About this listing
Come enjoy the Redwoods while relaxing in our wood burning Cedar HOT TUB. Cozy, 1400 sq ft, remote cabin in California Wilderness surrounded by Redwoods, perfect for QUIET, water conserving guests who want to get away from it all and can be respectful to our neighbors and follow all house rules! Limited Cell & no Wi-Fi unless you bring your own hot spot to work off cell towers. NOT a place for Partying! Returning guests, remember to ask about our good guest discounts for returning guests!
Please note that the southern route to the cabin narrows to one lane in spots due to road damage from this year's rain. Also, our driveway is passable but there is a large tree root that you must drive around as shown in one of the listing photos.
Guest count and extra guest fees apply to adults, children, and infants.
HOT TUB Amenity charge - Additional $100 for winter use, $50 for summer use.
Please note, this is NOT a hiking area but a private canyon with nearby neighbors and nearby property lines. Rental is for cabin only and not surrounding area.
Please read ALL the information below as I want you to fully understand our unique cabin. Also, three AirBnB verifications, a completed profile with city and state, and a member profile photo are greatly appreciated. Booking requests should include first and last names of all guests, especially with new Airbnb members. Due to past experiences we now only accept non-smokers. Thanks!
Cozy 3 bedroom cabin with wood interior and open floor plan. Wonderful for couples, families or small gatherings of friends.
Enjoy relaxing inside, making a meal in the full size kitchen, eating at the large dining table or sinking into the sectional couch with a good book or watching the large flat screen TV. Large selection of older DVD's available. Better yet take it outside onto the large deck in the middle of the Redwood Trees!
Or if you'd rather spend the day out exploring, it's a scenic 25-35 minute drive to Aptos or 35 -45 minute drive to Santa Cruz. Both locations have great restaurants, beaches, and shopping. Want to go a little bit farther? Head to Monterey and the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Take a look at our guidebook for more nearby activities.
The kitchen is typically stocked with the basic items for cooking, i.e., pots, pans, cooking utensils, spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, tea and much more. Please help yourself.
Along with everything shown in the photos, also available for your use are additional folding chairs, 1 large rectangular indoor/outdoor table, a large free standing hammock, air hockey table under queen bed upstairs, and an X-box with a few games and a large screen TV across from the twin bed upstairs (this TV does not have reception and is only for the x-box). In case you forget to bring your own, the bathroom is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other sundries.
As with most A-frame houses with an open floor plan, the two downstairs bedroom walls are free-standing. This means the bedrooms are not private and have an open ceiling. The rooms have large open doorways with curtains instead of doors. Bathrooms have folding doors. Also, the upstairs is only accessible by an outside staircase or an inside ladder that goes to a landing with a very short railing.
My concerns for children at the cabin are that they are watched closely on the ladder and the second floor landing, which of course is the favorite place of every child that visits the cabin. The landing has a very low railing which I have kids keep away from. When they are on the landing, I have them sit or be on their knees only. Makes it easy to keep them from leaning over the railing. Another concern for children is the electric wall heaters that are very easy to turn on and get extremely hot.
Kids LOVE the cabin and I am not trying to discourage anyone from staying. I just want to make as many details of the cabin as clear as possible and keep everyone safe.
Currently our water spring is running but if you are there and the water pressure drops at all simply conserve water. We are on a shared spring with our neighbors and if the pressure starts to drop and you continue using water, it will temporarily run out for both the cabin and our neighbors who live there full-time. If the pressure does start to drop, limit flushing, skip showers or take "navy showers" and make all other efforts to conserve water. For back-up emergencies, there is a drinking water dispenser and several 5 gallons jugs of water.
The cabin is down a private, bumpy country road, less than one mile. We travel it in our minivan and Honda Accord, however, I would definitely not recommend it for low riding cars or if you are concerned about road dust or mud puddles when it rains!
I have a "strict" cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you check your dates carefully. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period.
**A larger deposit is required for monthly rentals.
And for our returning guests, please ask about our specials. Thank you so much!
Guests have access to the cabin, driveway to wood bridge, wood bridge and (careful) parking for 3 cars in front of the cabin.
The cabin is surrounded by Redwoods AND nearby neighbors who are not expecting to have guests exploring or hiking on their private property. Please be respectful of our wonderful neighbors to ensure the privacy of everyone in the canyon.

Other things to note
Please communicate and confirm check-in times & key exchange after booking. Please check with me before inviting visitors beyond the number in your reservation. Should there be any problems during your stay, immediately notify me so I can fix it.
Lost key charge - $25
Late check out fee - $50/hour late, very happy to accommodate late check out when I do not have back to back guests and when it is arranged in advanced.
Discounted and Low Cost stays - Returning guests in good standing, I am happy to greatly discount your future stays. Also, I am eager to try having the cabin used by charitable, non-profit or any other worthwhile groups with limited funding that are in need of a quiet place to gather. Please contact me with as much details as possible if you have an interested group that is the right match for the cabin.
Non smokers only - we do not host smokers. Must absolutely be a non-smoker, not even an occasional smoker off the premises.
Extreme fire hazard area - No open flames of any kind, including the fire pit on the deck as the cabin is in an extreme fire hazard area.
Noise - Keep outside noise on the deck to a minimum, especially on deck after 9 pm.
Water usage/septic tank - Minimize water use and don't cause the septic tank to overflow!
Off Limits Areas - Please be respectful of our wonderful neighbors and ensure their privacy by staying on our property which is the cabin, the driveway and the wood bridge. The road into the cabin is for driving only, not walking/hiking, since the road passes through our neighbors' "front yards". The trail by the barn meanders onto our neighbors property and the road going past our bridge is our neighbor's very long driveway, not a walking trail.
Day Guests of Booked Guests, additional charge of $25/day/guest. Otherwise rental is for only you and your booked guests, not your un-booked family, friends, or other guests unless discussed in advanced and paid for through an Airbnb 'alteration'. Also, please provide a first and last names for all guests.
Have a great stay and come back to visit again.
