What our guests say is that they like a cottage that is not in the host's backyard. Located on a seldom used alley 2 blocks from the beach, harbor, and restaurants. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a walk of about 1 1/2 miles or 2 miles driving.

Come discover why Santa Cruz is such a popular destination. Our stand alone cottage (not in our back yard) is on a quiet alley way centrally located near great activities. Easy walking to the yacht harbor and beach so you can rent kayaks, surf boards, SUPs (stand up paddling). Bicycling along the ocean is fairly flat or go to the mountains for a challenging mountain bike ride. Or course one of the best beaches for sun bathing and volleyball is an easy two block walk right behind the ever popular Crow’s Nest Restaurant.

TripAdvisor is listing Santa Cruz as No. 15 among U.S. destinations on the rise, partly for being one of America’s surfing capitals.
The top three things to do as recommended by visitors: West Cliff Drive, for breathtaking views and a chance to see monarch butterflies, the San¬ta Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum.
Santa Cruz Food Tour is the top-rated tour, fol¬lowed by Stagnaro Fishing Trips & Whale Watching and Chardonnay Sailing Charters. West Cliff Inn is the top-rated hotel, followed by Dream Inn, Sea and Sand Inn, Edgewater Beach Motel and Bella Notte.
Malabar Cafe, which features Asian and veg¬etarian cuisine, is the top-rated restaurant, fol¬lowed by Marianne’s Ice Cream and Zachary’s.
This cozy and clean studio cottage is self contained. It has a queen size Murphy (wall bed) bed that easily folds up for extra space during the day and a standard twin bed that pulls out of the couch. I just bought a new La-Z-Boy twin sleeper June 2014 so I believe it is as comfortable as it gets. The charming bathroom has a blue tiled shower with unlimited hot water. There is also a hair dryer. The full kitchen comes with a toaster, blender, coffee maker, gas stove, microwave, and refrigerator. We also have an ironing board and iron for your convenience.
Comcast provides services for Wi-Fi, the 32” flat screen TV, and telephone. There is also a DVD player and an iPod charging dock.
We make available clean sheets, pillow cases, and blankets for your convenience. Or you can bring your own linens. It will be up to you to make the beds. For the bathroom we provide towels, hand towels, and wash clothes. There are also 4 beach towels.
Within walking distance we have everything you need for a lazy day. For restaurants close by you can walk to the Crow’s Nest, Johnny’s Harborside, El Palomar Café, The Kind Grind (coffee), Harbor Café (breakfast and lunch). Aldo’s is on the other side of the harbor which is great for a long walk.
During the summer there is a free water taxi that goes around the harbor. Slow, calm, and great for all ages.
For local grocery stores Santa Cruz style we have Shopper’s Corner, New Leaf, and Staff of Life. We also have two Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s.
I am surprised that TripAdvisor didn’t mention Pacific Garden Mall for an activity. Downtown is a really cool way to get exposure to Santa Cruz. Just sit on a bench and watch what goes by. Or course they have movies and restaurants and shopping and treats.
We require a two night minimum at the daily rate. There is a $75 cleaning fee. This cleaning fee is waived should you stay a minimum of 3 nights. Our rates are seasonal so watch the calendar for the current rate. Therefore, if the rate is $99 a night and you stay for 3 nights the price will be $297 plus the 10% ($29.70) Airbnb charges for a total of $326.70. If you choose to stay two nights the price would be $198 plus the cleaning fee of $75 for a sub total of $273 plus the Airbnb charge of 10%. Total $300.30. Most guests choose to spend a third night enjoying Santa Cruz for close to the same price. If you choose the 3 plus night option Airbnb well deduct the $75 which lowers the daily cost. The easiest way to deduct the cleaning fee is to send me the inquiry and I will "special offer" you a reduced price.
If you enjoy long beach walks or walks around a harbor where the scenery is forever changing this is the place for you. The low sounds of sea lions in the distance and the long lines of Brown Pelicans flying by are always mesmerizing. If you enjoy great restaurants the world famous Shadowbrook in Capitola consistently gets voted for most romantic.

Park in front of the front door. Look to the left of the front door for a lock box. When I can I will program the lock box code with the last four digits of the guest's phone number. Let yourself in and after you get settled let me know by way of text, email, or phone. Look on the back of the front door for more info such as wifi access.
Interaction with Guests
I live about 20 minutes away in a town called Aptos. It is common that there is no contact with guests. I am available by way of text, phone, or email. I am a people person so I am willing to meet if that is what you prefer.
People are really friendly in this comfortable neighborhood. You can just park your car and have plenty to do within walking distance. Or use it for home base and visit Big Sur or the Monterey Bay Aquarium. There is plenty of beauty and action right here.
It is best to check Google Maps for the bus schedule. It could work very well for you.
Uber also works very will in Santa Cruz

I am in good standing with my neighbors. There is a mix of homeowners, renters, and vacationers. If you have any concerns please contact me and I will address your concerns.

DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT -
•No damage is done to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. Guest must immediately notify Owner of any/all loss or damage to the property.
•No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay.
•All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in trunk, and soiled dishes are cleaned.
•All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.
•No linens are lost or damaged.
•NO late checkout.
•Parking passes are left inside the unit upon departure.
•The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), the local law enforcement, or the security company employed by My Community.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to three (3) persons.
MINIMUM STAY – This property requires a two (2) night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than two days, the guest will be charged the two-night rate.
INCLUSIVE FEES – Rates include a one-time linen & towel setup. Amenity fees are included in the rental rate. Guest acknowledges the need to use a calling card or cellular phone for all international telephone calls.
NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE – While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. However, it is available at an additional rate. We do not permit bath towels or linens to be taken from the units, but we provide extra beach towels for your use.
RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice.
FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.
WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved in writing in advance.
PARKING – PARKING PASSES – Parking passes for restricted parking areas and periods are located inside the unit. Leave the parking passes inside the unit upon departure. Parking in front of the cottage and on Assembly do not require permits. Parking on side-streets require permits during parking periods, generally April 15-September 15. Lock your car. Do not leave valuables in your car.
SEWER –The sewer system will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to two hundred dollars ($200).
Guests acknowledge that the Owner would not rent the property without the Guests’ acceptance of these conditions.
•Guests understand that there are certain risks inherent to persons and property located adjacent to the ocean. Enjoy the ocean at your own risk.
•Guest shall be liable for all acts of their family, friends, employees, and any other invitees otherwise, on the property during the rental period.
•Guest may not sublet or assign this agreement, nor shall Guest permit any use of the property without the prior approval of Owner.
•Guest accepts full responsibility associated with the occupancy of this property and agrees to hold the property Owner harmless for any and all accidents, injuries, or death. Under no circumstances shall the Owner be responsible for any loss, damage, claim or injury, whether incurred directly, indirectly, consequently or otherwise, in law or equity, as a result of rendering of services or accommodations as described or substituted; and, including without restricting the generality of the foregoing as a result of any delay(s), substitution(s), rescheduling(s), or change(s), in the provision of services or accommodations provided.
