About This Listing
My home is located 5 minutes by car from both colleges (Hartwick and SUCO) and 35 minutes from historic Cooperstown. It's a 4 minute drive to downtown Oneonta where you can enjoy our local restaurants, coffeehouses, and shops.
The yellow guestroom is warm and cozy. I will provide you with towels and linens. The room includes a writing/computer desk, ample dresser space, and a closet.
My old house is small but charming with large bay windows that let in a lot of light, the original chestnut molding, crown molding along the ceilings, and maple and oak wood floors. My late husband was a wonderful carpenter and did some beautiful things with this house. The downstairs has one large, open living space, a kitchen and a hall. The upstairs has two bedrooms, my tiny studio, and a bathroom. The bathroom is shared with me, the owner. Contact me with any specific needs you may have regarding your stay. I am flexible. Also, I do have a cat.
If it is possible, I will leave you the house to enjoy at night and only be around during the day. It depends on my partner's schedule.
Even though I list a one night minimum, during the summer months, I prefer to book two night stays during a weekend as the hosting season is short in our area. But feel free to place an inquiry, and I will let you know.
I don't have cable TV or netflex, but I do have a collection of DVDS you might like. I also have a lot of books you are welcome to peruse, if you are still reading books....
Breakfast is continental style, basically self-serve and on your own schedule. Coffee, tea, juice.......Sometimes bagels or good bread for toasting, or muffins with butter, cream cheese or jam. Fresh fruits. Yogurt.
When the weather permits, go out on my deck for a morning cup of coffee or take a short drive (or walk) to town to have a cup at the popular Latte Lounge. You are pretty much 4 to 7 minutes from anywhere you want to go in this pretty upstate town.
This is a good location for anyone who needs to come up for business, visit our two area colleges, take a short drive to Cooperstown, need accommodations while the kids are playing at the baseball camps, or just get away to upstate NY and be close to town and country for a little while. I am 6 minutes away from Oneonta's Cooperstown All Star Village and 30 minutes away from the Coopertown Dreams Park.
We have a music scene, art events and openings, The Green Toad Book Store (a unique book and gift shop), the Green Earth (a health and natural food store), and some wonderful restaurants and shops. There are Farmers Markets in Oneonta, Franklin, and Cooperstown that run from June right through November. You can also take a scenic drive along Route 28 to nearby Cooperstown where you can visit The National Baseball Hall of Fame, Hyde Hall, The Fenimore Art Museum and Farmers Museum, Ommegang Brewery, or lovely Brookwood Gardens on Otsego Lake. There is so much to love about Upstate NY. Just drive along many of our unspoiled mountain and valley roads for a visual delight. Catch an opera or musical at the world class Glimmerglass Opera House in summer; or cross country ski in Neahwa Park or on the Gilbert Lake State Park trails in winter once the snow flies.
There is no parking on my street, but you can park in back of my house. You should know that my driveway is rough (it needs to be graded and resurfaced). You would access my house by driving up the driveway, parking, and knocking on the back door. I can be flexible about the 11 am checkout time depending on whether or not I have other guests arriving that day.
There is a bus service that runs every hour until 6 pm most days if you should need transportation to town or the colleges. It is located a few blocks down the road from my home.
No pets please. No smoking in the house. No stainable foods/beverages (red wine, coffee, etc) in the bedroom. If I am able to leave you the house, I just ask that you send me a courtesy text when you leave.
Lisa’s home is completely charming - a lovely older home with modern conveniences and a lovely, artful atmosphere. Lisa was waiting for me when I arrived (and very gracious about my having been stuck in traffic and arriving later than planned). She made me feel very welcome with a tour and a glass of wine - if I had not been pressed for time, I would have enjoyed a longer chat. She was very considerate and the bedroom was just as pictured - perhaps nicer because it’s hard to capture the amount of light streaming in. It was a very cozy bed and, although my partner couldn’t travel with me as planned, the bedroom would have been spacious and comfortable enough for two. The outdoor spaces, especially the front porch, were lovely and inviting. Even though it was graduation weekend for the colleges in town, the neighborhood was quiet. This was a warm, easy and comfortable stay - it was my first Airbnb stay and a very positive introduction.
We had a wonderful stay at Lisa's cozy and beautifully decorated home. Lisa is very kind and welcoming, and she was very accommodating of our late arrival. She offered us coffee and breakfast items and left DVDs and CDs for us. We enjoyed having the home to ourselves the second night, decided to order in and listened to some of her very relaxing music. Her cat Sasha was so sweet! The bedroom is spacious, clean, and comfortable and the large bay windows allow a lot of sunlight to come in. Lisa is also a talented artist; we enjoyed talking to her about her artwork and liked seeing it displayed throughout the house. We would definitely stay with Lisa again and highly recommend her!
Lisa welcomed us warmly, showed around and then left the entire house to us. What a marvelous surprise. She has a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay, comfortably appointed. Thank you, Lisa. This is where we will stay next time we are back in Oneonta. Claire & Dan
Lisa is such a nice person, the house was decorated beautifully with lots of tasteful Christmas decor and her house is very cozy, welcoming and warm. She was extremely helpful before, during and just through the end of my departure. I loved our chats and her leaving evening selections of DVD's that she thought I would like. An extremely comfortable bed, bay windows, cosy living room and very very clean. I highly recommend.
My host was perfect! We really bonded and actually had a lot of things in common. She also has a great cat named Sasha.
My husband and I booked our first airbnb trip at Lisa'a absolutely lovely, warm, inviting, comfortable home in Oneonta and could not have been happier. Lisa is immediately welcoming and kind and goes out of her way to make guests feel at home. She obviously cares about her guests and it was so refreshing, and relieving, for my husband and I to be so pleasantly surprised by our first airbnb experience. These days we often feel ready to be disappointed by new experiences because so many people only do things to make money and so meeting Lisa, and her cute cat Sasha, helped restore our faith in people. We had her home to ourselves as we visited our daughter at SUNY Oneonta and felt so comfortable and "at home". She kindly had coffee, bagels, and cream cheese available for us which was such an thoughtful touch. The entire house is nicely decorated, spotless, and has a very inviting vibe. "Tasteful earthiness" I felt. Lisa had a great selection of movies and cd's for us to enjoy. All I can say is if you are ever in the area and need a comfortable room to spend a night or two, contact Lisa. Thank you Lisa for a wonderful (website hidden): As newbie airbnb'ers we did a lousy job of communicating with Lisa until the last minute and she was so helpful and understanding, helping us navigate the process.

About the Host, Lisa
I have lived in the upstate New York area for over 25 years and have come to love the beauty of the rolling hills, the temperate, lush summers and the beautiful, vibrant falls. Winters here are a little more challenging, but beautiful just the same. I am a lover of the arts and a sometimes painter. I love being out in nature and using my gifts and talents to cook and entertain. Sharing my home seems like the natural extension of my eclectic interests and desire to make people feel welcomed and at home.
