Rick was a wonderful, knowledgeable host. He was flexible with our varying arrival time and very welcoming. We would have loved to stay longer but unfortunately this time was just an overnight. The cottage was perfect, quiet & peaceful, with everything we could need! Thanks so much. Hope to visit again!
My daughter and I have been planning this trip for months, so I messaged Rick several times with various inquiries, and he always responded promptly. We were first scheduled to arrive at the cottage around 5-6 pm. However, my family and I fell in love with Maine and spent the afternoon exploring the area, especially the Breakwater Lighthouse, which is breathtaking at sunset! I messaged Rick to let him know we would be arriving later. It was not a problem. He left our key taped to his door with instructions. The cottage was super cozy and comfortable and met our needs perfectly. My 23 year old daughter is traveling with me and my husband, so Rick made sure we had one of the cottages with two beds. The second bed is a single, so it is perfect for a child or teen. It was not uncomfortable for my daughter, but I am mentioning this for other travelers for their planning purpose. My husband is an early riser, so he enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the cool morning. There were three of us taking showers in the morning. We waited about 5-10 minutes between showers, and we each had enough hot water. Overall, our experience was great!
We arrived in the afternoon. It is a nice drive up from Kennebunkport. There was no one there when we went to check in so we hung out by the lake. About 20 minutes later the owners son showed up and tried to figure out our reservation. The cottage was nice. Simple. The only complaints were with the bathroom and front door. The bathroom was so tiny my legs hit the wall when sitting on the toilet. Our front door would not lock. We pushed our suitcases up to the door. The owner told us about a great restaurant across the street. He was right with that one. Amazing. Owner came over later at night to introduce himself. Loved the porches and chairs. It was very clean.
Rick was a great host, very flexible and accommodating. We arrived later than expected; however, our key was waiting and the cottage was perfect for our needs. We bought our Golden Retrievers and it worked out great. The location is perfect for day trips and easy to get to. We got great advice on short drives to spectacular spots such as Bailey's and Orr Island, which are very closely. We definitely visit again.
Rick was a great host. Even though I didn't get to meet him because I came in late and left early in the morning he was very accommodating leaving the keys to the cottage taped to the office door. Inside the cottage it was a nicely furnished and clean. Everything that you needed in a Maine cottage.
Thank you Rick and family for your Maine hospitality and delightful, restful stay! The cabin was nicely furnished, clean and quiet which was just what I wanted. This location is ideal for those who want to be close to local attractions and points both north and south! Very convenient location!
