Superb place for the last two nights of our Vienna trip. Dr. Wolf and his wife are great people. The apartment is very convenience, just 2 mins walk to Belvedere and other attractions in the city. The bathroom is huge and well equipped. Room is exactly as the picture shows. Dr. Wolf also recommend a couple of fancy local Austrian restaurants to us which you can ask them also. Will no doubt try to stay again if they're available. Thanks!
We really enjoyed our stay! A true Vienna-experience.
Martinelli and Wolf were very kind and helpful. I will remember my 2013 visit to Vienna all the more fondly because of these good people. I regret my Austrian/German was not up to communicating as well as I would have wished. The Belvedere is well worth the visit - a short stroll from the apartment, for some green space and culture.
Marcella was a great host. We were welcomed with plum cake and coffee. She gave us a lot of recommendations on restaurants and bars, even brought us a rack full of brochures/magazine (took two people to lift!). The room itself transport us back to the era of the Habsburgs, but without feeling like a stuffy museum exhibit. The apartment is at a good location — right next to Belvedere, 10 mins walk from U-bahn, 5 mins walk to D tram to town center. Unfortunately there was no wifi in our room (Marcella has a USB 3G dongle that works for laptops but not our iPhones), but we found wifi at a cafe down the road. Occasionally able to hear sounds from other part of the house due to the adjoining doors. Overall a lovely stay and would recommend!
Nice place and a lot of history in it, the bathroom is something else, was clean big and everything you need is there, the hosts are very welcoming and artistic, I wished I could stay more and know them better:) hopefully soon enough will comeback, success success success :) I wish for them all the best! xoxo
Wolf and his wife were lovely and very accommodating! They took special care to make sure we were happy and comfortable. They have an incredible collection of art, books, and artifacts that define their large and charming Vienna apartment. The location is excellent - an easy walk to many attractions and public transportation. We really enjoyed our stay!
Ein außergewöhnlicher Ort mit außergewöhnlichen Gastgebern. Wir haben alles so vorgefunden, wie in der Beschreibung angegeben - und dazu noch aus erster Hand eine Menge über Wien und seine Menschen gelernt. Sehr empfehlenswert!
Very nice room with WiFi available. The bed was very comfortable. Satellite/Cable TV was also present, which was a nice surprise as it wasn't mentioned in the listing. Closely located to Schloss Belvedere and tram into the city. We were lucky to have the bathroom to ourselves. Our hostess gave us some useful tips for breakfast and going out. Only minus point is that we could hear the other things going on in the flat during the night, but didn't stop us from having a comfortable night. The outside road was quiet though, away from the main road.
We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous antique-and-art filled apartment! The room, in addition to being beautiful, also had an extremely comfortable bed and access to a spacious bathroom and tub. Meeting Marcella and Wolf Dietrich was also great fun; they plied us (or at least my lovely partner) with scotch and their diverse and deep knowledge, and had many suggestions about what to go and see. For better or worse, we visited for just two nights over New Years, which meant that we didn't get to take advantage of a lot of their recommendations. I guess we'll have to come back!
Three tips for AirBnB travelers:
1) There is now wireless!
2) The breakfast offered (fresh rolls, an assortment of meats, cheeses, fruits, and sweets, tea/coffee and juice) is excellent and, at 8 euros, definitely the best value in the area. The second-best option is a cafe, 'Mirage,' that is very close by -- we had decent omelets there. Given the opportunity to return, we'd definitely try the nearby restaurant Sperl, which had been recommended to us but was closed for the holidays.
3) There are two dogs, Garibaldi (small, very friendly, will want to give you his paw) and Laika (big, gentle, and loves whipped cream), as well as a cat (I forgot its name but not its interesting rescue story!). They are lovely animals, curious and affectionate, but -- quite important for an inn -- not loud. If you don't really like animals, you probably won't even notice them; if you do like animals, you'll enjoy meeting them!
