Samara Beach and Casa la Chora were the last stop of our Costa Rica family vacation and the minute we arrived we regretted that we weren't going to be staying longer! Elena went above & beyond to ensure our stay was great, from meeting us after the regular registration hours to making up the pull out sofa and staying in contact throughout our stay. The apartment was perfect for our family of 4, we loved having the room to spread out inside and the outdoor space as well. We also really enjoyed the pool, both during the day and after dark. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone!

Note: We stayed in the larger 2 bedroom space, my husband and I in one bedroom and my father-in-law in the other bedroom. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! With restaurants across the street, the beach a short walk away (it's a dirt path with rocks so thicker flip flops are more ideal than the flimsy kind), and the bank and supermarket only blocks away, this place ROCKS! Now, don't think it's going to be super loud. The restaurants nearby are quiet, and while you're a very short walk to the nightlife the sound doesn't carry far. Mama Gui directly across the street was delicious. As for the amenities, four ceiling fans (2 in the living space, one in each bedroom) and AC in the bedrooms allowed us to stay nice and cool through the hot weather--just make sure all the windows are closed (including in the bathrooms) and the place stays luxuriously cold. The wifi was functional, the beds were comfortable, the closets were great, the bathrooms were functional (note that like most of Sámara you don't throw toilet paper in the toilet) and the kitchen had all the basics. We cooked both inside and out on the patio BBQ. The pool was so nice when it got hot, we also enjoyed lounging on the pool chairs and the hammock outside our room. The outdoor kitchen area was perfect for us to host a small BBQ with other people we traveled with to Sámara. You won't receive both pool/beach and shower towels but our hosts were fine with us using the shower towels for the pool and beach. We did end up purchasing some inexpensive beach towels during our stay so you may want to do that or bring your own. Towels are changed daily and they also change out the trash for you. We declined to have our sheets changed as often. The good: -location (really can't stress this enough) -really effective AC + ceiling fans -pool -wifi: we were able to upload a 30 minute long video to YouTube over a few hours so it was comparable to cheap wifi in the US. My father-in-law had to get work done on his laptop and never had a problem. We had at least 5 devices connected to the wifi and sometimes it was slow but it worked. -outdoor cooking area: covered which was perfect since we got some rain during our BBQ -tv with HBO in the living room The bad: -can't flush toilet paper, but again, this was true nearly everywhere we went in Sámara -The futon in the living room didn't seem like it would be very comfortable to sleep on, we didn't need it but we did lounge on it late into the night and that was fine but if I'd slept on it the 6 nights we stayed I might've had a problem. -The backyard will be potentially shared with other guests staying in the smaller one bedroom apartments. We had a shared guest our first night...

We had a great week in Samara and Casa la Chora was a big part of that. Elena and Daniela were pleasures - very kind and informative. They helped us arrange an amazing horseback riding trip with Rolando. Highly recommend! The apartment had everything we needed. I spent many hours happily lounging in the hammock and floating in the pool. The beach is only a few minute walk away, a grocery store 1 minute away, and in fact you can safely walk just about anywhere you need to within a few minutes. I highly recommend Casa La Chora and Samara for a Costa Rica beach vacation. This town is so much better than the touristy resort areas in the northern part of Guanacaste which have no soul comparatively!

We had a great stay. The location was awesome. We were opposite a wonderful Italian restaurant that had cool live music and street performers that stopped by which my kids loved. It's next door to a bakery which has yummy baked goods. It's a short walk from the beach. We loved Samara. Very easy relaxed place.

Super nice folks. I was feeling quite ill the day we arrived and they accommodated us with an early check-in.

This was our second trip to Samara so we knew about where we wanted to stay - close enough to walk easily to the beach, restaurants, and shops, but far enough from the bar noise. Casa La Chora was PERFECT. The two-bedroom apartment was just right for our family of five. The beds are true king-size and very comfortable - if you like FIRM, which we do. Each bedroom's full bath was luxury. The place was clean, well-maintained, and simply lovely. WiFi was quite good, too. Elena is very available for any questions and often offered opportunities like bread and pastries from a German bakery, or finding fresh fish, or giving us what we needed in the kitchen to make preparing our own meals easy. Two women who work for her, Yendri and Daniele are sweet, polite, and super honest and do a great job on laundry for a reasonable price. We could have brought fewer clothes. When we travel to Samara we bring a few things along that help - washcloths if you're used to using them. They don't seem to exist in Costa Rica. Extra clothes pins for the outdoor lines. Zip lock bags for leftovers, collected shells, etc. We found out the hard way that OTC pain meds are extremely expensive (sold by the tab!) and one of us needed Ibuprofen. Fortunately we had a guest coming from the States who was able to bring us a bottle. I can't think of anything else. Oh, one feels complete safe in this place. Elena is an excellent host.

Loved staying at Elena's place. The location was absolutely perfect, a short walk to all of the restaurants, bars and the beach! Elena was easy to communicate with, and we enjoyed spending some of our time by the nice pool and hammock right outside of our door. There was AC and a cleaning lady that came each afternoon. The space was perfect with two rooms and separate bathrooms, and a well equipped kitchen. I would definitely stay here again if I came to Samara!
