Our contemporary styled house is situated between Sandbanks & Bournemouth and is easily reached by car, train or bus.
Please say which room you would like when booking and we recommend reading our FULL listing.
Airbnb prices are for one room.
Firstly please note we have TWO large deluxe en-suite rooms and only one listing therefore if the dates you have in mind appear booked, please always contact us (using different dates in the inquiry) as one room could still be available.
Our house is right on the border of Bournemouth and Poole, near the beach and in the quiet, leafy, conservation area of Branksome Park. It is in prime position for those visiting Bournemouth, Poole, Westbourne, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Swanage or beyond.
We have two large contemporary en-suite guest bedrooms on the 2nd floor. One has a King size bed, large TV and bath/shower, the other has twin beds with TV and shower. WiFi is provided throughout the house and off street parking is available for those arriving by car.
From our house it is only a 5 minute walk through a lovely chine (see Chineland) to the fabulous Poole Bay with its 10 miles of award winning sandy blue flag beaches sheltered by the Isle of Wight to the east and the Purbeck Peninsular to the west. From the beach, you can walk 20 minutes east along the promenade to Bournemouth town centre or the same distance west to Sandbanks, passing the stylish cliff top village of Canford Cliffs on the way. The local village of Westbourne with its eclectic mix of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars is only a short walk away and we also have a nice local pub in an Edwardian building that serves food lunch times and evenings. The ‘best ride in town’ No 50 bus (open top in summer) stops right outside us on its way from Bournemouth to Swanage and includes a free ride on the Sandbanks chain ferry, however the best way to fully appreciate the surrounding area is by car.
If you drive 30 minutes east you can be in the heart of the atmospheric New Forest. If you drive 20 minutes west you are at the start of the Jurassic Coast and the 630 mile long South West Coast Path; Studland Bay, Swanage, Corfe Castle and the ghost village of Tyneham are nearby. A little further and you reach the stunning Lulworth Cove and the famous rock arch of Durdle Door - nearby are the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Clouds Hill, the home and final resting place of Lawrence of Arabia. Next comes Weymouth, Chesil Beach and Dorchester, (Thomas Hardy country) Lyme Regis and beyond. If you drive north for 20 minutes into the wonderful Dorset countryside you can visit the historic town of Wimborne Minster (not missing the ancient chain library in the Minster) and a little further to the old market town of Blandford Forum passing the Roman hill fort 'Bradbury Rings' on the way. You can also visit the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury (and Stonehenge) in one day out touring by car - and maybe even fit in a stop at ‘Downton Abbey’ (Highclere Castle). Bath and Castle Combe are also accessible by car. We are truly a location for all seasons.
Our accommodation is best suited to international travellers and those seeking a restful time and setting who like to spend the days out exploring. We are not really suitable for young children or families seeking ‘bucket and spade’ beach holidays or late night Bournemouth clubbers.
Please check out our 'House Rules' before enquiring.
We are a mainly non-meat eating household and breakfast is what we call continental plus = cereal, yoghurt, eggs (free range of course), toast, fruit, etc. - soya milk is always available and gluten free bread with notice on booking. A full English breakfast (unhealthy fry-up) can be found at nearby café's if really required. Please note we occasionally have a small friendly dog on the premises and our accommodation is not suitable for young children or for people with mobility issues.
HOUSE RULES: No Smoking and No Shoes in the house please. Thank you.
We had a fantastic time with Ann and her husband Rick. We felt very welcome and we greatly appreciated the warmth of our hosts. The house is gorgeous. Our room was very neat, we had a big bed, big windows with tons of light, and a very fancy bathroom. Ann & Rick gave us great tips where to go, what to do. The house is 5min walk from the beach.
We have stay in Ann house for two night, the house is very new, clean, super comfortable bed and shower. Ann and her husband Rick, they are a super nice host, they make u feel happy all the time.
When we arrived their home, we are so touching that they have already tailor-made all the travel information for us, the "post code" it is very useful for the GPS direction get to the place, makes our trip much more smooth and safe.
Ann make the super lovely breakfast for us, the eggs so yummy, fresh fruit is already cut into a small pieces and mix up together, is so thoughtful for us, so that we can try many different kind of fruit in the same time, I love cooking, that why I know to do is salad is spend a lot of time.
We feel that staying in Ann's house is a pleasure experience, and can feel that they are heartily to make all the things best, actually, it's already the best.
We will definitely recommend my friend to stay in Ann & Rick's house.
Thank you so much to Ann and Rick.
Our stay with Ann and Rick was FANTASTIC!! The room was spotless, very comfortable, quiet and lovely. They made us very welcome in their beautiful house and provided lots of information on local trips, tours and visits that they had put together themselves.
