About this listing
One double bedroom with desk in a lovely 300m2 flat with a fabulous view over the park of Palácio do Catete. The flat is huge, with a large kitchen with all amenities, centrally located in a quiet street and 1m walk from the underground.
The leaving room is ideal to chill before your busy day around Rio and you can check some of the interesting books about the city and its many cultural manifestations.
You will be amazed by the size of the flat and specially by the common areas, including our special deck that overlooks the beautiful garden of the Catete Palace, one of Rio's landmarks.
The living room is very spacious and comfortable, with a large table that seats eight, two sofas and wide windows. The kitchen has all amenities (stove, oven, washing machine, 2 fridges, cupboards, kitchenware). We also take our coffee very seriously and have a special espresso machine and grinder where you can try some of the special blends we bring from the places we travel to or ask friends to bring when they visit us.
We all agree that the best part of the flat is the external area with a wooden deck, a shower and a hammock perfect for a nap after a long day - or a beer in the evening, as we do from time to time...
I usually say that the apartment is at the best location in Rio. It may not be beachfront, but it is within a stones throw of Aterro do Flamengo, a park that makes the joys of those who fancy going for a walk or a run, or even a skate ride surrounded by palm trees and the stunning views of Flamengo beach with the Sugar Loaf on the backdrop.
The apartment is located just 2 minutes walk from Catete tube station (10 minutes to city centre, 20 minutes to Copacabana/Ipanema) with lots of banks, shops, and supermarkets nearby - and my favourite cinema in town at Largo do Machado, the square from where the minibus leaves to take tourists to Christ the Redeemer.
"We" consist of myself, Guilherme and Morena, friends for more than 4 years with a connection to London.
We are all professionals (working with media, advertising and events) and like to keep our flat tidy at all times.
We are also all avid travelers and have all used AirBnB while traveling in Europe or in the USA. We also travel a lot during the year, so there may be a chance that you sometimes will have the whole flat for yourself. But we tend to say that the flat is so big that even when everyone is in sometimes you can spend hours without seeing someone...
As the apartment has 5 bedrooms and many common areas, you will always have a comfortable feeling. You will be sharing one of the 3 bathrooms the apartment has and it is also very neat and tidy.
We cherish our lovely home and are always keen to meet new people, eventually over an odd glass of wine or beer and talk about Rio's wonders.
All common areas in the flat.
We love our neighbourhood. The area is nice with lots of shops, banks, restaurants and the best bit is Parque Aterro do Flamengo, a large green area perfect for jogging and walking with the stunning views of the Sugar Loaf just in front and also Flamengo beach. One of our favourite spots is the cultural centre Oi Futuro Flamengo (5 minutes walk from our flat), the building is amazing and it always showcases cool exhibitions, theatre plays, plus the cafe on the top floor is not to be missed.
Lots of bus lines and the underground is just around the corner (10 minutes to the city center/25 minutes to Copacabana/Ipanema).
We're pretty easy going, the flat is big enough so each can have privacy and respect each other.
You can come and go anytime you like, we are very laid back and you'll have your keys.
No parties, but if you'd like to have someone over, must ask first.
You can use the fridge and all appliances in the kitchen, including our washing machine.
From Aug 1 - 31, 2016 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
This is part of the balcony where we use the table to have breakfast and the hammock to relax.
