Centrally located between Bryce (45 min) and Zion (50 min), and just off Utah's scenic Highway 89, The Grand Skyview is a good base for exploring both those parks and the many other attractions of Southern Utah (see neighborhood section). Located at the edge of a plateau on 120 acres of private land, it features unobstructed views of this truly magnificent country and is a sanctuary for wildlife. We hope you will come be our guests during your Utah vacation.

The space
The house consists of 3 stories, with your live-in hosts Mike and Elka self-contained on the lowest (basement) level. They will greet you, orient you to the property, and be available as a resource should you have questions about the area. The rest of the house (everything in the pictures) is yours to use exclusively. The presence of your hosts on the property is the only reason this is listed as a "private room" rather than "entire place". Your hosts may use the laundry room, but will coordinate with you and be as discreet as possible.

The main floor has a great room with large picture windows, a baby grand piano, wood-fired stove with stone hearth, dining room, and a full gourmet kitchen including an Italian wood-fired pizza oven, gas range and oven. There is a wrap around deck with a propane grill, rocking chairs and views, views, VIEWS!!!

The bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed and its own private entry to the bathroom on that floor, which can also act as a common restroom for your group (because of the dual entry). The 3rd floor has a large open loft area with 2 twin extra long beds and a queen bed. It has a bunk room feel with less privacy than in either of the other two bedrooms. The master suite is located on the 3rd floor adjacent to the loft. It has a queen bed, balcony, and and its own private bathroom.

Everything in the pictures with the exception of the basement level of the house where the hosts reside (visible in one of the pictures).

Other things to note
The location is in a remote part of southern Utah, which is what adds to its beauty. However grocery stores and restaurants are less plentiful and may have reduced hours in the off season. It's a good idea to stock up with groceries and supplies ahead of time. That being said, there is a grocery store in Orderville 30 minutes south of us and one in Panguitch which is 30 minutes north of us on hwy 89.

Additionally, the dirt road up the hill to our home can get muddy in heavy rains or melting snow. Vehicles with 4 wheel drive will have no problem navigating it, but 2 wheel drive vehicles may stumble. If that is the case, your hosts who have two 4x4 trucks will be able to shuttle you up and down the hill until the road conditions improve. This is generally more of an issue in the winter time.

Lastly, our house is about a 5 minute drive off Hwy 89 through a subdivision on a county maintained dirt road. The turn off can be difficult to spot, especially if you haven't been there before. Most guests have been able to find our home without difficulty using the Google or Apple maps GPS directions on their mobile phones. However, your hosts can meet you by the highway at the turnoff and escort you up the hill if needed.
