Come to visit us in beautiful Kerry! We are only 5 minutes from Cahersiveen, ideally located on the Ring of Kerry, the Skellig Ring and the brand-new Wild Atlantic Way long-distance driving route.
Welcome to our little piece of heaven!
Deceptively small and cute from the outside, our house is roomy and airy inside with an open plan layout. Many say it has a Spanish feel to it. It is tastefully decorated with a mix of Irish, German, French and Italian bits and pieces. They say a picture paints a thousand words, so please browse through the photos to get a feel for our place:)
This is the larger of our two rooms (about 18 m²). It has a comfortable double bed and is ideal for a couple. The sofa bed can accommodate a third person. A hairdryer and bathrobes are provided in the room. Please check our other listing for the second room ('Cute Country Cottage Cosy Room', https://www.airbnb.ie/rooms/2152134).
Our guests have access to:
- a guest bathroom on the same level (please note that this bathroom may be shared with other guests in our second room)
- shared spaces: living room and conservatory
- garden and outdoor furniture
Ina serves her fabulous breakfast in the conservatory. It consists of tea and coffee, cereals, toast and bread, a selection of cheeses, cold meats, jam, marmalade, yoghurt, fruits and other goodies - more than enough to get you going for the day ahead! She will also cook eggs for you if you like.
Interaction with Guests
At least one of us will be here during your stay, and depending on work schedules, we are both present most of the time.
Ina is an Irish Dancing teacher and would be happy to give you an introduction to Irish Dancing in her studio, the "Rince Room". This is great fun - check the picture in the gallery!
We also have a piano and a guitar and we would love to hear you play and sing.
Marcus will be delighted to show you around the grounds, our little woodland and his garden. He can also advise you on hiking in the McGillicuddy reeks, trips to the Skelligs and other highlights in the area. And if you are a Geocacher, Marcus is the man to talk to as he has hidden a good number in Southwest Kerry.
This is a great area, maybe less well-known as our neighbour Dingle, but we absolutely love it here. Sometimes, on a sunny day, we ask ourselves why we would want to go on holidays anywhere else when we have everything on our doorstep. On rainy days, we mostly change our minds again ;)
The new 2400 km long coastal driving route, The Wild Atlantic Way, passes very close to us. We are also on the famous Ring of Kerry (a drive around the Iveragh Peninsula).
We are located within the newly established Kerry International Dark-Sky Reserve with ideal conditions for skywatching and stargazing. The reserve has Gold-Tier status: this is only the 3rd of its kind globally and the first in the northern hemisphere.
We are surrounded by miles and miles of rugged coastline, fantastic beaches of all sizes, islands and fabulous mountain scenery. The photos will give you a little taste.
One of the highlights are the Skellig Rocks with the early Christian monastic settlement on one island and one of the largest Gannet colonies on the other. Trips can be arranged from the pretty village of Portmagee, just a very short drive away.
There are a number of recently established looped walks available in the area in addition to the long-distance Kerry Way walking route. Please ask us for details.
Derrynane House and National Park is about half an hour drive from here while Killarney National Park is just over 1 hour.
We also highly recommend an excursion into the interior of the Iveragh peninsula with its wild rivers, lakes and remote moors and mountains, including the McGillicuddy Reeks (Ireland's highest mountains). Someone commented and said this area looks like the "Highlands of Peru"; in fact is is signposted as Glencar, the "Highlands of Kerry".
Closer to home you'll find enchanting Valentia Island, the seaside villages of Portmagee, Ballinskelligs and Waterville, a magical stretch of coastline known as "The Glen", and not to forget ancient ringforts and castles near Cahersiveen, our busy local town.
Our house is not accessible by public transport. The nearest bus stop is in Cahersiveen and we would be delighted to meet you there. However, it would probably be best if you had your own transport to be able to explore the area. Bicycles can be rented locally.
Kerry Airport is 1 hour drive away while Cork and Shannon are about 2.5 hours each.
Other Things to Note
Please note that children come here for dancing lessons from September to April, Monday to Thursday in the afternoon and early evening. During these times it can get quite noisy.
We ask that you don't smoke inside and don't bring any pets.
Please take off your outdoor shoes when going upstairs. Slippers are provided.
