The Space

Firstly please note we have TWO large deluxe en-suite rooms and only one listing therefore if the dates you have in mind appear booked, please always contact us (using different dates in the inquiry) as one room could still be available.

Our house is right on the border of Bournemouth and Poole, near the beach and in the quiet, leafy, conservation area of Branksome Park. It is in prime position for those visiting Bournemouth, Poole, Westbourne, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Swanage or beyond.

We have two large contemporary en-suite guest bedrooms on the 2nd floor. One has a King size bed, large TV and bath/shower, the other has twin beds with TV and shower. WiFi is available throughout the house and we can usually collect guests from Bournemouth or Branksome stations - off street parking is available for those arriving by car.

From our house it is only a 5 minute walk through a lovely chine (see Chineland) to the fabulous Poole Bay with its 10 miles of award winning sandy blue flag beaches sheltered by the Isle of Wight to the east and the Purbeck Peninsular to the west. From the beach, you can walk 20 minutes east along the promenade to Bournemouth town centre or the same distance west to Sandbanks, passing the stylish cliff top village of Canford Cliffs on the way. The local village of Westbourne with its eclectic mix of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars is only a short walk away and we also have a nice local pub in an Edwardian building that serves food lunch times and evenings. The ‘best ride in town’ No 50 bus (open top in summer) stops right outside us on its way from Bournemouth to Swanage and includes a free ride on the Sandbanks chain ferry, however the best way to fully appreciate the surrounding area is by car.

If you drive 30 minutes east you can be in the heart of the atmospheric New Forest or - 20 minutes west and you are at the start of the Jurassic Coast and the 630 mile long South West Coast Path - Studland Bay, Swanage, Corfe Castle and the 'lost' village of Tyneham are nearby. A little further and you reach the stunning Lulworth Cove and the famous rock arch of Durdle Door - nearby are the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Clouds Hill, the home and final resting place of Lawrence of Arabia. Next comes Weymouth, Chesil Beach and Dorchester, (Thomas Hardy country) Lyme Regis and beyond. If you drive north for 20 minutes into the wonderful Dorset countryside you can visit the historic town of Wimborne Minster (not missing the ancient chain library in the Minster) and a little further to the old market town of Blandford Forum passing the Roman hill fort 'Bradbury Rings' on the way. You can also visit the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury (and Stonehenge) in one day out touring by car - and maybe even fit in a stop at ‘Downton Abbey’ (Highclere Castle). We are truly a location for all seasons.

*A £35 per room supplement is payable for 1 night only bookings*

Our accommodation is best suited to international travellers and those seeking a restful time and setting who like to spend the days out exploring. We are not really suitable for young children or families seeking ‘bucket and spade’ beach holidays or late night Bournemouth clubbers.

  • Lovely clean room and ensuite, full of sun, overlooking a beautiful garden. Beautiful area, a few minutes away from the sea and magnificent coastline.

The bed was comfortable, bath a good size and breakfast also good.

Rick and Ann were welcoming and very interesting - I will most definitely returning, either with my husband or friends.

  • Ann and Rick are really nice, actually far more than nice. They are so thoughtful. Rick picked up us at the train station, and gave us a tour of the town on the way back to their place. Ann's cooking is soooooo great. She prepared different things for our breakfast in the two days, and we had the best breakfast there in our 10 days trip.

Their place is even better than what it looks like on the picture. The room is cozy and neat. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty, you will have a beautiful walk from there to the beach.

If you are planning to travel around this area, their place is the perfect choice. We will definitely stay their again.

  • Ann and Rick are fantastic people and they have a lovely bright, clean and modern house in a brilliant location. We had a great time and Rick even dropped us to the station at the end of our stay as well as giving us a lift to the wedding we were attending. We really enjoyed the breakfasts in the morning and they gave us some great information on the local area. If you're in the area we recommend you stay with them.

  • Ann and Rick were delightful hosts and we would recommend them to everyone and anyone. The house is immaculate and the room equipped to 5 star hotel standards, with all you could hope for . Breakfasts were plentiful and delicious and chats about the travels and experience of this lovely couple were fun and fascinating. The location is a short and stunning walk over a chine to the beach, equidistant to sandbanks and Bournemouth. And the 50 bus is right outside the door for those who don't feel like walking to many of the delights the area has to offer.

  • Lived up to the description, our bedroom was lovely. Ann and Rick were very welcoming and ensured we enjoyed our stay. Anne made us very tasty breakfasts each day and both Anne and Rick gave us plenty of suggestions for what to do and where to go. House was in a great position, a short walk from the beach and a bus stop outside to get to Swanage or Bournemouth and a peaceful neighbourhood for a good nights sleep.

  • What a lovely weekend we had!!! Ann and Rick are absolutely fantastic hosts, they are friendly and open people, who make as feel at home. The room and the whole house is extremely clean and tidy. The room is very spacious and had plenty of storage space. The shower was great. Peter (my husband) asked me to mention the abundant and delicious fruit salads at breakfast time, not to mention the rest of food. Last but not least, the location - just a few steps from various restaurants stores and an amazing beach... and by car you can reach gorgeous natural spots in less than an hour.

  • Ann and Rick were very welcoming and friendly. Delightful hosts and spotless accommodation. As first timers to airbnb they have set the bar very high for future stays. Would like to thank them for local info, concern that we get the best out of our stay, and perfect breakfasts. Lovely genuine people and hope to stay again. Lindsey and graham

  • Ann and her husband Rick are hosts par excellence: they are congenial people, with a lovely sense of humour and a cosmopolitan outlook, being extremely well-travelled, and conversations with them are a delight. They offer useful advice and suggestions, and are accommodating without being obtrusive. Their home is immaculate, with many beautiful paintings, befitting the impeccable aesthetic taste of art dealers. Their garden is particularly lovely, with clematis, rhododendrons, marguerites, azaeleas and other flowers galore, and provides a tranquil and sunny spot to relax in. Ann also ensures that her guests have a healthy and scrumptious breakfast. The ensuite bedroom was comfortable and spacious, with all the mod-cons like a huge flat-screen television set and touch-control bedside lamps, in addition to thoughtful little touches like fragrant incense sticks to scent the room and a stack of travel/lifestyle magazines in case reading material is suddenly needed. We would not hesitate to stay with them again, and if we do relocate to Bournemouth/Poole, we consider Ann and Rick to be the first friends we have made. Highly recommended!

We are semi retired contemporary art dealers (Swedish & English) and our house also doubles as our gallery these days. Having previously lived and worked in London, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Sydney and Los Angeles, we fairly recently moved to this wonderful area of the UK’s south coast after closing our London art gallery. We are widely travelled and enjoy meeting other travellers and therefore find Airbnb a fun thing to do.
