The space

The home AND the neighborhood are full of authentic New Orleans character. Home has antique pine floors, 12' ceilings, original large, refinished claw foot tub for soaking or showers. Eclectic mix of furnishings & art. 3 sleeping areas / 1 bath - prefer 2 guests - may consider more. This is a home environment of peace & tranquility which host aims to preserve for herself (home is "double shotgun - host lives on other side) & her wonderful neighbors. It's a place to rest & relax as you enjoy this wonderful city.

Guest access

Sweet landscaped backyard space with table & chairs for relaxing outdoors. High speed internet. Satellite TV. Library of books on New Orleans, Louisiana & the Caribbean to be enjoyed on site only.

Interaction with guests

Host available in person, by phone, text or email. Happy to offer information about the city & points beyond and/or stay out of the way if not needed. Effort made to keep up to date local publications on happenings around the city. Have a growing collection of menus from restaurants although just a "tip of the iceberg." Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, etc. within easy walking distance.

The neighborhood

Walking distance to so many cool places - Bayou St.John, City Park, Esplanade Ave. shopping & restaurants. French Quarter & other popular city sights are a longer walk, short bike ride or (I'm told) inexpensive taxi ride. Neighborhood is great mix of all walks of life.

Getting around

Street car stops nearby at either Canal St. (up Jeff Davis Blvd. from my house) or at City Park by Museum of Art. Bus service nearby as well as many taxi services.

Other things to note

Cleaning fee $100 for extended stay (more than 6 days). Security Deposit of $300 required for 30 day stays/ $600 for more than 30 day. Out of deposit will be deducted electricity charge (metered - typically $40 - $100 depending on need for A/C or Heat) and the $100 cleaning fee. Remainder will be returned to guest if no damage. Washer / dryer available for long term stays. Jazz Fest Premium (last weekend in April - 1st weekend in May) - amount undecided at moment - will be applied.
