The Space

The Beach Bungalows is a cozy alternative hotel consisting of four raised bungalows built of local, sustainably-grown teak surrounding a palm-fringed swimming pool, and our recently updated backyard "treehouse," all conveniently located near the beach. Our "treehouse" bungalow has an elevated teak sleeping room with screen windows on three sides and a raised ceiling with fan, which allows for the best breezes. (I love to sleep here!!) It is taller than the other bungalows and sits next to a large tree which makes you feel like you are in a treehouse. It can accommodate two twins or a queen size bed. The full bath, with pebble tile shower, commode, sink, and teak and beam closet and dressing area is located downstairs. The fun part is that the stairs to access the bath area are on the outside of the building -- yes, you have to go outside to use the bathroom! So if you like like rustic charm and want something different, the treehouse may be for you!!

In an effort to reduce energy consumption, we decided not to install televisions or air conditioners in the bungalows, but there is a comfortable common area with a/c and a flat screen cable tv in the event your favorite team has a match you just can't miss! We also have free wi-fi on the property, real hot showers, a refreshing pool, and a common kitchen area and bbq grill for guest use. Come kick off your flip flops, stay with us and enjoy all Tamarindo has to offer. Our friendly labradoodle Parker may even bring you a beer if you ask her nicely!

The Beach Bungalows provides its guests with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience beautiful Tamarindo. Close to restaurants, bars, boutiques, and grocery stores and only a few minutes’ walk to the beach, the Beach Bungalows provides a real "get away" feel, with its unique garden setting and visiting monkeys.

In our continuing efforts to be "green," we also use a state of the art water treatment system that allows gray water to be used for irrigation, helping to conserve precious resources, and a water purification system that makes the water from all taps drinkable.

Whether you want to scuba dive, surf the day away, zipline or just take in the sun, Beach Bungalows is the perfect spot to be! We can help you book your adventures and then provide you a comfortable spot to relax at the end of an amazing day. With our magic jack connection, guests can make free calls to the US and Canada.

Let our intimate tropical setting and our "treehouse" be the base for your Costa Rican adventure!

Guest Access

n addition to their private bungalows, guests will have access to our bbq grill and common kitchen area, dining patio, media room with flatscreen tv, netflix and apple tv, free calls to US and Canada via magic jack, free wi-fi throughout, guest laptop, beach bicycles, refreshing pool, and beach towels.

Interaction with Guests

We love getting to know the travelers that come our way! I live on-site and enjoy visiting with guests during breakfast and are available to help plan adventures and answer questions as needed!

The Neighborhood

Some of the things we love about Tamarindo:
Sunsets at the beach
Scuba diving with Agua Rica
Organic coffee at Cafe Tico
Duck Tacos at Wok'nRoll
Pie at Nogui's
the cool people here!

  • From the initial booking to check-in to check-out, Trish was attentive, friendly and helpful. It's a laid back and relaxing place, but it's also extremely well-run and organized thanks to Trish and her amazing staff.

The Treehouse gave us a lot more privacy, but the other bungalows looked fantastic as well. Room was clean and cute. Bed was comfy and the shower had hot water (not that I needed it much). There's also a room safe and a bar fridge.

Don't worry about the lack of A/C in the room. We were there for a week during the hottest month of the year and the combination of the screen windows and multiple fans kept us cool and comfortable at night.

The Treehouse lacks the lounge area underneath with the personal hammock and daybed, but there are a few lounge chairs and beanbags by the pool which you can use.

Daily breakfast was a nice touch before heading out for the day's adventures. It's nice to have the first meal of the day taken care of, so you don't have to rush out the door in search of food.

The beach is maybe 5-10 minutes away, depending on how fast you walk. The B&B has beach towels, a soft cooler, a couple of bikes and even a surfboard available for guests to borrow.

If the sun or heat does get the best of you, there's an air conditioned media lounge room with access to a laptop, big screen TV with Netflix, Appletv, etc. The pool is (email hidden) to cool off.

If you're a single traveller or just looking to meet new people during your travels, Beach Bungalows is ideal. Everyone I met was friendly and a lot of fun. If you prefer to keep to yourself, you can totally do that too (but why would you want to?)

  • Trish was such a charmer! And so were her lovely bungalows. We felt very welcome, and Trish and her team were more than accommodating, thoughtful and took great care of us. Not to mention - the breakfast was some of the best food we'd had in Costa Rica. Our stay at the Beach Bungalows was a unique experience.

