I've lived in Lower Manhattan the past 8 years, which is almost a night and day difference compared to uptwon manhattan. The apartment is on the border of Lower East Side, Chinatown, Nolita, and Little Italy. Being downtown, almost everything is within a short walk which will take you thru a different neighborhood every 5 minutes
The B & D subway line is less than a minute walk from the apartment, which will take you anywhere in the city or connect you to another line. The F M J Z subway lines are a 5 minute walk from the apartment, which will take you JFK airport.

Staying at Brendan apartment was incredible. The apartment was huge, more than enough space for my 7 friends (which was difficult to find). The bedrooms had plenty of room with large beds - we found ourselves sleeping in as they were so comfortable. The apartment was very clean, the cleaning lady had actually let us into the apartment as Brendan was working. It had all the essentials and more, which really made for a great home away from home. As a host Brendan was also very accommodating and let us keep our bags in the apartment the last day as my friends had a later flight.
The apartment is located in my favorite part of town, close to little Italy, short walk to Soho, and fun bars in Lower East Side. Brendan had some great recommendations to some hidden spots in Chinatown and LES we would have never crossed. We also went to his restaurant where he again made sure we were treated well and the food was excellent. I couldn't have asked for a better apartment to stay at or a better host! Thanks so much, I hope to be back soon.
Brendan's apartment was spacious, clean and very convenient to subway lines and great shopping/eating. We had access to everything we needed in the apartment. We found Brendan to be really responsive and helpful with anything we needed. A big thumbs up!
If you are a couple (who can shut the other bedroom doors) or only after a bed to share and sleep with a number of party couples without a care for comfort of surroundings then this apartment may be an okay apartment to stay.
As a nice/comfortable retreat for any more than three people, it is not.
Brendan, the owner of the apartment communicates well via text and email and is open to provide a microwave or toaster if asked; however we were gobsmacked when on the first evening we discovered that the air-conditioners that were placed on window sills that were inappropriately “sealed” with plastic, gaped open to leave wide gaps directly to the road out the front of the building which meant the noise, smells and insects from the street merrily made their way into one of our bedrooms. When called upon about this Brendan brought around a $2:50 packet of grey foam to “pack” the holes - but we decided the mattress on the hallway floor was preferable for trying to sleep. To pay what we did for the apartment warranted greater responsibility by Brendan to ensure the apartment was at least airtight. There were various other issues such as dirty water leaking from ceiling pipes onto the floor and only one key provided for a party of four. We were very disappointed in this apartment.
Thank you for your feedback Lanette. As you were the first person to stay since the 3 air conditioning units were put in the apartment (early June), there was a slight small gap between the A/C flaps and the wall. Once you brought this to my attention, I went and bought a A/C unit cover to fill in the small gap that very day. I also brought the super/ building maintenance person to properly seal up the small gap, but you wouldn't allow access to my apartment so I gave them to you. This was a very small issue, which you blew way out of proportion, and has been fixed and properly sealed since you left. Most of the people that do stay are couples, and the apartment easily, easily fits parties of 6-8 people. There are 3 large true bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed. The apartment is 1200 square feet and for you to claim the apartment can only accommodate 3 is absurd. And really should speak volumes to the validity of your review. My other reviews mention how accommodating i am as a host and how nice it is to stay in a apartment that can comfortably sleep so many people The apartment is massive for Manhattan standards, especially in the more desirable downtown location. I am sorry as you mentioned manhattan can be overwhelming, and your work trip didnt work out as planned, but please don't take your unpreparedness for city life out on me or my apartment. The "leaks" you mention, is simply water condensation from the pipes. For future guests, please read my other reviews about the quality of the apartment and me as a host.
It was a pleasure to stay in your loft during our vacation last May/June 2015.
The loft is spacious, very clean and the kitchen is well stocked.
A perfect location to move to other wonderful places by subway.... Within 2-5 minutes walkingdistance.
Nearby you can also find different Italian and Chinese restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
We all had a very nice time in NY and once again, we will thank you for the very good service.
Certainly we will recommend this place to family and friends.
Greetings from your guests from Suriname (South-America)
Brendan was a great host - very help and responsive the key pickup/drop off was really simple. The apartment is in a great location in Chinatown with easy access to all the fun the lower east side has to offer.
It was sometimes pretty hot inside the apartment but the little air conditioning unit in the living area helped take the edge off the heat. Great place to crash while exploring the city and really good value too! My friends and I had a great time staying at Brendan's place and will keep it in mind for future visits to NYC.
The listing was accurate, Brendan was busy and could not welcome us personally, but the key drop was super easy and hassle-free.
Beds were comfortable, internet was blazing fast, living space was roomy. This was a great listing and I encourage others to try this gem in Chinatown!
Brendan is a very nice guy. It was very easy to communicate with him to get to this great apartment! He also gave me a few good recommendations on places to have a few drinks at and where to grab some good pizza. Man, what a deal this was. I loved the location. You can walk a few blocks in any direction and hop into cool trendy shops, and find great local food. I felt like a real New Yorker staying here. The place itself was big! The mirror is a nice touch to make sure you look good before heading out. We had fresh linens, and all the appliances and plumbing were working just fine. Another great thing is that it was a block from a subway stop. So getting to Midtown or anywhere else on the island is a snap. When i come back to New York, this is where I'm going to stay again. Thanks Brendan for being such a great host! I really appreciate you setting me up!
