Located in historic Chester County our 18th century stone farm house is nestled in a tranquil setting close to state and national parks as well as an hour by car or train to Philadelphia for urban life and rich history. Historic St. Peters Village is just around the corner.

The Space

The room for guests is located on the second floor and is quite spacious.(15 x 21) and cheery. Windows face three directions and since the house sits on a hill there are great views. Located just across the hall is a private bath and a small sitting/reading area is in the hall outside the room. Beds in the room include a queen and a single bed which comfortably accommodate up to three people. Floors are restored from the original yellow pine and made cozy with area rugs.
We have a geo-thermal heating and cooling system so the house is very comfortable throughout the entire year.
The bathroom has been completely updated and includes a tub with a shower.

Guest Access

Guests have a separate entrance which allows them access to a living room with a flat screen TV. Wifi is also available. Although breakfast is not served, tea and coffee are offered to guests in the morning. A small refrigerator and microwave are available to guests.

Interaction with Guests

The people hosting will be available to answer any questions about the area and give recommendations for activities, which are numerous in the area.

The Neighborhood

This is a very peaceful and beautiful area in Northern Chester County. Although it is rural, there are many things to do and see nearby. Three miles away is French Creek State Park and Hopewell National Historic Site, which Is a restored village from the 18th century.
There are miles and miles of trails available for hiking as the nature preserve, the Crow's Nest, is located a quarter of a mile down the road as well as the Horseshoe Trail which intersects with the Appalachian (website hidden). Peters Village, an historic village complete with water falls is located just three miles away and offers fine dining as well as a gourmet coffee shop. There is also hiking in that area.
Amish Country is a fifteen minute drive to the west where you will see buggies, beautiful farms, shop for quilts and stop at roadside stands to purchase produce, baked goods and flowers in season.

Getting around

A twenty-five minute drive will take you to the Amtrak Station in Downingtown where you can arrive in Center City Philadelphia in forty minutes where you can spend the day seeing historic sites, visiting the numerous museums, taking advantage of the many entertainment options and enjoying the many restaurants in the city.

Other Things to Note

We have a resident cat named Jeeves who is free to roam the house, but can be restricted to certain areas (or even outside). Guests just need to let us know if they are "fans of cats" and we will make adjustments.
There are horses on the property which add to the beauty of the landscape and we do warn guests that the fences are electrified so we suggest enjoying the horses from a distance.

Check In
  • Jackie (email hidden)e was very accommodating of me getting in much later than I thought I was going to and did everything to make me comfortable. Her beautiful old farmhouse was charming and cozy and the rental space had everything you could need. The whole area is so peaceful and quiet and picturesque you feel like you have stepped back in time. Elverson was perfectly located for my several events in the Lansdale and Lancanster areas. I will definitely be returning to Jackie's comfy horse farm the next time I'm in eastern Pennsylvania, hopefully with my husband. Thanks.

  • Jackie was so welcoming, considerate, and fun to talk to. On top of that, her home is beautiful and surrounded by lovely animals. If you're looking for peace and quiet in the country, this is your spot! I definitely plan to go back.

  • We had the most relaxing time at the comfy room on the horse farm.
Jackie was energetic and friendly. The porch had 2 rocking chairs with our names on them.
We would love to go back again some time.

  • Jacqueline is a very nice host. We came late, and she met us outside.
Also she provided us with the information about places to see and visit.
All around, it was a great stay, with horses, cows, birds singing and a fresh air, not comparable to the city's air.
It is about 15 min from St. Peter's Village where you can find antique stores, old fashion arcade game place, cafes and etc.
40 min to Amish county, and Lancaster.
    Beautiful landscapes during the road...

    Thank you Jacqueline.

  • I was so lucky to have stayed in this Airbnb since my host was born and raised down the street on another farm and was extremely knowledgeable not only about the Amish, but also about the entire area and things to see and do. She was a great conversationalist and receptive to all my questions. The house was warm and the bed comfortable. Since the farm is surrounded by woods, it was extremely quiet so I had the best night sleep after a busy day. I plan to return in the Spring to check out Hopewell Lake and all the trails in the area.

I am originally from the Northeastern part of the US, but have lived in western states here as well as Mexico and Spain. My passion is traveling and speaking Spanish as well as teaching the language and culture. I love nature and meeting new people and this seems to happen a lot when I travel alone as well as having the opportunity to have guests in my home. One of my three grown children lives with me as well as a resident cat who is an indoor/outdoor kitty. As my guest I will be very happy to give you inside information about the area and interesting "non-touristy" places to visit, which are plentiful in this part of Pennsylvania.
