The bedroom is situated in a large condo located in Escazu, an upscale suburb of the capital city of San José, easily accessible from both international and domestic airports, only a short bus or cab ride away from downtown San José, as well as most of the entire metro area.
The condo is quite spacious (3000 square feet). The bedroom is adequate in terms of size and includes a queen-sized bed, two nightstands, and a large mirror. The bathroom (includes hot water in case you are wondering) is shared with one other bedroom in the condo.
Guests have access to the kitchen, cable TV, wireless internet throughout the house, and secure parking.
Additionally, the most upscale shopping districts in Costa Rica are within walking distance (or a very short drive), including Multiplaza, Avenida Escazu, and Plaza Tempo. Supermarkets, Pricesmart, and Walmart are also only minutes away, as is Cima, the most renown private hospital in Costa Rica.
The condo is also within easy access of a large variety of restaurants.
No strangers (i.e. people who did not rent the place) are admitted at the apartment.
I arrived to San Jose having never been here before, alone. The instructions Richard gave me, including the address, the cab fare estimste and the bus option made me feel safe right away in an unfamiliar city. The cab driver called him to get more precise directions and my fare from SJO was lower than expected ($28). The condo is nice. In a quiet neighborhood, gated w a guard. I walked to Walmart, which Google maps says is a 20 min walk. Never felt unsafe; there's a park nearby The water was off at first but by the time I returned from Walmart, it was on. Nice big master shower. I had the place to myself. Refrig, washing machine, atrium, parking. Wikipedia says Escazu is a neighborhood for moderate to wealthy professionals, this neighborhood seemed to match that. I saw Mercedes and BMWs along my walk. Great value. Clean. Sparse. HUGE. Also loved the huge bath sheets instead of wimpy towels you sometimes get at hotels. As this was my first Airbnb stay, I didn't know if other people would show up, if Richard would sleep here or what to expect. In my case, I had the whole place (2 huge bedrooms upstairs, 3 bath, huge kitchen) to myself. I didn't see keys on then other bedroom nightstand the way mine had so I figured I wasn't expecting company. Slept w the window open and listened to the birds all night! Would totally stay here again but it is a ways from downtown.
Rick was great! Great communication. The place was spacious and only a ten minute walk to my dentist. Very secure spot right in the middle of Escazu. Will definitely book this spot again.
This is a really awesome place to stay, and Rick is an excellent host. I effectively had a whole condo to myself in the heart of Escazú, a very short walk from Avenida Escazú. I felt welcomed, trusted, safe, and at home. I highly recommend staying here. I will return.

I'm from Costa Rica, and own several small businesses here, but I enjoy travel. I have stayed throughout Central America, and have traveled in Africa and North America. I plan a trip to South America very soon! Always looking for adventure and opportunity.
