Want to discover the Mayan jungle? This is the place.
Thanks for your interest in my solar-powered Suite in the Mayan Riviera. I look forward to sharing this retreat with you.
Located in the amazing Ruta de los Cenotes (Sinkholes rout) next to an Eco-hotel, the house is an experience of relaxation and adventure. The Chi'ik JungleRefuge is an ecological cabin built to high specifications of respect for the environment. It was finished in summer 2010.
Powered by solar panels, it was made having in mind the least long term environmental impact. It was built on stilts so it wouldn’t obstruct the natural filtration of water, and not a single tree was brought down for its construction. It is harmoniously inserted in its surroundings.
Best of all, it is located within reachable distance from points of interest in the Yucatán Península, like Valladolid, Ec-Balam, the island of Holbox, and even Chichen Itzá, in addition to being a 20 minute drive to the beach of Puerto Morelos, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Riviera, that hosts the second largest coral reef in the world.
It has 1 bedroom with two closets, a desk and a double bed, 1 bathroom with toilet, sink and walk in shower. A living area w/ a sofa-bed for two, kitchen with refrigerator, stove, pans, and tea kettle. A deck with an outdoor dining area and a roof terrace from where to enjoy the forest that surrounds the place.
Bed linen, blankets, towels and soap are provided. There is no TV and no internet connection.
Ideal for individuals, couples or a small family that like to be in touch with nature and seek quiet and tranquility. If you want privacy the Chi'ik JungleRefuge is the house for you.
Check-in and check-out times can be flexible.
Breakfast, massages and temazcal for an additional fee.
Overall an enjoyable stay. On a positive note, the property was VERY secluded, private and set within lush green jungle. It should be made clear that the pool and temazcal facilites indicated in the images are not part of the property itself, but shared with the adjoining eco hotel and are a decent walk from the home. The proprietors of this hotel are also the managers of the property on the owner's behalf. They were very helpful and attentive.
On a negative note, the hot water was very unreliable. Also the linen servicing was not adequate: due to the humidity of the dwelling sheets and towels really need to be replaced every day, not every 3/4 days. Guests should be warned that things can get quite humid here but we had no issues with insects etc, and fans were available from the property managers.
GREAT PLACE, !!
WE WENT FOR VACATION , WANTED SOMETHING NOT TOO CROWD, AWAY FROM CIVILIZATION < PEACEFUL PLACE< NATURE< ECO FRIENDLY AMAZING VIEWS < LOTS OF GREEN !! FRIENDLY PEOPLE !! WE CAN SAY WE ENJOYED OUR STAY !
El perfecto remanso de paz, donde la luz de las estrellas y el silencio de la jungla son los perfectos compañeros. Domenico se deshace en atenciones para con sus huespedes, haciendo aún más placentera la estancia si cabe.
We had a very nice time in the jungle. We shared the space between 3 people. It was fine, but not so intimate (because it's an open space). Probably better for a couple or someone alone. It is beautiful and clean, and Domenico provides a very goof service. It is very well located, not so far from the airport but it has a totaly different atmsophere than Playa del Carmen or Cancun. It is very easy to visit cenotes (there are dozens around there!) and to go on daytrips to many places (we went to Holbox and loved it!). They owners and caretakers of the hotel next door are very friendly and interesting people too.
I suggest to have a car while you're at the Jungle suite to make the most out if your stay. So as long as you are not afraid of insects and humidity, you'll have a great time in the jungle!
