Location Information:
Once considered an afternoon stop-over on the way to MachuPicchu, more and more visitors are deciding to make Ollantaytambo the primary destination from whence they can experience the Sacred Valley and all it has to offer. In contrast to Cuzco, the small village atmosphere, lower altitude and easy access to incredible hikes has prompted many of our guests to feel more comfortable here and thus extend their stay. Ollantaytambo is called “the last living Inka village” as it has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. It was the town for the Inkan Nobility and High Priests and once you are here it is hard not to notice the magic. So come walk the streets of gigantic jigsaw stonework or try some chichi (Inka Beer- fermented corn) with the indigenous people who are the direct descendents of the Inkas. Let us introduce you to some of these wonderful local people who can guide you into their world, provide cultural connection within traditional communities where tourist seldom venture and lead you on stunning treks through the natural wonder.

You wouldn't stay to another place than Casa de Wow in Ollantaytambo. 3 to 5mn by walk from the city center, you'll find a clean place, with someone available, and looking to provide you a good local experience. Glember which is in charge of the place has been one of the best host we had in Peru! He helped us to find a car spot, carry luggage, made us an amazing breakfast and was just super nice. Glember has a lot of friends in the city and can redirect you to the best spots (restaurants, etc). If you don't have a good spanish, it's really fine because he has a good english. I definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Ollantaytambo! Thanks for everything Glember!

The owner 'Wow' was very passionate about his town, Ollantaytambo, and his interpretation of the surrounding hills was amazing. The property is full of charm adding to the entire beautiful experience. Highly recommended.

The cheapest hostel in beautiful town of Ollantaytambo. Care takers are a very friendly family from US. They offer a delicious breakfast including coffee, tea, fresh eggs, locally made warm bread and home made jams. Great for young and adventurous travelers.

The hospitality is just amazing, and Kaitlin and Winn were so helpful. We followed their recommendations on where to eat in Ollantaytambo and what to see. We just wish we had more time to explore the area. Oh, the beds are very comfortable, the shower has really lovely hot water, the town is worth exploring, and in the side streets off the square you will find hidden treasures. They recommended Apu Veronica for our first meal there on a Sunday night and it was excellent and `very reasonable. Just an out-and-out great experience you will get at Casa de Wow.

Casa De Wow is a hostel not a room in someone's home. This it totally fine but it is good to know before you arrive. We had a sudden change of plans and the host was very generous and offered us 1/2 reimbursement of the night that we could not stay. We did not meet the official host of the hostel but the women that greeted us was very helpful and friendly. The owner of Casa de Wow who is named Wow cornered my husband for 20 minutes one evening in the kitchen and proceeded to share his spiritual views which ended up feeling quite aggressive. If you don't agree with Wow it is best not to engage in conversation unless you feel like being prostilized.

So sorry you felt prostilized by Wow... he is enthusiastic to share the ideology of his incan ancestors and most all visitors are excited to hear it... we are sorry you were not.

Casa de Wow!!! began as the creative venture of Winn and Wow.
Winn comes from Asheville, NC in the United States. She had a three month trip planned for Peru and upon arriving in Ollantaytambo was unable to stick to her return schedule. She found the traditional culture, natural beauty and ease of life in Ollanta irresistible. Winn is into permaculture, progressive consciousness, divine feminine and spiritual adventure. She also just published her first book called, Death is a Miracle!

Wow (aka Roberto Canal Luna) is a native quechua of Ollantaytambo. His family heritage traces back to the days of the Inkas and his family home here retains original Inkan stonework. Wow is an incredible creative artist. He works in many mediums, though fabric art is his first passion. Wow also is a spiritual guide, working with the local plant spirit medicine, whacuma... his tours are amazing, authentic and unique!
