Featured in USA Today and WRAL and one block from downtown & the seminary, this is a listing for a private room in the historic Stroud house. We have an ideal AirBnB situation with separate guest entrance. Come & go at your leisure.

Ours is the perfect overnighting location for weddings at Binkley Chapel, classes at SEBTS, events & functions at the community house, and for enjoying downtown's street fairs, shopping, pubs and eating establishments.

Built in the early 1940s by my great-grandfather, the Rev I.T. Stroud, our guest suite has some quaint and quirky features you won't find in modern homes. Preacher Stroud put a sink in each bedroom so his guests and Wake Forest College student boarders could wash up privately before meals.

Like tongue-and-groove? Good, because we have plenty of it, including the ceilings. Eat your heart out, Joanna Gaines!

The suite has a very convenient private entrance into the Gypsy Fortunet Teller room with bistro seating, separate from the rest of the house so you may come and go without having to walk through a common area. You will receive a keypad combination a day before your scheduled check-in. You may have as much or as little interaction with us, your hosts, as you like. We will always respect your needs for privacy. The Gypsy Fortune Teller room has bistro seating so you can dine in if you desire.

The Gypsy Fortune Teller room is connected to the main bedroom which features a queen-sized bed and private WC with in-bowl bidet. The Black Cat Cafe (aka the walk-in closet) contains a microwave, minifridge, and Keurig machine for your convenience. We try to keep a small variety of k-cups available, but if you have a favorite please feel free to bring your own.

Older homes have smaller bathrooms, and ours is no different. Common area shower facilities are available at the end of the hallway. We have great pressure and our rainfall shower head is very luxurious. The handwashing sink in the hall bathroom utilizes clean water to fill the toilet tank, conserving both space and natural resources at the same time.

And... it's haunted.

Where you’ll be

Wake Forest, North Carolina, United States

The old Wake Forest College campus facilities are a block north, still beautiful and maintained by Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; a perfect place for an evening stroll. Further north on Main Street, you will be surrounded by architecture of the Queen Anne, Classic / Greek Revival, and Victorian eras.

White Street is also a block away, with plenty of antiquing and eating establishments, and several places for adult beverages should you so choose.

Since moving back to Wake Forest full-time in 1999, I have always enjoyed the company of third parties in my home. AirBnB seemed like a natural extension of that hospitality as the children grew older, and the nest is beginning to empty.

Rebecca and I are a married couple in our early 50s with eclectic tastes, looking forward to completing the second half of our lives together. I'm a veteran of the Gulf War and the high school classroom, a bulk food co-op manager. Rebecca also works from home, helping manage the store and keeping your AirBnB spotless.

We look forward to meeting you!
