My husband and I spent a wonderful, relaxing 5 days in the Treehouse (not literally, but it certainly feels like one as you look thru the branches at the surf!). Both owners and staff were very helpful and friendly - gave us plenty of space, but we knew how to find them if we had a question or request. The shower was remarkable for Nicaragua; there was plenty of storage space - altho all you really need is a bathing suit and cover up; the bed and fans were great for sleeping, and we loved sitting out on the balcony for our meals. Will definitely repeat!
We spent 5 days at the Tree House. The apartment we stayed in was perfect : perfectly located on the most beautiful sand beach of the island offering a sick view on the waves! The people here were helpful and always eager to make us enjoy our stay. I definitely recommend this place. Thanks !!
We were greeted and had any questions answered by Helen, who we assumed was the housekeeper. Helen is pleasant,,kind and helpful , always with a smile,we also enjoyed her daughters. We hardly saw Kathy, she was gone most of the time and was unengaged with her guests when she was there.
Sorry , I wasn't more engaging. Most of our vacation rental quests both here and in the North appreciate our letting them enjoy the property in private. I am busy opening a dive shop on Corn Island so unless I hear from Helen something needs attention ,I pretty much leave every one to their own devices. Thank you for choosing us.
We couldn't imagine staying anywhere else on Corn Island. It is located on the most beautiful portion of the island with the nicest beach. A little off the beaten path in the best way possible but still just a short walk or bike ride to the best restaurants and bars on the island.
Don and his staff were beyond hospitable making bikes available, preparing home cooked lobster meals on the beach, arranging for freshly baked coconut bread, and making us feel at home. Just incredible people. Everything was perfect from start to finish, and we can't wait to book our next trip, hopefully for a much longer stay!
Don, Kathy, their adorable dogs and fantastic housekeeper/facilities coordinator, Helen, gave us a warm welcome. The "Treehouse" is every bit as amazing as the photos suggest. Though it's across a dirt road from the beach rather than directly overlooking the water, we chose it rather than the "Crow's Nest" (also listed on airbnb) for the additional privacy of being separated from the family compound. While the Crow's Nest is built over the main house and accessed by a staircase within the courtyard, the Treehouse is built over a utility room nestled in native vegetation, a wild garden and a rustic chicken run. We were welcomed to the fresh eggs, the wi-fi, and the cooking or laundry services of Helen (for very reasonable fees). She and her husband were a wonderful source of information about the island, restaurants and directions. At their suggestion, we discovered the local hang-out at Spekito's Place, less than a mile from the house, where we enjoyed the best fried fish we found during our entire stay on the island. Be prepared to pay cash though; most local services and restaurants on the island do not accept plastic. Casa Canada (which will accept credit card) has a foreigner-friendly restaurant that serves a variety of North American and Carribbean cuisine, and was readily accessible with the bikes we rented from our hosts. Taxis are extremely affordable if hailed from the roadside, if riding for your meals doesn't appeal. The Treehouse itself epitomizes the simplicity of island living, while showcasing outstanding local artisan craftsmanship in the woodwork and striking tile designs. The breeze through the shutters was lovely. Overall, it was a comfortable, functional space for a couple with ample storage, a well-appointed kitchen and bathroom, and instant access to one of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean side of the island. We felt more safe here than in any of the other regions of the mainland we visited, and were additionally reassured by the presence of a night-guard downstairs. When an extremely delayed flight from the island to the mainland left us unable to make our next tour connection, and thus without any accommodations, our hosts very graciously allowed us to extend our stay at the Treehouse on short notice. We would return in a heartbeat, and for much longer than our 6-day honeymoon allowed. The island casts a spell on travelers that is hard to escape...
