Eric's place is terrific! We are a family of 3, so the set-up was perfect: 2 bathrooms (1 connected to a bedroom, the other separate and near the entrance door, so it was available to us and to our visitors), 2 big bedrooms, and a large kitchen and living/dining room area. (We did not use the sofa pull-out, but suspect that it is not too comfy, since the couch does sag in the middle.) Our routine was to gather for breakfast before we set out on our adventures - one of our kids lives down the street and the other was with us - and there was plenty of room to cook and eat together. All the reviews that mention proximity to restaurants, grocery store (you need a car to get there, but it is close by), and the bus to JH resort or Snow King are correct...you can get to the main destinations easily from Eric's place. We will happily stay there again (and hope we have the opportunity!). One suggestion about getting a key to the unit: it was hard to reach Eric as we got closer to our departure date. While he did respond, there was a delay of a couple of days. I was concerned about getting in to his place, since we had received no instructions on where we would find the key. Finally, I called Jackson Pines Resort. They have limited office hours, so I left a message and they did call me back. We arrived when the office was closed, but the key was in the lock box outside the office as promised. Eric did respond with the same info, but by then I had already connected with the Jackson Pines folks. BTW: be sure to indicate that you are staying at the Jackson Pines location (vs the Town Center location - they have 2 properties). Also, I did clarify that I was an Airbnd guest staying in Eric Byrd's unit. At the time I confirmed everything with the office I also indicated our preference for a 2nd floor unit - I had mentioned this to Eric from the beginning, but I am not sure to what extent he can control that - and that is what we got. No noise from the neighbors and there was no street noise whatsoever. Another BTW: Bin 22 is a fabulous small-plate restaurant diagonally across the street and their wine/beer area (you can buy and bring to your table) is about as complete as one could wish for. Staff is terrific and it is a satisfying way to end a long day of traveling or just to relax. Overall, an grade of A. Thanks, Eric!
Eric communicated very well and was helpful. The suite is somewhat dated but still comfortable and a great location. The main issue we had was with the heat (in-floor heating) which seemed impossible to control. It was set at 65 when we got there and so we turned it up to 68 (recommended maximum). We were told that it takes a while to heat up so we waited. The next day it was way too warm and we turned it back down to 65, again it seemed to take forever so the next day we turned it down to 60 and were still super warm so we just started to leave the windows open. The only other issue we had was the property was somehow never informed about our stay and so when we got into town and called they didn't have our reservation from Eric which turned into a little less than smooth check-in. There was no one planning to use the condo after us so Eric was nice and offered an extra night for free which we weren't able to take advantage of.
Again, the location of this apartment was the best part, we walked everywhere in Jackson and really enjoyed the convenience. We would probably stay again if we visit Jackson.
Perfect for a ski vacation - couldn't be closer to great bars/restaurants and the bus to Teton village. Clean and spacious.
However, the check-in process was strange as they had the wrong arrival/departure dates and everything was in Erik's name (and the office referred to me as Erik's friend which seemed sketchy). Erik was great with communication until just before I arrived - I had asked for some details about checking in early since I was arriving early and still haven't received a response.
The good - The location was great. It was close to everything in the town of Jackson. The bus system worked really well. It was free anywhere in town and only $3 to get to Jackson Hole Ski Resort.
The bad - The resort accommodations were not very good compared to our other airbnb experiences. Eric doesn't live in town, so I guess we were just supposed to know to work with the resort office to gain access to the room. This wasn't clearly explained to us by Eric. The resort office is closed four days a week, including the day we checked-in. The check-in instructions were not very clear. They said to use the phone out front to reach the office if it was closed. There was no phone. The instructions should have read - If no one is at the resort office, then call the number listed on the front door of the office to get the lock-box access code for your room key. We weren't able to reach Eric for over an hour, so we had to wait at a restaurant down the street with our luggage, snowboards/luggage/laptops/etc, for over an hour trying to figure out how to get in. Not a good first impression.
It was very important that we had internet access because my boyfriend and I both had to check work emails on the trip. We emailed Eric twice with a few questions, including the one about the internet, but he didn't confirm email access in his email reply.
One of the key reasons that we booked this spot was to use the hot tub after a long day on the slopes. Unfortunately, the hot tub was broke two of the four days on our trip.
Overall, the place itself was pretty good, but Eric didn't help us out much after we reserved the spot. The check-in instructions on airbnb didn't match reality, so make sure to get all your questions answered before you reserve. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this didn't live up to our typically awesome airbnb experiences.
