About This Listing
Bon bini na Westpunt!
Welcome to Westpunt (west point), and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of Curaçao! The ocean front bungalow is located on Marazul Dive Resort. Our bungalow is the most spacious, fully equipped (the only one with laundry machine, dishwasher and warm and cold running water) and well maintained. The spacious terrace on the first floor has a unique view over the Caribbean sea. In the evening it is a good place to view the sunset and the beautifully lit fishing village of West Point. In the morning, with some luck you can see Dolphins playing just in front of you. Marazul Dive Resort has facilities for scuba divers.
West Point is the ideal place to enjoy the finest beaches. Playa Forti is within walking distance of the Resort, and within five minutes drive you can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Playa Knip Grandi and Playa Knip Chiki. You can meet the fishermen and buy fresh fish for your BBQ.
For the sporty ones among you there is ample to do. At the Resort, divers will regularly meet kindred spirits. There is access to the sea to where the best dives are located. Within 20 minutes by car, one can visit over 10 beautiful dive sites! For hikers and mountain bikers, the area around Mount Christopher and the Northern Coast area are highly recommended. Families with small children can enjoy the nearby pool.
Willemstad, the capital of Curaçao is 35 km away from our resort. A bus takes you there once every 2 hours. We recommend a car however. We have contacts with a car rental service and can assist you. You will be picked up at the airport and you can also return the car there.
The Resort is highly appreciated by previous guests. Our guests rewarded our bungalow with an average score of 8.6 on a 10 point scale. Also Marazul Dive Resort is rewarded by TripAdvisor with a Certificate of Excellence 2012 and 2013.
Hope to welcome you soon.
Except for a few cabinets with personal belongings, you have access to the entire house. The swimming pool is shared with other people staying at the resort. On both sides of the resort are locations where you can enter the sea directly for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
Interaction with Guests
Because we do not live on Curaçao contact will be provided by the resort manager René. Of course there is always the possibility to contact us through Airbnb whenever needed
Westpunt is located at the north-west part of Curacao. It offers tranquility and nature. It is suitable for those seeking tranquility, sun lovers, beach lovers, divers, snorkeling, sports outings, and nature lovers. It is less suitable for party animals and casino fans. Good restaurants are in the neighbourhood.
Once every two hours there is a bus service between Westpunt and Willemstad. The trip costs a few Dollars. To be able to travel to beaches and sites nearby freely, we recommend a car.
1. The government of Curacao charges 7% tax on the total rental price (including extras). This tax is not included in the list price.
2. Included in the list price is 40 KW Electricity. This will do when the airconditioning units are only used at night. Additional consumption is deducted from the security deposit.
3. Included in the list price is water consumption.
4. It is possible to have basic needs available in your refregerator upon arrival. If required, please inform me and resort management can take care of these basic needs.
Our time at Nico's property was amazing and exactly as described. The property, one of several units on the resort grounds, is one of (if not) the best units available; the entire unit is private, unlike other units which are sometimes split in half. The property itself is quiet, beautiful, and well maintained by a very friendly manager. The upstairs bedroom opens up to a full terrace with an ocean front, unobstructed (except by palm trees, which we didn't mind) view of the most brilliant blue water and amazing equatorial sunsets. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils and other essential cookware. The downstairs bedroom, upstairs bedroom, and living room all had air conditioners (but we didn't ever use them). The bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, though there is no door separating the bedrooms from the bathrooms (not a problem for my boyfriend and I). Mosquito netting was provided and also a must, despite the screens on the doors and windows. In short, we felt like Nico's property was a home away from home, with all of the conveniences (even satellite TV, which we never used either) and comforts of home. We were very, very sad to leave. The only thing to note, as one can see on google maps or the resort website itself, is that the units are fairly close together. Depending on the neighbors one gets, one's experience could be very different.
The location is exactly what we wanted - away from the beaten tourist path (it takes 45+ minutes to drive from the main town where cruise ships call to port) and is super close (t have the pleasure of meeting Nico in person. However, Nico was extremely helpful and responsive to emails, answering all of our questions (however inane) in a timely and complete manner. The resort manager was super friendly and helpful as well and as of this writing is present 6 days a week.
Our stay at this bungalow was wonderful. The dwelling was spacious, attractive, comfortable and right near the water. We could snorkel right out front! Other people were scuba diving. We rented a car as suggested and were able to get around to the nearby area beaches 5-15 min away, and national park 8 min. away, and the really cool ostrich farm about 40 min away. Nearby restaurants were available, but we cooked and enjoyed staying at the resort most of the time. The information given to us by our host was most helpful, and the manager was kind and helpful too. We purchased groceries on our way in. Over all we would rate our experience 4.5 out of 5. Thank You So Much! Look forward to visiting in the future. Laura
Nico is a great host. Very responsive, and answered all our questions prior to arrival. The bungalow was great! Exactly as described. We appreciated the recent upgrade of mosquito nets on all the windows, and the new kitchen was easy to use. The resort is fantastic, its amazing to wake up every morning to an ocean view! The resort management staff were very helpful as well, and made us feel welcome. Overall, highly recommend staying here! It's quiet, private and very relaxing!
Nico was very responsive to our inquiries through the booking process as well as during our stay. The printed resort guide that we received before our arrival was very helpful and had some good suggestions for getting around our new surroundings. The resort manager, Rene, was especially helpful and very friendly stopping by daily to let us in on special things to do and good restaurants/grocery stores in the area
Our host, Nico, has been helpful and attentive from the start, especially careful to transmit all the information we could need to feel at home in his apartment, and generally in Curacao. Thanks to him we felt in security at all time, with every contacts we could need in Curacao, down to beach suggestions, rental car and supermarket. He is a 5 stars host.
The apartment is neat, very well maintained, spacious. Many towels (including for the beach!); a simple but well equipped kitchen, a char-coal Weber facing the sunset that made made wonders. Maybe because we were in to snorkel and dive, we particularly appreciated the access to the sea, right in our backyard. We went at the end of July and it was quiet, not crowded at all in the resort, nor in Westpunt, which is a remote very small village that is idyllic for whom wants the sea, a crazy wonderful submarine life, many small wild beaches, and feel quiet.
It was a last minute reservation, nevertheless, everything went absolutely smoothly. Thank you Nico!
We loved it !!! Great Views, well maintained property. Excellent location for scuba in Westpunt. Rene, the property manager was most helpful. Nico was also very responsive to our last minute reservation and requests. They were able to co-ordinate supplies to be available due to our late arrival. We strongly suggest shopping prior to arrival in Westpunt as there are not any stores around. The breezes are nice and we were able to open up the house during the day but needed to close the 4 sliding glass doors at night due to the bugs. It seems this is the norm everywhere with screens for the windows but not the doors. It was very easy to dry things outside.
Nico is a great host and provides great detailed information about his place and the island.
About the Host, Nico
Hello dear visitor,
When I was almost 2 years old I arrived on Curaçao with my mother. My father was already there as he worked for Shell. I left Curaçao to go to a boarding school in Holland at the age of 15. At the age of 20 we left the island as my father retired, and so the family went back to Holland.
As aircraft maintenance engineer specialized in helicopters I traveled a lot. I have seen quite some nice places and met lovely people. After some 40 years I returend to Curaçao and immediately felt home. It is no wonder, with such a climate, the warm harted people, the stunning sea and its beaches, the food. Curaçao has stolen my hart. I assure you that you will love it there.
