About this listing
My apartment is absolutely lovely and tranquil in the heart of Harlem. We are rich in culture and different languages. Come stay in my sanctuary!
The apartment has been completely re-done. Welcome to our sacred serenity.
I am looking for someone who is looking for something short term, or a getaway weekend.
Stay in our fabulous apartment in Harlem, NYC home of the Apollo Theater. With Columbia University just up the way, the area is full of college hangouts, great restaurants and bars. Just a five minute walk to the train. One train stop away from Columbus Circle and two train stops away from 42nd Street/Times Square. You're never more than fifteen minutes away from New York's most popular attractions.
PLEASE NOTE: This space is a shared space with myself. I am a teacher and writer. I recently published my memoir and am writing a historical fiction novel and am currently the writer and producer for the documentary (website hidden).
Internet and the entire apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I am very active. I am always out. I spend much of my time away from home. Travel quite a bit. So our interactions will be quite casual... quick hello's and faster goodbye's! But I do slow down and we can chat.
It's HARLEM! I have been here almost ten years. It is home... We love the architecture, history and culture. And we are close to everything!
Trains... A, B, C, D, 1, 4, 5, 6, and countless buses! You can get everywhere from here quite conveniently.
Alicia was an exceptional host. She fully accommodated me on short notice and at the last minute. My work schedule had changed during the holiday weekend and I had only 1-day in NY. She prepared the space well. It was clean and she especially prepares the space for you to have privately. It was just what I needed, a quiet space after weeks of traveling and working. Thank you Alicia.
Alicia was a lovely, great and generous tenant, and see was always ready to help and available. The apartment is in a perfect location if your stay in Manhattan is related to Columbia University. Despite being in Harlem, it is a safe place. The subway connection is also very convenient to enjoy and move quickly around the city. These are the good remarks. On the contrary I found the place, in general, very dirty. The general staircase is like a dump and smells bad. The kitchen was very dirty and greasy as well as some other parts of the apartment. The flat is partly occupied and there is not a real bed to sleep. Since there is a lot of the owner’s personal stuff all around it is not easy to feel at your place for a few days (as we have had the chance to experience at some other airbnb experiences) but rather at some other’s home. Lastly: it’s very complicated to get deliveries from USPS. Items get easily lost or delayed. In short: no complains at all regarding the renter but it was not a very pleasant stay for the above-mentioned reasons. I would not repeat the experience and less for that price.
Alicia was a wonderful hostess. The apartment is in a great location right between the 1 train and the ACBD lines. Great music and food around the area. The space was nice too...really made me miss home. Alicia was super flexible about the beginning and ending dates as well. Highly recommended.
Both Alicia and her place were lovely! The apartment was beautiful and clean. In contrast to other reviews I had absolutely no complaints about the bed. The neighbors were a bit loud though and the neighborhood didn't always feel totally safe. This was probably due to it being the easter holidays. I'd happily stay at Alicia's place again!
Well, Alicias' place in Manhattan N.Y. is a nice place to stay. You can stay alone in the place, with kitchen and bath for you alone.
just few suggestions to make the stay more wonderful: it will be nice a real bed.
Alica is a great host.
Alicia's place was a cozy little apartment. We stayed here over new years. It was very close to the subway, and was very easy to find. The bed was not the most comfortable, but it was a place to lay your head for a reasonable price. I would stay here again! We had full use of the kitchen, and were very at home! Thanks so much!!!
Cool apt very well located. The host is great! The bed is not good at all.
