About this listing
It's seriously awesome, it's way cool, and it's where you should stay when in D. My place is in one of Dallas' best neighborhoods, close to the pulse of the city. You get a whole wing of the house - be as social or private as you like.
Way cool and WAAAAY cooler than a hotel/motel! You can enjoy total privacy with the arrangement I've got in my house. 1 bedroom + private TV room + 2 bathrooms = happy happy traveler! Yep, you get a whole wing of my house all to yourself, so if you're one of the airbnb-ers who's like "I WANT SPACE!", well, this is your perfect hookup. My house is pretty large (over 4000 feet) and located in a wonderful neighborhood, two blocks from White Rock Lake, which is probably Dallas' best feature. Rent a bike to cruise around the lake, or run, or jog, or walk, or sit... whatever, it's a great spot. Lakewood, my neighborhood, was recently named "Best Neighborhood for Wealthy Buyers", which makes it sound all stuffy and high-tone, but it's not like that. We're friendly Texans here, dang it!! As for the wealthy part, well, ask yourself, "If this guy's so loaded, why's he renting out a room in his house?" Exactly!! BUT - you'll be treated like you're a kabillionaire when you stay with me. Super-comfy Beautyrest queen-size mattress, Calvin Klein linens, your own 42" flatscreen TV with DVR recorder (HBO, Showtime, etc.), and TWO bathrooms, great for couples. Your two rooms are located at the opposite end of the house and on a different level than my bedroom, so stay up all night if you want, you won't bother me. And you're totally welcome to use the common areas of the house, including the kitchen, where you'll have your own space in the 'frig for your groceries. High speed wireless to keep you socially connected.
Lakewood has some great restaurants, and is about ten minutes from the kickass night life of Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, Uptown, and downtown Dallas. About a fifteen minute walk to the bus line if you don't have a car.
This is a no-brainer, airbnb traveler. I promise you'll be happy with your choice. Bring yourself/yourselves, but not your pooch or kiddos. Sorry, I love dogs and kids, but my house is just not geared for either. Other than that, enjoy!
Guests get a bedroom, two bathrooms, and a TV lounge to themselves, but are totally welcome in my kitchen, living room, family room, and both eating areas.
Interaction with Guests
I let my guests make this call. If you're a people person, I am too. If you want to pretty much be left alone, I'll give you your space!
Lakewood is both old and new, with lots of great houses built in the 30's, and a fair amount of new construction as well. The highlight is White Rock Lake, just two blocks from my house. Great restaurants and bars nearby, and just ten minutes to Dallas' hottest night spots.
Bus line is one mile from my house.
Other Things to Note
I'm a friendly, easy-going guy, and I'm confident that you'll feel immediately comfortable in my house.
If you're a slob, you need to stay at Slobby House instead of my place! I'm not militant about cleanliness, but my house is pretty darn nice, and I want to keep it that way. Enjoy the place, but try not to leave behind permanent reminders of your stay.
David was an excellent host! He met us when we came into town, and gave us the rundown of the house (which is stunning, btw). He had a list of places, and even messaged me to tell me about another during our stay. The house is in a great part of town, close to so much to do! A great host, and I will definitely try to book his space next time I'm in Dallas!
David was a perfect host. Everything was ready upon my arrival, and he worked overtime to resolve a wireless connection issue for me. His beautiful home was very nicely decorated and well kept. The photos and description are accurate. The neighborhood is just north of the Lakewood Country Club with many of the smaller homes, including this one, undergoing or having undergone major expansions and enhancements into high-end homes. David is a home builder and has done a first-class renovation of this home into what now feels like living in a modern art gallery.
David was very friendly and laid back. We really enjoyed staying here! The place was very clean and a beautiful home to stay in. The location was great as well and we even received a great sheet with tips on places to eat and things to do. All of the details David thought of were very appreciated. We had a perfect stay - thanks very much, David!
Amazing comfort, space, cleanliness, great host, and convenience, overall highly rated and look forward to my next trip there!
David was one of the most welcoming hosts we have stayed with. He got to know us quickly and it felt like he curtailed the experience and suggestions to what he felt we may like. He was such a delight to talk to and eager to share some places we could get some "good eats", but he also gave us plenty of space. He's the kind of host you hope for and he certainly delivers, in who he is and in the space that he provides.
The pictures just don't do the place justice. It is so beautiful and comfy, it felt like home right away. The neighborhood was gorgeous and there were spots to grab toiletries, coffee, a workout or a quick bite to eat merely blocks away. We intend to stay with David when we find ourselves back in Dallas.
Elegant house in great neighbourhood. David is very welcoming. The space is huge and everything is perfect.
David is a great host and the house is very upscale. As a builder David really has a keen eye for detail and design. My stay was way above average. I'm sure you will enjoy the convenient location while in Dallas.

About the Host, David
Need a new house? I'll build you one! I'm a custom homebuilder. Or just stay at my place and save your money for more meaningful stuff, like traveling!! I spend Monday through Friday dealing with cranky rich people, so my weekends are dedicated to forgetting about cranky rich people. You'll generally find me on my bicycle, swimming, running, or figuring out some way to beat up my body at the gym - I'm a triathlete, something I love. I also love CrossFit, rock concerts and music in general, mountains, forests, lakes, Portland, t-shirts, other people's dogs, and dumpy restaurants with great food. Don't have time for vacations, so you can tell me how awesome they are and make me cry. Social guy here, which probably explains me going to five universities before FINALLY graduating. (Wouldn't trade those days for anything.) So, yeah, I like people. Unless I'm building your house and you call me on the weekend - then I don't like you. But I'll definitely like YOU if you stay at my super-cool place.
