The Edward Denison house was built in 1710 and is one of the oldest homes in Stonington. Located just steps from the Road Meeting House and a 5 minute drive from Stonington Borough. This is a wonderful area for biking, also has many walking trails.
It is said, “If you have two pennies, with the first buy bread and with the second buy hyacinths for your soul.” Our 1710 colonial home, offers THREE large guestrooms (each rented separately), private jetted baths, fireplaces, gardens and quiet country setting near the heart of Mystic. NONE of our rooms accommodate more than 2 adults and 1 small child so plan accordingly when requesting your reservation.
Rental is priced per room and we can and do accommodate multiple groups of travelers. The base price is for 1 person and there is an additional $20 for a second person in that room. If you have 4 people in your group, that would be 2 rooms plus $20 extra each room for double occupancy. Airbnb calculates the rate as if all 4 people fit in one room but that is not what you would be renting! Hope this makes sense but some folks have been confused so we're trying to explain it. :)
Within three miles of downtown Mystic, historic Stonington Borough, the Aquarium, and the Seaport, our home sits on 4 1/2 acres of gardens, fields and forest. Excellent opportunities abound for quiet, romantic walks or secluded hideaways for reading. Relax in the ambiance of a home that has for three centuries provided shelter and respite.
Our three guestrooms are beautifully appointed including such amenities as WiFi, hair dryers, cable TV/DVD/VCR, individual refrigerators, and irons and ironing boards. All guest rooms are on the second floor accessed by a staircase (no elevator.) Sleeping options include a king bed or two twins in one room, a queen bed in another room and a queen and a twin in the two room suite. All of our guest rooms have private baths.
Free off street parking, wander our grounds or walk through the wood at the Avalonia Land Trust trails a quarter of a mile away. The Mystic Train Station is about 4 miles, local cab service is available as well as bike and car rentals.
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cookies and snacks are always on hand. During the week, continental breakfast is included: muffins, fresh fruit, cheese, cereals (including gluten free granola). On weekends, our deluxe 5-course breakfast is included. There's a great coffee shop (The Yellow House) two miles away in Stonington Borough as well as several great cafes and restaurants for those who want a heartier start to their day during the week. (Lots of Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks, too!)
Jim works full-time at Mystic Seaport in the Shipyard, doing antique engine restoration and sawing logs for the Charles W. Morgan project. Sandra is a registered nurse, currently working in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. We have a dog named Kelly, two cats, Hobo and Kirby, a horse named Tommy Dorsey and a miniature horse, Inspector Morse.

Interaction with Guests
It depends on the day as to how much we're home and also on guest sensibilities.
Quiet, very country setting but only 3 minutes from the interstate and 5-7 minutes from shops, restaurants, etc. (by car.)
Unfortunately, there is no convenient public transportation available. Bike rental is available from a local company or you can bring your own.
No smoking indoors! Must be at least 18 years old to rent; we reserve the right to ask for ID. One friendly, well-behaved pet is allowed but must be mentioned and agreed at time of booking. $25 pet fee required. Children are welcomed, with consideration given for our other guests.
There is a library for the use of our guests (with books, magazines, maps, games, puzzles and a Lionel train set) and lots of outdoor space, including a covered porch with chairs and tables. There is no kitchen use; if you'd like to do your own cooking please consider renting our other property, the Red Barn.
Otherwise, we assume guests will behave as responsible adults and we've never had a problem. Welcome, wilkommen, bien venue!
Sandra made us feel very welcome! The room was cozy and the bathroom was clean.
The breakfast was DELICIOUS!
I would recommend staying at Sandra's lovely home when you are looking to explore the Stonington, Mystic and Watch Hill areas. The location is very convenient and our room was cozy and clean. Breakfast was much more than we expected and a pleasant surprise.
We had a great time.
Happy to meet Sandra.
Respectful,clean and beautiful garden .
This was a lovely, charming home in a beautiful place. The hosts were welcoming and informative, and the breakfast was delicious the one morning we decided to add it on to our bill. We stayed in the king-sized room, which was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was just outside our bedroom door, and robes were provided to make that trip a little easier. We would stay here again!
I traveled here with my girlfriend and 4-year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Sandra herself was on a rare vacation but we were hosted by her wonderful sister-in-law, Chelle. Chelle made sure everything we needed was at the ready and was also helpful in organizing our first trip to the region.
The rooms were delightfully quaint and very comfortable, and our dog enjoyed playing in the yard (although we had to make sure she didn't chase after the chickens in the coop!). Everything was super clean and in well-working order. The shower was extremely powerful and felt like a massage.
Location is perfect as a short drive or even a decent walk to all of the local attractions.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting to the area.
Sandra was a wonderful hostess for our weekend stay at her beautiful home. Our room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. The breakfast served in the morning was delicious! Sandra had great suggestions for things to do, places to eat and just a very helpful knowledge of the whole area. I would definitely stay here again if ever in the area!
My partner and I had a great time! Sandra was a great host. The house was very charming. It was close to Stonington, Mystic & Rhode Island beaches. Would definitely stay again !
