Eric - sorry for the party. i would like to say somethings - you did not mention the severity of it. This is not acceptable at all - and I do want to reiterate for anyone looking to book at our property - PARTIES AND LARGE GATHERINGS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT ALL. Once I did get the message (and yes, I was sound asleep) we did contact the others in the building, and now that we have more detail from Eric, we will take further action. We were unaware that the police were called (Eric never said that), and do understand how miserable this is as we have had similar experiences staying places (as well as with Airbnb guests staying in an apartment where we live a block away). So I am very sorry about this.
As far as heat - yes there is not an adjustable thermostat since this is a circa 1890 building with a large whole house boiler and hot water. The positives - radiators provide good heat and there is on-demand endless hot water, the negative is that some rooms may get warmer than others. If you are someone like me who likes it a little cooler to sleep you may crack a bedroom window, but i will say once January rolls along, warmer is better than colder.
As far as the house being slanted - the house was built right around 1890 and was one of the first houses on the Parkway so it is not unusual at all that an old building is not perfectly plum - so while the issue about the party is an entirely warranted issue there is not much to say about this other than Buffalo is an old city with old buildings which means they will have character but might not be plumb.