Inas and Marcus house is really sweet and so are they. When I visited Marcus wasn't at home, but Ina welcomed me really warm hearted and I had a good time with her and her other two guest. When I arrived her dancing class showed me some dancing wich was really cool. The breakfast was delicious and Ina was looking after us that everybody has enough and what we like. The bed was one of the comfortablest ones I had during my trip round Ireland and the view from the bedroom is wonderful.
I stayed one night with my parents at Ina and Marcus' lovely house.
It's located in a very quiet area with a stunning view on Valentia Island.
We received a warm welcome from Ina when we arrived and she made us feel comfortable instantly (Marcus was working and arrived later). She loves people and that can be seen at the first conversation!
The house is very clean and comfy.
In the morning Ina and Marcus prepared the most gigantic and delicious breakfast I ever had in Ireland (with the view on Valentia Island!). They put a lot of effort in making our stay a memorable experience and that's definitely a success!
I would recommend staying with Ina and Marcus to anyone who visits the wonderful land of Kerry!
Fabulous experience. Great attention to detail. Clean, comfortable, most modern accommodation we had while in Ireland. Fantastic wifi and superb breakfast. Royal treatment very much appreciated.
English: Everything by Ina and Marcus is perfect, you would not get it better. Their hospitality is as great as it could be. We recommend everyone to go there for vacation. You could not get it nicer in Ireland and we will always have the time there very memorable. Thanks a lot for this great vacation. (Sorry when I have made some mistakes, my english is not so good.)
We already miss Ina! She's just wonderful. We had great communication from the start thanks to Marcus who promptly replied to our reservation request and helped arrange a trip to the Skelligs.
The location is really nice with a lovely view and easy to find: Marcus had put up clear signs to help us find the house from the road, very convenient!
When we arrived we were met with a warm reception (and a drop of whisky for Bart) everything was top notch. Ina and Marcus really make you feel at home! We had great conversations with them (and the other guests). Ina further helped us with so many things. The breakfasts were also amazing!
The room was spacious and comfortable, with a desk and also a little vanity table. We didn't lack for anything and there were folders, maps, walking guides...etc, all the information you could wish for. And there was chocolate, which we loved of course.
One of the best places we've ever stayed!
Ina & Marcus were wonderfully welcoming hosts. They made us feel right at home and comfortable in their home environment, they provided us with endless information of events and activities taking place in the surrounding areas. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend a stay in this cute country cottage. Thank you for the great stay Chris Paddy & Orla.
Wow - absolutely wow.
During our 18 days trip to Ireland we've stayed with Ina and Marcus for 4 nights. And it has been perfect in every little aspect:
The communication upfront in order to find the house, Marcus even put little airbnb-signs on the street to easily take the right turn.
A few days before arriving, Marcus asked about our plans to visit the Skellig Michael - and offered to book/reserve one of the limited spaces on the boats. Otherwise we would not have been able to have that amazing experience.
We instantly felt like we were being integrated into the family. At any time, Ina did her best to make the stay as comfortable as possible. We had long conversations, once even until after 3 AM and neither could nor wanted to stop.
Ina's breakfast is amazing. We would suggest you let yourself get surprised. Alternatively you may talk to Ina about your preferences.
We could go on and on - maybe you should try and see for yourself :)
You'll definitely enjoy the stay.

We are an Irish/German couple living in Kerry, Ireland. We think this is a very good combination:)
Ina was born and grew up here while Marcus is originally from East Germany and has been living in Ireland since 1993.
Ina is an Irish Dancing teacher and also loves painting. She likes to meet people and to stay connected and that's one of the reasons we are getting into this airbnb thing.
Marcus is an IT specialist and works mainly in Cork but also part-time from home. As if he doesn't get enough of computers during work hours, he also designs and maintains a couple of websites. In his spare time he is into Geocaching, photography and gardening (plenty scope for that around our house!)
We like to travel independently, make our own plans and find our own way. Usually we find it is the people we meet, along with the beauty of our destination, that make any holiday really special.
We discovered airbnb during our holidays in Sardinia in 2013. In fact, Italy is our favourite travel destination with France and Germany following not far behind. We like to bring our own car so that we can visit different wine regions and take some bottles home with us.
We have stayed with and want to especially recommend these airbnb hosts:

France, Clisson (near Nantes):
Italy, Sardinia, Santa Maria Navarrese:
