Ni hao! 你好！
We’re a British-American couple with a combined total of 10 years in China & Taiwan, working in fashion, journalism, film & TV.
Our 120 square metre apartment is cozy, quiet and conveniently located, whether you want to paint the town, or enrol in calligraphy classes… or both!
As a former editor of Time Out Beijing and the LUXE Beijing guide, who now runs a fashion startup, I’m pretty well informed on what’s going on in the city. While I’m a little weak on geography, Greg, an avid motorcyclist, can help you navigate impeccably.
Location-wise we're the perfect spot for doing Beijing justice! We’re just a 5 minute walk from the Airport Express (20 minute journey from the airport terminal to Dongzhimen Station) and all major subway and bus routes, and a mere 10 minute walk from bustling Sanlitun if bars and restaurants are your calling. Foodies can meander 10 minutes to the famous Ghost Street (Gui Jie) to savour all of Beijing's weird and wonderful culinary delights, or just pop round the corner to the world-renowned (and Michelin-starred) Din Tai Fung or Beijing's most popular Peking Duck joint.
If hutongs are what you’re after, feel free to borrow our two bicycles and explore!
We also have a wonderful driver (who speaks basic English and has a large air conditioned car) who can take you on any of the longer journeys (Great Wall, Summer Palace, Hot Springs etc) at an extremely good rate - 500RMB for a full day.
Guests can have full use of our large living room, dining room, bathroom and kitchen including laundry.
Clean linen and fresh towels will be there on your arrival, and an assortment of toiletries.
We're tea fiends, so please help yourself! Plus, we also have a Nespresso machine for caffeine addicts.
Worried about Beijing's notorious smog? Your bedroom and the living room are both fitted with air filters. And we have air conditioners in every room.
To avoid THE GREAT FIREWALL, we have two wireless connections to guarantee a reliable (China speed) internet service.
Please note, our apartment building doesn't have a lift, but you get used to it!
Our 2 bicycles are available 24/7 and we're members of a gym a mere 2 minutes walk away. Guests can enjoy the gym, swimming pool and steam room/sauna facilities at the gym's guest rate.
Tired after a long (or short) journey? We have a wonderful masseuse that comes to our home! (We can also arrange home delivery manicures, facials and other beauty treatments).
Worried about racking up a large phone bill? We have a local sim card and phone available for guests during their stay.
To find somewhere centrally located AND quiet is virtually impossible in Beijing. While we're bang in the heart of everything that makes Beijing tick, we're situated in a leafy Chinese building that is oh-so-quiet.
Smoking is only allowed in designated areas (not in your room please!)
What a great place and lovely people. Alice was fantastic to communicate with and gave us great tour advice as well as the best recommendation for authentic cuisine. The apartment is spotless and certainly big enough. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend staying here. Thanks guys
De ontvangst was heel hartelijk. De verhuurster was thuis en kon ons dus wegwijs maken. De buurt was heel centraal, vlakbij de metro.
We had a fantastic first time airbnb experience at Greg and Alice's place. They provided outstanding recommendations based on our time in Beijing. Their place is meticulous and comfortable and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Thanks to Greg and Alice for guiding us to a more than memorable experience.
My hosts made me feel very welcome in their home throughout my 4 day stay in Beijing for work. I'd mainly selected their place due to the closeness to my meeting locations but their place was as lovely and comfortable as I guessed it was from their listing pictures and description. I wish I had had time to see more of Beijing and hang out with these lovely people for dinner. I guess I'll have to leave that for next time!
From the moment of making an enquiry Alice was an attentive and helpful host, always replying to messages promptly. She was happy to share her knowledge & give assistance in planning activities ahead of our visit, which was much appreciated. Alice & Greg made us very welcome & and are happy to interact as much or as little as required. They are relaxed and generous hosts, always ready to give tips about places to eat or things to do. They encouraged us to use their bikes to explore Beijing which we did and really enjoyed. If you're travelling from abroad they have a mobile phone you can use which is really useful too. If you get stuck they both speak mandarin & don't mind being phoned for help. They also have useful contacts like a reliable taxi driver.
The apartment is comfortable & when the pollution is high they have an air filter system.
The location is good and main sights are within fairly easy reach by bike or metro (lama temple, drum tower, forbidden city).
Alice and Greg had a comfortable home in a great location. My partner and I greatly enjoyed having this space to come back to after long days exploring in busy Beijing.
