About this listing

Plenty of room to bring your own boat. Pet friendly.

The space

We have a group of eight cottages situated in a semi-circle on about 6 acres of land - bordered on one side by the New Meadows River. There's a bench on the river bank - look for osprey, blue heron, bald eagles and sometimes a seal will follow the striped bass up the river this far. We are 12 miles from the open ocean and the river is perfect for exploring by kayak.
The road at the front of our property can be busy during the day with local car traffic, but it's generally very quiet at night.
My grandfather built the cottages (and house for himself and my grandmother on the same property) in the mid-to-late 40's. He had started a lobster pound across the road which had grown to become a restaurant & inn and later, under my father's management, a banquet room was added. The Inn was sold in 2004 (and is now a church) and Sue & I took over the ownership and operation of the cottages.

Cute, clean and very functional cottage. Comfortable beds and nice porch for reading. Will stay again if my large family gathers again at my brother's home nearby and "overflow beds" are needed.

Good location if going to the Coastal Botanic Gardens. Good food in town. Simple place but private, clean and nice view of the river. Reminded me of the little tourists places that used to be on the secondary roads way back when. Creature comforts all provided.

Had a wonderful stay at Rick's property. The cottage is clean, beautiful, and well-stocked. Location was perfect to use as a springboard for seeing a number of wonderful spots in Maine during a long weekend. Rick was great to talk to and provided some fantastic recommendations regarding places to visit, food/drink, etc.

Rick was a great host ! Pick up of keys was exactly how described. These cottages are small however they were perfect for our quick overnight stay. The place was very clean and quiet. Would certainly recommend!

Really nice cabin with awesome kitchenette, there were dishes and a stove which we appreciated. The river behind the house was pretty and there is a kayak rental place across the street. You can also walk to a gas station and food truck for snacks. We had minimal contact with the host but this was a great little cabin to stay in.

The cottage that my friend and I stayed at were comfy and homey. It was very relaxing place and we could see ourselves going back to them for another girls weekend. Rick and his wife were wonderful and very friendly. I would recommend this place to any of my family or friends.

My wife, Sue and I run a group of vacation cottages in Maine that were built by my grandfather. We have two children and we love to spend time together - sailing, walking the dog (DeeDee the airedale), reading. I'm a carpenter and Sue works for a non-profit.
