Once considered an afternoon stop-over on the way to MachuPicchu, more and more visitors are deciding to make Ollantaytambo the primary destination from whence they can experience the Sacred Valley and all it has to offer. In contrast to Cuzco, the small village atmosphere, lower altitude and easy access to incredible hikes has prompted many of our guests to feel more comfortable here and thus extend their stay. Ollantaytambo is called “the last living Inka village” as it has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. It was the town for the Inkan Nobility and High Priests and once you are here it is hard not to notice the magic. So come walk the streets of gigantic jigsaw stonework or try some chichi (Inka Beer- fermented corn) with the indigenous people who are the direct descendents of the Inkas. Let us introduce you to some of these wonderful local people who can guide you into their world, provide cultural connection within traditional communities where tourist seldom venture and lead you on stunning treks through the natural wonder.

Stay at Casa de Wow, you will not regret it!
Wow and Steven made us feel very welcome during our stay; it felt like a home away from home. Our room and bathroom were very clean, and a delicious breakfast was served every morning. On the morning we had to leave early to catch the train, Steven made us a breakfast to go, which was greatly appreciated.
If you stay here, which you definitely should, make sure to spend some time with Wow, he has a lot of interesting information about the surrounding mountains and ruins but please note, if you don't speak Spanish you'll need someone to translate.
We look forward to another trip to Peru and hope to stay at Casa de Wow again in the future. We had such an amazing time that we were very sad when we had to leave.
Thank you so much Wow and Steven for all of your help and hospitality during our stay. We had an amazing time getting to know you and hope to see you again very soon!
Worked out great for us! Clean room comfortable bed and VERY QUIET! Everyone was really lovely and it was a nice sense of community!
Casa De Wow was a nice place and a great location close to the main square in Ollantaytambo and a short walk to the train station. The room was fine and they even left me a lunch bag for breakfast as I had an early morning train. The only negative was that when I went to shower that morning there was no hot water !
Casa de Wow is a great authentic place to stay. The outside wall is an original Inca structure--and you can readily view the ruins from the kitchen or upstairs bedrooms. Our host went out of his way for us, even though communication was limited. The senora will serve breakfast, if you like. We are so glad we stayed here and took a few days out to enjoy Ollantaytambo, a wonderful historic village.
Casa de Wow is simply wonderful. I stayed there overnight after my trip to MachuPichu. Next time I visit it will be a longer stay.
The directions provided were great. The room itself was very nice.
Everyone is very friendly at Casa De Wow. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They arranged for taxis and horseback riding. Eggs in the morning provided the energy needed for hiking everyday.
Thought and told Ollantay was too small and nothing to do.
Well, turned out that this was one of the best hotel and town in years. From Cusco to Ollantay, the sacred valley was just amazing. Tuscany crashing into montains. Ollantay was peaceful and relaxing. Great vibe of simple happiness. Many nice hicking tracks and a great temple and ruins to visit. The best stop to and from Macchu Piccu as Aguas Caliente is just a expensive not charming place.
Now, for Wow, Roberto, the manager, and Sonia (cook, maid, etc), were just fantastic hosts. The rooms were basic but were actually better than expected. Old, but clean, Ollantay isn't a 5 stars town anyhow, so expected the basic, still, its very well taken cared off. Roberto actually prepared us a breakfast/lunch the day we left at 6:00 for the train to Maccu Pichu, and he was always available to explain to ust he best hikes around.
Lovely little place, was my second choice on airbnb, but would go back anytime as a first choice !

About the Host, Casa De Wow!!!
Casa de Wow!!! began as the creative venture of Winn and Wow.
Winn comes from Asheville, NC in the United States. She had a three month trip planned for Peru and upon arriving in Ollantaytambo was unable to stick to her return schedule. She found the traditional culture, natural beauty and ease of life in Ollanta irresistible. Winn is into permaculture, progressive consciousness, divine feminine and spiritual adventure.
Wow (aka Roberto Canal Luna) is a native quechua of Ollantaytambo. His family heritage traces back to the days of the Inkas and his family home here retains original Inkan stonework. Wow is an incredible creative artist. He works in many mediums, though fabric art is his first passion.
Winn and Wow now have an awesome team helping them manage the Casa. Mariko and Suenos are our new part-time administrators. Mariko is from Seattle, WA and a recent graduate from art school. Suenos is a local guide and from a small community in the mountains above Ollantaytambo. Sonia is our "mama" of the Casa and in charge of all domestics chores. She is from Ollantaytambo, married with three young adult children. Wider is the main Casa de Wow!!! tour guide and for the past three years has led many of our guests on wonderful local adventures. He is from Ollantaytambo.
All of our team who are from Ollantaytambo speak Quechua.... those of us from the states are learning... slowly ;-)
