Bert and his Family gave us a warm welcome in Aruba. Even their dog "Marley" is cute and calm dog you will enjoy when sitting on the veranda in the evening or morning hours. They are a perfect host providing good advice to explore the island. The location is really cozy, just about 5 min away from a big supermarket (SuperFood) and just 10 min away from an early-bird snorkel spot on the beach (follow drive directions to California Lighthouse). You can ask Bert for additional hints. Rental car is highly recommended, 4x4 not essential unless you want to go off-road in Arikok National Park. Thanks for everything. Looking forward to come back again once we will return to Aruba!
Bert and his wife were the best hosts! They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Bert drove us to the University and advised us where to park and leave our car for the day, while we attended Carnival. Bert and his wife suggested many activities and beaches to visit and provided us with travel brochures and a weekly newspaper. Their dog Marley was extremely friendly and welcomed us every time we returned. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Aruba!
My wife and I stayed at Aruba for two weeks, which was one of our most relaxing vacations we have ever had. Big credits for that, I must say, go to our amazing hosts.
Bert and his whole family welcomed us very warmly to stay at their cottage. They were always helping us when needed, which we appreciated a lot. They also have very friendly dog who greeted us cheerfully every morning.
The cottage is very nice and cozy. It had all what we needed: well equipped kitchen, living room with TV, good-sized bed in the bedroom with A/C, porches in front & back and a pool in the backyard.
The location is very good, not far from downtown Oranjestad. The street is quite & safe, and in front of the cottage there is own parking space for a car. Rental car is a must if you would like to see all the amazing sites on the island.
Best snorkeling beaches are just 10min away, and supermarket (Superfood) is 5min away.
We loved our stay at their cottage – and can gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice and homey holiday accommodation.
Stay was so nice that we will definitely come back to Aruba and stay with Bert and his family again!
Very big thanks to Bert, Rejane and Mark for making us feel welcomed!
This one bedroom is a great base to explore Aruba from. You will need a car as it's off the main strip and in a quiet neighbourhood. It's only a few minutes to the best supermarket on the island - a few more minutes to the best beaches and just 15 minutes from the airport and capital. The stunning north side of the island is also easily accessible from the apartment - you'll need a 4*4 to go there but it's well worth it.
Bert lives in the house "next door" and is always available for anything you need. He and his wife very thoughtfully provided us with bread and cheese to make our first breakfast with as most of the shops were closed when we arrived on New Year's Eve.
Be sure to pack your insect repellant. The air conditioning is for the bedroom only. When spending time in the living room / kitchen you will have the natural air conditioning of a strong breeze blowing - but the shutters also allow ankle biting insects in.
Bert and his wife were great hosts. They made sure to make us feel right at home. The cottage is everything they say and more. It is cute, clean, cozy and has all the amenities you need like a functioning kitchen, A/C, cable TV, as well as a pool in your backyard. You have the right amount of privacy while still being able to interact with your hosts and get tips for your stay. The location is perfect, you are in a quiet safe neighborhood no more than 5-10 minutes away from several beaches, the town, and the tourist areas.
On our first day on the island we were so excited about the sun, sand, and sea that my wife forgot to reapply sunblock and got badly burned. When Bert and Rejane heard this, Rejane immediately shared all her after sun care products and insisted my wife borrow her hat for the rest of the trip. They are kind and genuinely want you to have a good time on the island. Also their dog is awesome. Give Marley a hug for us when you end up staying here.
After a long day at the beach you feel like you are going home as opposed to a random hotel.
Do yourself a favor and stay with Bert and Rejane while in Aruba, we most certainly will (website hidden). If you like dutch oliebollen, Bert might be persuaded to show off his cooking skills.
