Interaction with Guests
My house has three private rooms available, where guests and myself share the two bathrooms and the kitchen. I travel and work at my studio often, so sometimes you may not see me around, sometimes when I am out of town or on a project I also have my bedroom available for BnBers. However I am always a phone call or message away with any question you may have, and my friend Isabel who helps me clean can assist when I'm out of town with any issues at my home.
I Live in the Historic "Bywater Neighborhood" Close to the "French Quarter/Bourbon St." Downtown and the Historic Marigny Neighborhood/Frenchman Street
A safe area where everyone looks out for one another, with families and young entrepreneurs dotting the area with eclectic bars, eateries and shops.
There are several good restaurants, the "St. Claude Art Galleries", and the Mississippi River. A couple more blocks and you're at Two of the most popular coffee shops in town, Even more amazing restaurants, vintage shops, 24hr health food grocery, and many local destinations! Our house is a calm and beautiful ride along the Mississippi 1.5 miles to the French Quarter down beautiful South Peters Ave.
Commonly sought after attractions within 1.5 miles of our house are: Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park, French Market, Spotted Cat, Cafe Negril, Blue Nile, The Maison, Apple Barrel, Coop's Place, Mardi Gras Zone, Mimi's in the Marigny, All Ways Lounge, and the Bywater, Marigny, 7th Ward, and Treme neighborhoods.
I recommend using the Free bikes to get around the area, New orleans is a small enough city geographically you can get virtually anywhere by a short bike ride!
*a note on the bikes:
The bikes are FREE so they are not the fanciest of rides. Mainly geared toward the travelers who are down for an adventure, and aren't expecting a Lexus, they're more like an old Toyota (strong guts, but moody) But we love them, they have their quirks, and they get a lot of use. Please, if you are not used to working with a used "get around town bike" than consider renting a bike from one of the many lovely rentals around town. (Gerkins, Bicycle Michaels, or Crescent City Bike Tours)
Other Things to Note
No pets please due to allergy concerns, thanks!
I am totally flexible and available to accommodate any check-in or check-out times however, for regularity sake I suggest:
(sometimes if there is an overlap, ie. early airport arrival, I can hold your bags until a previous guest checks out)
Check in after 3pm
Check out before 11am
Please leave your keys on bed when you check out
I provide FREE bikes to all of our guests to borrow.
If you do borrow a bike, we provide you with a lock for your bike.
Please return the locks and keys with the bikes.
and THANK YOU for staying with me!
My boyfriend and I had a great experience staying in the Artist Room. Andrew's description of the house and area were very accurate, and we had no problems leaving our car parked on the street overnight. We also loved taking the extra bikes out around town (despite the heat!) I would definitely recommend Andrew's house to anyone!
Andrew's place was perfect for our stay. We ended up heading to New Orleans a day early and felt right at home in our room. His communication in making sure we had all of the info we needed to get in was excellent. We were close to several great places and his guide book that was provided was a nice touch!
The place was cute and just what we needed for one night. The instructions to enter the house were clear and didn't necessitate a host to greet us; very easy. Overall cute and charming, close to where we wanted to be.
The house was a great historic home in New Orleans. Room was nice and the bathrooms were clean. The location wasn't too far from down town and in a reasonably friendly neighborhood. Andrew was out of town and had his friend Alicia helping. she was friendly and communicated well. Our experience was great until there was an electrical outage and the Air conditioning went out for the last day we were there. We ended up staying at a hotel that night since it was too hot. Andrew refunded is for that night which was appreciated.
Andrew provided all the necessary information through mail before we reached (since he was not in country). The place was clean. We didn't get a chance to use the bicycles but NOLA is definitely a place to use cycles and not cars especially if you are going to French Quarters.
What a cool place to stay in New Orleans! Andrews 'Little Prince' room had everything that we needed to spend our first night in the Big Easy. Great communication beforehand led to no issues getting into the house. We never met Andrew since he was out of the area, but his apartment literally had everything we could possibly need between the bikes and his own personal guide. Bywater is a gorgeous neighborhood I really enjoyed staying in that area. Great room to explore. Highly recommended.
- Room was spacious
- Air conditioning was useful
- Notes and magazines very helpful for check out process and knowing where to explore in New Orleans
- Can be a bit unsafe at night (mainly more vulnerable as a girl)
- Not the easiest place to bike around

About the Host, Andrew
I am an artist who travels very often, I tour the world creating art installations and large group projects. Air Bnb is the perfect solution to keeping my home "lived in and loved" while I am in town or away!
When traveling I am usually driving my 40ft school bus converted in to an Art Studio all over the country creating large scale art installations, I studied Sculpture in Washington, DC and now love to call New Orleans; HOME!
I am so grateful for Airbnb and the world it opens up for me being able to host so many different people from everywhere on earth, I am happy to have you as my guest, welcome, please make yourself at home in our home, and see you soon!
