About this listing
Our cool and comfortable studio apartment with cottage charm has a truly relaxed feeling! It comfortably fits two and is centrally located between hot beaches and cool mountain hikes. You're just miles from popular downtown Kona, beautiful beaches, glorious food & all your shopping needs.
We are only about five miles from town on the side of the mountain at a cool elevation. Our guests tell us they enjoy the cooler elevation after a long day exploring the beach or shopping in the heat of town.
Interaction with Guests
One of our greatest joys is meeting new people & discovering new cultures. We own a successful photography business which means lots of opportunities to see the beauty of our island & offer you a guided experience when desired. The more we know about your interests the better we can serve you.
As a bonus, our guest will receive a discount on a beach portrait session or a photo day.
We love our Hawaiian lush neighborhood. Our street has been nicknamed 'Avocado Ave.' because there are so many lush trees and often there is plenty to pick up as you walk.
Just up the street is: one of our favorite hikes on Hao Street, Kona Mountain Thunder for coffee, 'A Walk in the Clouds' and much more to explore.
Other Things to Note
We will provide coffee & tea. Also, we have avocado, lemon, banana & allspice trees that we offer our guest when in season.
We have high expectations on ourselves for a clean and comfortable place for you to enjoy. Please help us to keep it that way with no smoking on the property.
This has been one of our most amazing travel experience, both to the Island and Naomi's lovely Studio. Not only the absolute comfortness and cleaness of the place, the Brown family were truly wonderful. Bob and Naomi were so nice, friendly and helpful, took care of everything to help us just in time. They prepared local fruit, coffee and many handy things, and was kind enough to share us wash powder immediately after knowing our embarrassed luggage-delay situation. And the 'Greeting ceremony' was brilliant, thank you Kelvin!!
I will definitely highly recommend this place for couples staying in the Big Island. You will feel like home far away. After all, enjoy the nature and incredible cozy experience at same time would be kind of a dream-come-true, wouldn't it? ;D
We stayed at Naomi and Bob's place for 3 nights - they are wonderful hosts!! Upon our arrival they provided us with shell leis, as well as ensuring we were stocked up with tea (as we were coming from England!) as well as beers in the refrigerator. As we mentioned that we were planning to visit the summit of Mauna Kea, Naomi mentioned it gets quite cold at the top so she left out warm blankets and hats for us which was very thoughtful.
The property backs on to their home, and it is a very cosy studio, tastefully decorated with pretty much everything you will need (including parasol, chairs, snorkelling gear etc.) The bed is very comfortable, and it has a really nice shower! It is located near many beaches and there are plenty of attractions nearby. Additionally, anyone with Apple products can stream movies or pictures etc. to the TV as they have an Apple TV so it is really handy to watch films after a long day trip.
All in all it is a definitely a good place to stay if you want to visit Big Island - we would come back again!
This place was incredibly well thought out!! They had everything we needed to make the trip perfect. Naomi was very accommodating, she met us with shell leis and checked in on us a couple times to make sure our stay was going well. We couldn't have asked for anything better.
It was our second time at Naomi's apartment and it was wonderful again.we loved to stay there.naomi and bob invited us for bbq and gave us a new camera cuz our got wet by a wave.we r so thankful.highly recommended in every way!!!!
Naomi and Bob were just great. There were 'welcome gifts' there and they met us at the front door with leis. They made every attempt to accommodate any special requests we had. The place looks exactly like it does in the picture, it is decorated so cute and stocked really well with kitchen items. We spent so little time there, but it was beautiful inside and out. (The only comment I would add is that if you are a large person, the bed and shower may be too small for you), but my husband and I had a great time on the big island of Hawaii and in Naomi and Bob's charming little Ohana. It is located in the most gorgeous mountain area. Make sure to ask Naomi about the hiking trail near Mountain Thunder coffee plantation. You won't believe how incredibly beautiful that trail is. And before I forget...the highlight of our trip was meeting young Calvin, Naomi and Bob's 10 year old son...he was sheer delight!
Naomi and Bob are exceptional host! They greeted us with shell leis upon arrival. A ripe pineapple, beers and snacks were waiting for us in our room. Naomi checked on us during our stay and bid us goodbye with delicious chocolates. The room is beautifully decorated. The kitchen well stocked. The bedroom has a comfortable bed, flat screen TV, the washer and dryer room has lots of space to stow away your luggage. The outdoor patio is very relaxing and comfortable. The neighbourhood is quiet. The studio is 10-15 mins drive from Kona attractions. This was our first Airbnb rental and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Naomi and Bob were perfect host and we would definitely stay at your studio when we return to Big Island!
This was my first airbnb experience and I can only hope in the future they are all just as amazing !! This charming studio had everything and more . It not only made my trip extremely comfortable but also made me feel right at home . You can tell Naomi & Bob take pride in this little slice of heaven on the big island and have paid attention to every detail to make this studio an outstanding experience . Greeted with a smile , a may I help you with your luggage and a tasty pineapple were all a sweet added bonus . Mahalo for eveything !!
About the Host, Naomi
Aloha! I have been in Hawaii for over 14 years and I live here with my husband, Bob, who is a professional photographer and our youngest son, Calvin. I grew up helping my parents to manage rentals and I have owned a rental in Virginia Beach for over ten years and our current rental for over 9 years. I love great food, hiking, diving, traveling and meeting new people. I have been blessed by the guests that have traveled from many countries and the joy of sharing my love for Big Island Hawaii.