  • Nous avons eu un très bon séjour au Beach Bungalow. Trish, sorry we didn't meet you. The breakfast is perfect !
Le bungalow est très cosy. La seule chose négative est le bruit qui provient des voisins (un restaurant). Le personnel est adorable, la piscine idéale pour les longues journées chaudes !
    Merci pour tout.

  • So I didn't ever get a chance to meet Trish, but she stayed in constant communication with me until I arrived at the Beach Bungalows! Once I arrived I was very well taken care of! Every single member of Trish's team treated me like I was part of their family and went out of their way to make sure that my stay was very comfortable and enjoyable! For any future guests: I do recommend staying in the Beach Bungalows rather than the Tree House because under each Beach Bungalow there is a hammock and day bed... and they are right next to the pool! The tree house is comfortable and has a nice view, but I definitely would recommend staying in the Beach Bungalows! I met some amazing guests while at BB.. we all became one big family. I will most definitely be back!

  • Trish was a wonderful hostess and could not be any more pleasant, friendly and helpful. The Beach Bungalows the 'Treehouse' was clean, well maintained, daily maid service and anything else you might want. If you just returned from the day at the beach she offered a beer, water and anything else that she had. Her friend Claudio who owns the local dive shop was just as nice & helpful. The entire experience there made it a great trip, and we rate it 10 out of 10. Let's not forget the breakfast every day which was always eggs as you want them, toast, French toast, orange juice and always hot fresh coffee. It was an endless pot and if she had anything else you were welcomed to it. Her directions were always good, and if only I paid a little more attention to her we would probably not have got lost in the mountains. The people in Costa Rica are friendly and there is virtually no horn honking which is strange for someone living near NYC. Try it you will like it .

  • Trish and Claudio are the perfect hosts! They greeted us warmly (email hidden)!
Trish gave us great tips for beaches and restaurants and offered bikes for us to use.
The B&B felt like a safe and quiet retreat.
The Treehouse was rustic, cozy, comfortable and clean, with an amazing, constant cool breeze; there was no need for the ceiling fan! I loved the artwork on the wall, which is done by a local artiste Sage Arts.( we ended up visiting her studio and buying some pieces to take home)
We were greeted by Howler Monkeys in the trees each morning. The dining, tv and lounge areas felt like a tiny oasis!
It was so nice to have a Magicjack available to phone home, but since there was wifi, we just used Facetime on our phones. The breakfast was great! Trish was so thoughtful and made a delicious gluten-free breakfast casserole and the next day, again provided corn instead of wheat tortillas. Thank you!!
Their dogs, Stella and Parker were adorable and affectionate. We look forward to returning to Costa Rica and Trish's oasis soon!

  • The Beach Bungalow experience was better than expected. At first sight the bungalows and grounds are so well maintained, the energy was great, we were welcomed with an ice cold beer. Doesn't get better than that. The "tree house" my boyfriend and I rented for 6 days was in the back area, very private. The bed was super comfortable, nice down pillows and linens. The bathroom is separate, still private for only guests of the tree house and very clean, hot water is not an issue. The tap water is filtered, an overall very comfortable experience. Trish is a very special woman and is a pleasure to be around, always laughing and offering good conversation. All of the other guests were a pleasure as well. There is access to a generous sized refrigerator to store a couple groceries, a nice BBQ and tons of outdoor space to lounge and kick back. The pool is perfect for a dip after a long warm day at the beach or adventuring. The location is perfect, takes 4 minutes to walk into Tamarindo where there is great nightlife, restaurants access to Eco tours the beach...EVERYTHING. Yet the property is tucked away enough that if you want to enjoy a quiet night in you are able to enjoy yourself without hearing the music from the clubs in town.

A gem of a place in Tamarindo and I will definitely be back!

  • Words can't describe the special hospitality I received from Trish during my stay at the Tree Beach Bungalows. Aside from the excellent service, I was also very impressed with the bungalow that I stayed at. Truly rustic and unique and chic, creating an atmosphere of upmost relaxation and enjoyment. I promise you that you will not be disappointed with your stay at the Beach Bungalow. Trish and Carlo were absolutely amazing!

taking a break in sunny Costa Rica
I love travelling, new adventures, my dogs, and getting to know people from different places around the world. While taking a break from my legal career, I wound up in Costa Rica taking surf and Spanish lessons and fell in love with the beautiful beaches, amazing surf, fabulous scuba diving, and wonderful people!! After several months in Tamarindo, I decided to look for my own piece of paradise and knew as soon as I saw it that the Beach Bungalows was the place for me. I would love to have a chance to share this magical place with you!
