Interaction with Guests
Our studio apartment is its own guest suite, completely separate, but adjacent to the main house we live in. Our main living space is in the opposite wing of the main house, so we don't ever hear our guests, the tv or anything!
There is no shared space, indoors or outdoors, and our guests have access to their own private parking and entrance, so come and go as you please, no matter what time it is.
That said, we are happy to meet you and say hello if you're open to it! We love our home and our town and are so happy to host your stay. Please let us know if there's any questions you might have while you're here!
We are always just a quick text message away- if you forgot something, if you need something, please don't hesitate to reach out!!
Our famous Media City location is perfect for business or pleasure, since Burbank is home to Bob Hope Airport, as well as the Los Angeles Equestrian Center and major studios like Walt Disney, NBC, Warner Bros, Nickelodeon and Universal. The location is ideal for easy access to studio tours or live show tapings, castings and production meetings.
An easy five minute stroll to Fresh & Easy grocery store, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, CVS, 7-11, Chase Bank, McDonald's, Centinela Pet Supply, and the local laundromat, gym and dry cleaners.
A 7-10 minute walk to our local park and recreation center and Burbank Historical Society, perfect for picnics and people watching.
A 10-15 minute walk to Pavilions, Denny's, Subway, AAA and yet another Starbucks :)
Burbank's Bob Hope Airport is a ten minute drive away.
Downtown Burbank offers restaurants, shopping, bars and state of the art AMC movie theaters. Burbank also has a local bowling alley, ice skating rink and indoor go kart racing facility.
Fitness: Nature and pet lovers will find great hiking trails in Burbank's Stough Canyon or nearby Griffith Park, as well as our community pool and local gym just a block away.
Central and close to Hollywood, Pasadena, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Downtown, Studio City and Universal City, Burbank's Magnolia Park neighborhood is close to three major freeways (phone number hidden)), making for an easy drive to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the beach, mountains, or desert. (Be sure to download the free Waze app for the very best navigation directions!)
LA Zoo/Gene Autry Museum/Griffith Park/Travel Town 3mi (The LA Zoo lot is also a Park&Ride location for Hollywood Bowl shuttles, way easier and cheaper than parking at the Bowl)
Universal Studios & Citywalk 3.5mi (also a Park&Ride Metro stop)
Hollywood & Highland 5.5mi (also a Metro stop)
The Greek Theatre 7.5mi
Hollywood Bowl 7mi (free shuttle to/from Hollywood & Highland Metro stop)

Knott's Berry Farm 32mi
Disneyland/California Adventure Park 35mi
If you don't have a car, or prefer not to drive it:
Download the Uber or Lyft app on your phone for ride-sharing services. We prefer Lyft, for a more fun, laid back ride.
We are a block away from several bus stops, several of which connect to the Universal Metro Station. The Metro website is a great resource, as is the BurbankBus website.
While we do have public transportation, LA is primarily a driving city, so be sure to do your homework before deciding against having a car!
If you do have a car:
We have a safe driveway parking spot reserved for you, as well as ample street parking, just steps away from your entry.
All free, no permit required.
Call or text if you need any help at all!
Other Things to Note
We love (potty trained) pets and they are welcome to stay here, but please clean up after them, and make sure they won't jump a small fence to eat our 3 little dogs.
A Burbank City & House Guide will be waiting for you when you get here. It includes helpful hints, tips, rules, and numbers to the best local restaurants and takeout. Also includes wifi password and checkout instructions.
Absolutely no smoking indoors please. You may of course do what you need to do while you're outside, with the doors closed.
Do be considerate of our neighbors- no loud music/parties after 10pm.
Please put used towels and sheets in the striped laundry bin at the end of your stay. (Anything that's still wet can stay hanging up.) Wash and put away any dishes and cookware you use. Basically leave things generally the way you found them and clean up after yourself, and we'll love you forever.
I'm sure we will only have the most wonderful guests, but in case of the worst case scenario that excessive cleaning is needed after your departure, additional cleaning fees will be deducted from your Deposit.
If you'd like to meet up or need something, please text us instead of coming to our door, and we'll work it out with you directly, and in a very timely manner. (We have dogs and a baby to wrangle, and we work from home a lot of the time.)
Long Term Guests (over 1 week):
We provide a fresh set of sheets and towels, as well as clean back up sets. You are responsible for your own laundry (laundromat is 0.3mi away) and cleaning while you are here, with the supplies provided.
Depending on the length of your stay, we may discuss bringing in a professional cleaning team at a mutually agreed upon time/frequency, and additional expense.
You will be responsible for replacing or reimbursing for any damaged/broken items, and you will be responsible for your own safety and behavior, as well as that of any guest you bring home.
We will also require an Emergency Contact during your stay, just in case anything happens.
*Communication is the most important thing!*
Looking forward to hosting your stay!
Sylvia & Adam Hendershott :)
From Dec 01, 2016 - Feb 28, 2017 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
I'm a USC Dramatic Arts grad, born and raised in Burbank. My husband Adam is a photographer, specializing in kids' fashion and celeb portraits, and prior to that, he was an actor from age 6-27. We are high school sweethearts, together since Y2K, and we were married in 2009.
In early 2014, Adam launched The Headshot Truck, the first mobile photo studio for actors. Super excited to have been featured in the LA Times, ABC 7 News and CBS The Insider already!
We have 3 furry dog-kids, Sophie (Maltese, 8), Bella (Maltese, 6) and Dudley (Border/Terrier mix, 2), and we have new baby girl born March 21 2015!
We love- (all) food, family, coffee, movies, going on adventures, craft beer, interesting architecture/design/art/photography, history, Pandora/Spotify, Red Laser, Amazon Prime ...and food. :)
We went to Coachella in April 2014. It. Was. Awesome.
I have a sweet spot for savory foods (bread, pasta, cheese, popcorn, steak, quinoa....), and Adam just loves sweets (cookies, chocolate, muffins, cake...).
We love green juice and smoothies. There's a really yummy juice place nearby too. Mmmm.
We watch all the Oscar buzzy movies during the Christmas season, and watch the Awards show every year. It's tradition.
We watched HIMYM in real time, every episode. Loved Lost. Now we're on Brooklyn Nine Nine, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, Mad Men, Masters of Sex, Homeland, Episodes, SYTYCD, and VEEP. Wow. We kinda do watch a lot of TV. But that's ok cuz we get A LOT done. :)
Pretty much anything somebody put love, thought, care and attention to detail into, we really notice and appreciate. Even if it's a deli sandwich or a little container garden. Sadly, I have a black thumb, but I'm working on it!
When we travel, we pride ourselves on going EVERYWHERE. We know how to pack it in. We hit the tourist stops, but always love asking the locals what their favorite spots are- that's the BEST.
A Highlight: We went skydiving at 8am New Year's Day, 2007 in Oahu's North Shore. Spectacular morning view with the green island surrounded by miles of blue ocean. Awesome way to kick off the year.
When you stay with us, we want you to feel special, comfortable and taken care of! We've tried to think of everything you might need in advance. If we've forgotten something, be sure to reach out!
We are happy to interact with you as much or as little as you like. Our listed space is separate with its own private entrance, but we're just a quick text message away.
We tend to attract the yummiest, high vibing people, and that's really awesome. I believe that positive intentions are powerful, and that compassion, empathy, acceptance and a warm smile can create the world we all hope for, one person at a time.
