Description

The space

We bought this place because we fell in love with the beauty of the area. The people, the plants, the animals, the colors, the sounds…. We have refurbished 2 units, complete with local art and reclaimed woods. We have a 3 night minimum stay.

Our guests will have access to snorkel gear, a kayak and bicycles. We also have a dog and cat, and with the iron work in the windows, you may experience our cat. If you have allergies, accept our apologies in advance, there is no way to contain them in the open living spaces.

We also have a community kitchen guests can use in addition to the kitchenette if more interaction is desired, and a media library is in the works.

We live in a quiet neighborhood, with folks that have lived here in Costa Rica their whole lives. There is a wealth of history here!

About 1/4 mile down the road is the bus stop, or take the bikes for a spin into town, which is about 5 miles of flat ride. There are also taxi's which can come pick you up!

We have a 3 night minimum stay.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to use the community kitchen and wander the yard or garden to see the various plants and animals.

Interaction with guests

We live onsite also, so if you have any questions or need suggestions, we can certainly help you out!

The neighborhood

We live in a quiet neighborhood, along the beach. Most of our neighbors are Costa Rican and have lived here forever, very kind and full of history!

Getting around

We are about 1/4 mile from the nearest bus stop, and 1/3 mile to the closest grocery store. It's pretty easy to hop a bus or grab a bike and go into town, it's a flat 5 mile ride. We can also help you get a rental car dropped here at the house.

Other things to note

Most of our pictures show calm seas, however they aren't always calm and flat.

Gary and Kathy were great hosts. Whatever we requested, they conceded. I even broke the room key trying to open a coconut (hehe) and they replaced the kay with absolutely no fuss, and Gary even opened a bunch of coconuts for me (with the proper tool this time!). It's the best place to stay in punta uva, no doubt.

We stayed in the smaller of two cabins and it had enough space for our needs. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few simple meals, fridge, fresh drinking water, etc. The beach is across the street and there is a restaurant within walking distance. We used the bikes to get around to various beaches as well as for bringing back the groceries. We also used the snorkeling gear and that was also fantastic. Kathy was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The cabin is across the street from the beach so very close but it's not on the beach as one of the pictures made it seem. It's in a quiet place which is also quite nice.

This is paradise! The house is just some steps from a white beach, clear water and palms. It's a really calm beach and great water for snorkeling. Gary and Kathy are very good hosts; sweet, friendly, funny and really helpful with whatever. A bloody knee, a car without batteries or restaurant tips. They really made the stay perfect. The location is great, nightlife and plenty of restaurants are just a 10 min car ride away in Puerto Viejo. But you have a restaurant and a little supermarket 5 min walk from the house as well. For us the beach and the hammock and the fact that you have a kitchen made us just stay in Punta Uva. I would truly recommend it. Simple but perfect.

We fell in love with this area on a visit here in 2010, it's spectacular! Gary and I are a love story by ourselves. We dated 35 years ago, went our separate ways, and ended up not just back together, but in the most beautiful place on the planet! We love to travel, snorkel, walk the beach, and laugh. We love working on projects together, going to meetings, and comedy!
