch after a long drive.

If you read reviews that mentioned breakfast it's probably because the guest upgraded for "The Dandelion" listing or
they were here for several days and it was my way of saying..thanks! and of course if it's freezing outside. I cannot send people out the door traveling in the cold without a little something hot to eat. I've tried. cannot. do. it.

Whatever choice you make, I'm happy either way :)

If you're vegan, let me know in advance so I can whip up some walnut or almond milk in the vitamix. I used honey from my neighbor's bees so it's pretty tasty. Also, I make fresh juices a lot in the Vitmix or smoothies with organic greens and berries. regarding the breakfast upgrade, my breakfasts are pretty decadent but they don't need to be. You just need to give me a heads up if you have allergies, need gluten free, etc.

Feel free to stretch out, put your feet up, grab a book, wrap up with a warm throw in the living room or library. It makes me happy to see my guests feeling comfy here. That's what makes airbnb stand out from hotels right?

re driving, I offer my navigation system to make it easy to get around the city. It's a pretty easy city to navigate anyway but every little bit helps.
If you're without wheels you can take "Memphis Hop". The trolley is great but it's limited to where it will take you. This service will take you to all major attractions and offers discounts as well, it's kind of a win-win. You can catch the shuttle down the street at Overton Park.

There are walkable music venues near here such as The Hi-Tone, Stonewall Hall and of course The Levitt Shell. Also there are some eateries, a great gift shop and a yoga center as well and more.

Send a message if you have any questions or would like any (email hidden)ank you! ^@^

  • This was my first airbnb stay, and Taryn set the bar very high! Taryn's house is beautiful and welcoming, and in a great neighborhood. Very easy to Rhodes & back. The guest suite is absolutely lovely- private and comfortably luxurious. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you for your warm hospitality, Taryn!

  • This suite is even more cozy than it looks in the photos. We only wish we had more time to stay longer! We'll definitely stay here again during our next trip to Memphis.
Taryn is so, so great. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do during our stay. Taryn is just super cool, and we can't wait to return.

  • We had a short overnight stay with Taryn traveling home from a 3 week trip, and wanted to experience a little of Memphis. Taryn helped us pack a lot of the flavor of Memphis into a short amount of time! She's a wonderful host and her home is beautiful, cozy and has lots of character. Her home is in a great neighborhood and within a 5-10 minute drive to most attractions/restaurants. Taryn was also very gracious and willing to work with us through a computer issue we were having. We plan to return and spend more time in her lovely home while exploring Memphis one day soon!

  • Taryn is so great! We enjoyed staying with her so so so much!
The house is so well decorated, beautiful, charismatic and so is Taryn. She is the best host we have had and I would probably go back to Memphis just to have the opportunity to stay with her again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • Taryn was the most amazing hostess. She had great tips on places to visit in addition to having an extraordinary place. Truly could not have asked for a better place!

  • Taryn is genuinely welcoming and gracious, and I can highly recommend her as a host. From the time she greeted us with a warm cookie to the fabulous popcorn she made for us during a NCAA tournament game (Go Cats!), she made us feel at home. Since it was my husband's and my first experience with Airbnb, we really didn't know what to expect. Taryn, though, made us feel like friends. Add to that a charming house and room, comfortable bed and great location, and you have a wonderful alternative to a sterile hotel room. Thank you, Taryn, for everything -- I'm even purchasing some pecan oil for my next batch of popcorn!

  • My roommate and I had a wonderful time at Taryn's on our road trip from Minneapolis. Her house was lovely, smelled amazing, and made us feel totally pampered. This is an amazing deal, and you would be lucky to find a more attentive host!

  • This has been our best stay by far due to Taryn being an amazing host. She was great in communicating with us before our arrival and really made us feel welcome the minute we arrived. She was great to talk to and has a fabulous sense of humour.
Her house is incredibly warm , inviting , immaculate and beautifully decorated , Taryn has impeccable taste and it really shows around her gorgeous home. We could not have asked for more during our stay . The room was incredibly clean , cosy, beautifully decorated with soft linens , fresh flowers , fruit , abundance of soft towels and robes , handmade soaps and the list goes on! She even made us fresh pancakes before we left for the airport at 5am!!
Taryn really went above and beyond what we were expecting and made our stay in memphis incredibly special and we were so thrilled we were able to stay here. I would never consider staying anywhere Else in memphis because Taryn is the ultimate host!

  • Taryn is a lovely host and a fantastic cook. She will go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

  • The hostess with the mostest! We've just got back after spending 4 nights at this wonderful place. Beautiful house in a lovely setting in mid-town, not far from Overton Square, Cooper Young and the Memphis Zoo. Taryn's hospitality was exceptional. We couldn't have met a kinder and more thoughtful person. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She is also a very creative and talented individual, so the house was very tastefully decorated. Can't recommend highly enough.

I managed a few B&B's for several years before coming to Memphis and thought it would be fun to have my own! Though not exactly the same, there are many perks that are similar. I have a tiny cookie business that keeps me pretty busy and I seem to host almost everyday (lucky) :) Also I'm a session vocalist. But don't worry, I promise not to break out in song while you're here or try to promote my latest music endeavor. My work as a food stylist and catering business owner has served me well over the last few years. It also helps me recommend the best restaurants in not only Memphis but Nashville as well. My diet pretty much consists of organic green juices and cookie dough......yep. it's true!
