Cozy cabin in the Redwoods, perfect for quiet, water conserving guests who want to get away from it all! No Cell, Internet, or WiFi service. But if you love nature and relaxing you will be extremely happy!
Please read all the information below as I want you to fully understand the cabin. Also, four AirBnB verifications and a completed profile with city and state (either on line or privately in your email) are greatly appreciated and due to past experiences we now only accept non-smokers. Thanks!
Cozy 3 bedroom cabin with redwood interior and open floor plan. Wonderful for couples, families or small gatherings of friends.
Enjoy relaxing inside, making a meal in the full size kitchen, eating at the large dining table or sinking into the new sectional couch with a good book or watching the new large flat screen TV. (DVD's available there for you to use or bring your own.) Better yet take it outside onto the large deck in the middle of the Redwood Trees.
Or if you'd rather spend the day out exploring, it's a scenic 25 minute drive to Aptos or 35 minute drive to Santa Cruz. Both locations have great restaurants, beaches, and shopping. Want to go a little bit farther? Head to Monterey and the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Take a look at our guidebook for more nearby activities.
Beds - there is a full-size futon bed in one room, a queen bed in the next, and upstairs there is a queen and a twin bed. All linens are provided.
The kitchen is well stocked with the basic items for cooking, i.e., spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, tea and much more.
Available for your use, but not shown in the photos, are six new indoor/outdoor folding chairs, 2 large rectangular indoor/outdoor tables, a large free standing hammock, air hockey table under queen bed upstairs, X-box with a few games and a large screen TV across from the twin bed upstairs (this TV does not have reception and is only for the x-box), and a Graco collapsible baby crib/play pen. In case you forget to bring your own, there is shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other sundries.
Please note that as with most A-frame houses with an open floor plan the two downstairs bedroom walls are free-standing. This means the bedrooms are not private and have an open ceiling. The rooms have large open doorways with curtains instead of doors. Also, the upstairs is only accessible by an outside staircase or an inside ladder that goes to a landing with a very short railing.
My concerns for children at the cabin are that they are watched closely on the ladder and the second floor landing, which of course is the favorite place of every child that visits the cabin. The landing has a very low railing which I have kids keep away from. When they are on the landing, I have them sit or be on their knees only. Makes it easy to keep them from leaning over the railing. Another concern for children is the electric wall heaters that are very easy to turn on and get extremely hot.
Kids LOVE the cabin and I am not trying to discourage anyone from staying. I just want to make as many details of the cabin as clear as possible and keep everyone safe.
Currently our water spring is doing extremely well, our tank is currently over flowing, but if you are there and the water pressure drops at all simply conserve water. We are on a shared spring with our neighbors and if the pressure starts to drop and you continue using a lot of water, it will temporarily run out for both the cabin and our neighbors who live there full-time. If the pressure does start to drop, limit flushing, skip showers or take "navy showers" and make all other efforts to conserve water. For back-up there is a drinking water dispenser and several 2 1/2 and 5 gallons jugs of water. They can also be used for hand washing and dish washing. Again, right now we have more water than we can use.
NOTE- The 2nd bathroom shower is temporarily out of service, but other one works fine!
Trash must taken with you as as there is no garbage service at the cabin
The cabin is down a private, bumpy country road, less than one mile. I still go up in my minivan. However, i would definitely not recommend it for low riding cars or if you are concerned about road dust or mud puddles when it rains!
2 night minimum on weekends and a 3 night minimum on holiday weekends.
I have a "strict" cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you check your dates carefully. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period.
**A larger deposit is required for monthly rentals.
This is a remote property in a redwood forest but has nearby neighbors. It is located on Mt. Madonna in Watsonville.
And if you are a returning guest, please ask about specials for returning guests. Thank you so much!
No open flames of any kind, including the fire pit on the deck, and definitely no smoking, inside or outside, as we are in an extreme fire hazard area.
Sorry but no pets and absolutely no "parties" or drugs. Thank you so much!
Mary was an excellent host. She made contact with me as soon as she was available. She was friendly, helpful and prompt.
Her directions were very clear and helpful. The property is beautiful and just as it was described.
We felt very comfortable and loved the little extras! She left a pie and juice for us in the refrigerator and her emergency pantry was available to us as well. She made us feel at home!!
We had an amazing weekend in Mary’s beautiful home. Mary provided us with everything necessary to have a perfect weekend, from a welcome wine to activity recommendations. It’s a great place to relax, forget time, enjoy a wine on the patio surrounded by nature. We hope to return.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. A relaxing retreat with redwoods and a babbling brook. Perfect getaway. The house was as Mary described and comfortable for the weekend. Mary was very easy to communicate with and accommodating. We would definitely rent again.
The cabin is just as described and we had a really wonderful, special and peaceful thanksgiving. Thanks Mary for the treats!
Great spot! Secluded and just plain beautiful! Another great trip to the redwoods.
We spent about 10 days at that awesome place. The area is quiet and very picturesque - pine forest. We had our breakfasts and evening meals at the deck. Mary, the host, we so very hepfuls and responsive to our needs and questions. I recommend this place to everyone who wants to spent ther vacation at a secluded place away from the city. The cabin has limited water though but that's not big a deal at all.
I'm married and have three wonderfully, active boys. We all love the cabin tremendously, sometimes enjoying it with just our immediate family but often with extended family members and/or friends. We have celebrated anniversaries, graduations, and birthdays there, along with many gathering for no particular reason at all :)
I'm so happy airbnb has given me a way to share the cabin with others who I hope will enjoy it as much as we enjoy it. I look forward to hearing from you, answering your questions, and hopefully meeting you.
