About this listing
500 sq. foot studio with private entrance, kitchenette, & bathroom with shower. Very quiet, overlooking the South Hills of Eugene. Sleeps up to three. Peaceful street - this is a wonderful space to hold a personal retreat or decompress after a busy day!
Comfortable, private 500 square foot room with a separate entrance and bathroom with shower. Large windows on 3 of 4 sides. Bright, clean, oak floors, internet access, & plenty of parking (street and driveway). Complete with a nice view of the South Hills! Located on a very quiet street in the popular and accessible Friendly Street neighborhood.
Fridge, electric tea pot, and convection toaster oven available for use.
(Please note the toaster is *not* a microwave, which may seem obvious to some but not everyone as on more than one occasion paper towels have been toasted in the toaster!)
During the week a portion of the room is used as a massage studio so multi-night reservations are mainly accepted for Friday eve through Monday morning. One night reservations are accepted during the work week with the check-in time moved from 3:00 to 7:00 ( with some exceptions). This may cause some confusion since the studio is available weekdays but on different terms than weekends.
As for beds, there are a queen and full-sized bed. The couch, though not a pull-out, is also quite comfortable.
Located in a safe and quiet neighborhood just minutes to downtown Eugene (1.7 miles to City Center, 30 minutes walk) and only one mile or less to scores of highly rated restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, and natural food stores! There is a collection of menus in the room and I am happy to make recommendations for places to eat!
Also close to hiking trails (7 minute drive to the closest trailhead), playgrounds, parks, bark running trails, track, bike paths, farmers' markets, banks, and more.
There is the option of in-house therapeutic massage from the hostess, a licensed massage therapist since 2002. Making an appointment ahead of time will ensure a spot on the schedule, though it is fine wait until you are here.
*PLEASE NOTE: this room is on a second story; there are 9 stairs to climb.
Interaction with guests
Our schedules will of course determine the amount of time we have to chat, but I am always happy to talk about the area and/or what you've been up to in your travels! If you would like suggestions for nearby restaurants, amenities, etc, I am more than happy to make recommendations! I am ALWAYS available to help with any questions you may have, and there is somebody who can act as a back-up in case there is a problem when I'm not around.
The room has a private entrance, so it is possible to also have complete privacy if you would like a quiet retreat.
Check-in time is after 3:00, however, I can be flexible in some instances. It is my preference to greet you upon arrival therefore communication regarding your arrival time is appreciated!
If you need to wash your clothes it's $3/load and I will do it for you. The machine gets stuck on certain settings so it's safer this way.
The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The street is not a through-way to nearby well-traveled streets, thereby helping it to remain free of heavy vehicle traffic. There is a beautiful community garden 1/2 block down from the house with neighborhood work-parties during summer weekends. There are numerous playgrounds within walking distance (4 within 10 minutes) as well as a disc-golf course, bark-mulch trails, and hiking within a 10 minute drive. The University of Oregon is just a few miles away and almost a straight-shot from the house!
Close to bus stops, walking downtown takes 20 - 30 minutes. Very convenient by bicycle and car.
Transport to & from the Eugene Airport: The airport has a service called “Omni Shuttle” which you can schedule ahead of time. They have a kiosk by the baggage claim as well. There are also a host of taxis waiting outside the airport at all times. The cost for both of these options is around the same (approximately $20 - $30).
Other things to note
I appreciate if you correctly note the number of people staying in the room when you book the room so we won't need to address the issue after check-in. If the number of guests should change after you book please let me know. Thank you.
The street signs are chronically missing around here so if you have a device that will help you find your way here you'll have no problem. Otherwise, please call or text if you're having trouble finding it!
Parking: It's fine to park in the driveway if it's empty. Otherwise, please park in front of the house or across the street.
Come to the side door up the driveway when you arrive! The key is in a lockbox hanging on the doorknob if I'm not home when you arrive.
*Refrain from using scent/perfumes in the air or on your body while staying here (e.g. perfumes, colognes, hairspray) out of consideration for future guests and to maintain the neutrality of the space.*
Refrain from smoking inside the house or within 20 feet of any doors or windows.
Remove shoes in the foyer if they are muddy or wet. In general, I prefer that shoes be taken off in the room so if you're able to bring slippers or thick socks it's much appreciated!
Any food scraps, tea bags, and coffee grounds (including the filter) may be tossed into the compost bucket on the red cart.
Remember to lock the outside doors when you leave, as well as when you are upstairs in the room.
Please refrain from bringing your pets to stay here, or any additional guests who aren't listed on the reservation.
Return your key(s) before you leave (you may leave them on the washing machine). Please lock the handle of the outside door behind you when you leave for the final time.
Please do not leave the AC or heat on high if you are out of the room for more than an hour. It does not take long to return it to the temperature you desire! If you have questions about how to operate the heat pump please don't hesitate to ask me.
If you need to do laundry please check with me first. There is a fee of $3.00/load and I prefer to do the laundry for you. There is no need to bring detergent.
Be mindful when adjusting the shades up and down - their vintage quality could invite mishap!
I like to practice direct communication. I hope you will also feel comfortable communicating directly with me about anything that is affecting your experience at my guest house!
And please have fun, enjoy yourself, make yourself comfortable! Please don't hesitate to call on me with any questions about the room or for directions around Eugene. Need suggestions for places to eat, be entertained, or get exercise? Just ask me, I'm always happy to help!
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
