Absolutely loved this house! I would recommend anyone wanting to stay in New Orleans to check this place out. Lee was a wonderful hostess. Very knowledgeable about where to go, eat, things to see. I've been coming to New Orleans since 1976 and one thing I've learned it's ever changing. It was great to have someone who can recommend new things. I believe the location is great - it's just a trolley ride away from the Quarter but a nice, safe retreat at the end of the day. Loved it and Lee's pups too!
I stayed at Lee's place for a whole week and my sister joined me there for 4 days. We had a wonderful time! Lee was a very thoughtful and gracious host helping us get familiar with a new city and giving us pointers on what to see (and what to avoid!). Her house was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well equipped which was great for us since both my sister and I love to cook and eat and drink! While there I broke a wine glass as well as small bowl but Lee was very sweet about it and brushed it off with an "accidents happen" remark, which I very much appreciated. She was friendly and helpful, but left us alone to enjoy ourselves too. I enthusiastically recommend Lee's place to anyone who wants a place slightly off the beaten track and not bang right in the French quarter.
Lee is an attentive host and a wonderful person :) She gives great local insights for experiencing the Mardi Gras and NOLA in general. We stayed at her side of the double shotgun and it is truly a gem! The house is so tasteful and interesting, decorated with all her unique finds from around the world. I'm so glad we didn't stay at the FQ but at Lee's, it was our sanctuary after a wild day of fun.
For me this was an idyll of a stay. Lee couldn't have been more welcoming, informative or helpful & yet allowed me to get on with things on my own.
The shotgun is well-provisioned and comfortable with all mods cons. Lee has also provided here an excellent range of books about the city and Louisiana, and the walls are decorated with nifty music posters.
The location is great, near City Park & the Jazz Fest site -- for those looking to be close to the Quarter it's likely a bit too far away, but for those seeking a less frenetic location with character, this part of town suits to a tee. And within a few minutes walk there is a choice of grocery stores, an assortment of neighbourhood eateries, and the art gallery in City Park.
If opportunity allows to return to New Orleans I would definitely come back & would check availability with Lee as a first choice.
Thanks Lee, a lot!
My father and I stayed at Lee's shotgun for a week over the New Year period. The house is lovely and and very well presented. The area has a great selection of local restaurants and it was easy for us to navigate our way around town from Lee's house as a base. All in all we had a fabulous experience here and would recommend it to everybody.
My parents loved staying in Lee's beautiful house. It was convenient for them to enjoy city park and walk around the neighborhood. Lee was always available for any questions or just to chat. They had a really wonderful time! Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice, neat & quiet place to enjoy one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city.
Lee is a great host and her home is lovely. She responded to all inquiries before and during our visit very promptly, and had some great recommendations on local places to check out. The home is very comfortable and Lee made us feel welcome with coffee and muffins waiting for us. The neighborhood is a long, pleasant walk from the French Quarter and is also accessible by the streetcar line.