The wonderful beach is just 5 minutes’ walk down the beautiful "chine" and they even have a list of all the local restaurants and eateries with recommendations from previous guests. Breakfast was great with freshly made fruit salad, eggs as you like them and delicious coffee “made to order”.
Thanks Ann and Rick for making our too short a stay a break we won’t forget and we’ll be back for sure, sooner than later. A big 5 stars from us! Mark & Steph
Ann and Rick epitomise the airbnb experience and are everything you could want from a host. They were welcoming, friendly, generous and they clearly care a lot about the people who stay with them.
We arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday evening and were back out of the house about an hour later with a wealth of local information, directions and recommendations for places to eat. We had very little previous knowledge of the area and considering it was also a surprise trip for my wife, we hadn't done any research either. This didn't matter though as the information provided by Ann and Rick was superb.
Unfortunately the weather was a bit pants but there was still a huge amount of things to do and it was still a lovely trip nonetheless.
I couldn't recommend you more to stay with Ann and Rick if you get the chance. They are great people.
Ann and Rik were the perfect hosts giving us a terrific start to our Airbnb experiences. Their house is in a beautiful street with a 10 minute walk down to the sea. Our room was large with a comfy bed and furnished in a Swedish style which retained warmth and coziness. Rik drove us to our wedding venue and their arrangements for our late night return worked perfectly. We would like to return at a future date to explore more of this beautiful area, and Ann and Rik have lots of ideas and maps to help you plan this. Thank you both for a great time
Ann and Rick are lovely hosts, they made us feel very welcome in their home. We were a party of three, sharing the two lovely bedrooms, each of which had an ensuite - lovely showers! Both rooms also had a TV and lovely views of the treetops. Appreciated the hairdryer.
Breakfast was amazing, with fresh coffee, tea and juice, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, bread, ham & cheese - and lovely scrambled and poached eggs made by Ann!
The location is perfect for visiting the local areas, many of which are World Heritage sites. We were very impressed with the buses and there was a bus stop just outside the house. Good base to visit Sandbanks, Bournemouth, Poole, Swanage etc. The group ticket on the buses offered a bit of a reduction which is nice. Ann and Rick were expert guides and advised us of the best ways to get around.
WHAT TO DO/ WHAT WE DID
When we arrived we had some ideas about what we wanted to see and do - Sandbanks, Poole, Bournemouth, Brownsea Island - and Ann & Rick had lots of suggestions for us. We thought the guide they had put together was fantastic! We followed one of the suggested itineraries on the Sunday, taking the bus to the Old Harry Rocks, then walking along the clifftop to Swanage, stopping for mandatory fish & chips and ice cream on the beach before getting the steam train to Corfe Castle. It was a great day out and a nice relaxing break from city life! We particularly enjoyed looking at the estate agents windows and picking which £3m house we'd like to buy in Sandbanks... We ate a late dinner at the Coffee Club, a Mediterranean restaurant in Westbourne, the nearest high street to the house, which we really really enjoyed.
Monday was pouring with rain, but we headed out to Bournemouth on the bus all the same and spent some time in the shops (pretty good selection) and the arcades by the beach. Went on a search for a cream tea and read that Frieda's Tearoom was the best according to Tripadvisor, but found it closed for the bank holiday (though looked amazing through the window so check it out!), so had tea and cake instead at Alcatraz, an Italian restaurant with patchy service but good food.
It was a brilliant trip and we really enjoyed staying with Ann & Rick. There is far too much to do in the area for just one weekend. We'd like to visit again and would definitely look to stay here again! Thanks!!
My friend Annie and I stayed four days at Ann and Rick's house and we felt most welcome. Our lovely twin bedroom (en suite) was as described, very spacious, extremely clean and comfortable, very quiet (a residential area with lots of big trees). The house itself is beautiful and immaculate, with an artistic feel about it. Ann prepared excellent and abundant breakfasts. The house is situated in a very convenient and beautiful area, quiet, within very easy walking distance to the shops and cafés of Westbourne, to the beach, and with the bus in front of the house. We were able to visit many places thanks to the 50 bus (with a day ticket). Ann and Rick are very kind and attentive hosts: they gave us maps, and advice concerning places and walks of interest. We enjoyed chatting with them. They did everything to ensure we had a good stay and we did have a wonderful stay!
Thank you so much for your kindness and attention!

We are semi retired contemporary art dealers (Swedish & English) and our house also doubles as our gallery these days. Having previously lived and worked in London, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Sydney and Los Angeles, we fairly recently moved to this wonderful area of the UK’s south coast after closing our London art gallery. We are widely travelled and enjoy meeting other travellers and therefore find Airbnb a fun thing to do.
