Come experience NYC the Astoria way! My wife and I have a 2nd floor artsy apartment with a large bed, self-inflating air mattress, and comfy couch for all your sleeping needs.
Astoria is a really wonderful place. The neighborhood is a mix of Greek, Asian, Czech, Italian, Hispanic, and Arab cultures - with restaurants to match. You also have your pick between budget grocery stores and more expensive organic markets. Several coffee shops and hip bars are within walking distance. We recommend checking out Martha's Country Bakery - they've got delicious cupcakes that people from all over New York come to eat.
It's just a short walk to the N/Q train (Astoria-Ditmars stop), and from there it's only 20 minutes 10 midtown Manhattan where you'll be able to check out Times Square, Central Park, The Empire State Building, and a bunch of other fun attractions. It's 45 minutes to the hip Brooklyn neighborhood Williamsburg, and 1 hour to the beautiful boardwalk of Coney Island.
Other Things to Note
-Fully stocked kitchen (Juicer, blender, crockpot, etc...)
-Fresh towels and sheets
-Quick and reliable access to us if you have any questions
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Karim's place. The apartment was tidy, in a safe neighborhood and surrounded by tons of great places to eat. Not a great amount of places to go for a big night out but I guess that's what the city is for! I would definitely recommend this place for any traveler.
The place is small but you can definitely see that in the pictures so it was not a surprise but neither a problem. The apartment its old (as It is also the building), with some lack of maintenance, but still, the apartment was cosy, and comfortable for one-two people (even three for a short period of time). It has a full kitchen, but no micro so you could find that as a problem, i did not. The bathroom was a little small, but again i was prepared to deal with it, and it was clean. The bed in the room wasn't that comfortable, it has an old mattress. I LOVED ASTORIA, that was the best part of this place. In a distance of 8-9 blocks (distance from the apartment to the N-Q line Astoria-Ditmars Bvld Station, you are 25-30 min away from Manhattan Midtown) you will find anything you´ll need, starbucks, banks, pharmacy, grocery stores, hair saloons, spa, tailor, 99c stores, you name it. The restaurants are one better than the other, i should say that if i would live in NYC, i´d definitely live in Astoria. Some minor details about the apartment maintenance popped up when we were there but Karim was always reachable by phone to solve them up. My only concern about the apartment was about how clean the apartment was. It was clean in the parts where you would walk through but if you move something in the apartment you´d find yourself with dust and hair. I don't consider myself like a cleaning freak, but still i didn't like that. I would definitely stay in this apartment again in another trip to NYC, if they solve those minor things i mentioned. Thank you Karim
Very nice stay, our first time in Astoria, and we would stay here again (the apartment and the area). The neighborhood is clean and quiet, excellent restaurants and a reasonably quick trip to Manhattan. The bed and air mattress were comfortable, the kitchen is well-stocked (just no microwave but OK for us), and everything worked great. Thank you Karim!
Karim was always helpful when we had questions - and we had a lot of those :-)
The apartment was simple but nevertheless sufficient for our sightseeing trip and we had everything we needed during our 9 days stay.
The neighboorhood was quiet but had a lot of shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk away. We (2 girls) felt very comfortable and safe in that area.
The apartment was awesome! Great accommodations, location and easy access to restaurants and public transportation. Thanks for allowing us to use your place!
Hello! I'm a theatre maker and teacher living in the Big Apple. I live here with my beautiful and charming wife Carrie. We run a theatre company together (Animal Engine) and often tour our shows around the country. This leaves our apartment empty and available for you!
My wife and I love art, yoga, cooking, eating out, and going on adventures! This summer we're traveling to South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota to perform our latest play - Petunia & Chicken ((website hidden)).
