Uniquely styled newly renovated studio apartment situated in trendy Highgate just a short walk from the Beaufort St cafe strip and public transport. Secure parking, a gorgeous park next door, leafy views from every window and filtered water on tap!

The Space

The renovation for this amazing fully self-contained open plan pad is at last complete!* You won't get anything quite as unique and perfectly placed to discover Perth from. Built in the 1960's the small apartment has an original parquetry floor, generous storage spaces, a queen size bed and leafy views from all windows.

Undoubtedly the feature of the space is the cheetah billboard that stretches 6.5 metres across the living area. Second to this is the beautifully crafted clay plaster wall that soaks up plastic out-gassing and creates a natural air-conditioning. The floor to ceiling glass tiling in the bathroom is also pretty awesome!

The apartment is located just a short walk from the trendy Beaufort Street cafe strip as well as bus stops and the East Perth (trans-Australia) train station. Via public transport the city is just 5mins away and 15 on foot.

Situated on the first floor in a small complex of 38, the apartment has easy and direct foot access from the street (up 4 steps). Secure parking is also available for guests with cars (locked gate).

The total space 40sq mtrs.

The park next door has a play-ground and a free BBQ ~ excellent for entertaining friends with little ones and pets.

* Thanks to the bunch of HelpX guests who worked with us to transform the space. You are all awesome!!!!

Guest Access

On-site laundry.

Interaction with Guests

Generally it's just a hello with key drop-off. We are always available by phone and live close by (site of our other listings) so guests are welcome to pop by for a cuppa.

The Neighborhood

Great restaurants, interesting shops, parks, public transport and ever so close to the Perth CBD. Ideal if you're in Perth for soccer, rugby or any event at the NIB stadium in East Perth.

Getting around

Train and bus transport is very close and pretty easy to get familiar with. Umbrellas are provided for the short walks if it rains.

Other Things to Note

NB : Sadly not all residents in the block are as house-proud as us - the less than 5 star cleanliness rate is a comment about the grounds which look scruffy in parts. Rest assured that the apartment is a squeaky clean sanctuary!

  • The Cobra Cave was comfy and cosy and in a great location. Communication with Linda was friendly and efficient - our late arrival was not a problem. The decor is bright and fun - the only aspect I'd question is the lack of blinds on 2 of the 3 windows. The view of the tree tops is lovely but not everyone wants to wake at the crack of dawn - which the absence of the blind encourages. The supplies of fresh coffee and milk were much appreciated.

  • This funky apartment is well located to access the 'inner urban' zone of Perth. Many facilities, bars, clubs are within walking distance. The CBD is a 20 minute walk. The station is an easy walk and takes you to Cottesloe and Fremantle.
The design of the apartment is funky; the facilities are simple and spare. The hosts were lovely and easy to communicate with.

Thanks Greg, it's still early days for the Cheetah Cave and your feedback is invaluable. We'll certainly get on to those improvements and the price already reduced. Do try us again down the track - to tempt a massive discount will apply : )

    With gratitude, Linda & Ian

  • We had a lovely stay in this apartment.
The flat is very small, but has everything you need to be comfortable.
We were very impressed at how much personality the owners we're able to pack into a small space!
The location is awesome - walk to Beaufort St and NIB stadium. The surrounding streets are lovely and leafy. Perfect for a morning walk.

  • Such an amazing location, close to transport and the city, and the brilliantly quirky Beaufort Street for late night drinks and eats. Linda and Ian were lovely hosts, checking in with us if we needed anything and ensuring we were comfortable. The accommodation reminds me of going to stay with your favourite bohemian aunt, unique and surprising- love the yellow fridge! The leafy outlook, park next door, and the delicious Highgate Bakery nearby assure you a great stay in Perth.

  • This AirBnB is all about location and decor. Only 20 minutes walk from the CBD, a 20km drive to the Swan Valley wineries and if a sports fan on the doorstep of the NIB stadium; what more you could you want... Cool decor that's what. Retro styling with a big cheetah on the wall to welcome you ever time you wake. Oh and the blackboard on the back of the door allowed us to leave local tips for the next guests :)

Round the corner on Lincoln Street is a great cafe for breakfast, on Beaufort street (5 mins walk) cafes and bars, one that with its Spanish style food and gin specialties is a lovely welcome after a days sightseeing.

We were one of the first couples to stay here and found Linda and Ian very friendly and open to suggestions to make our stay better. Clean, spacious and comfortable with the added bonus of a parking space should you need it. Set in a relatively quiet area with a park behind the building we will not hesitate to stay again when back in Perth.

    Thank you Linda and Ian.

About
Hi, we're Linda & Ian and we're lucky enough to live on an amazing patch of Earth in Perth with our 17yo son Oli* and our golden cocker spaniel Lola. We love sharing our home of 28 years with visitors and the 'fix rather than replace' motto we've used to decorate and maintain it! It means it's quirky as well as comfy and all with a low planetary foot-print : ) We're especially proud of our kitchen benches which are crafted from timber milled from a tree we planted over our 27yo son's placenta soon after we moved in. We love yoga, meditation, being resourceful, designing houses, listening to music (most sorts), movies (making & writing them occasionally too!), karaoke-for-therapy and social justice! Our 1st experience of Airbnb was in New York where we stayed on a heritage-listed ferry boat anchored in New Jersey - the views across the Hudson of the Manhattan skyline were amazing!!! We love Airbnb because it's contributing to the development of the 'new currency of reputation and trust'. There's a couple of powerful TED talks by Rachel Botsman on 'collaborative consumption' that you might like to check out on Youtube - the most recent one talks about Airbnb. We have 2 listings on Airbnb (a funky room & a self-contained duplex) so please take a look at both. Looking forward to hearing from you soon : ) * Oli speaks pretty good Italian!
