Neighborhood highlights

Less than 5min walk:

At the bottom of the building, at the intersection, is a delicious bakery to enhance your breakfasts. If you want to eat fast, a Mac Donald's is in front of the building at the exit of the metro and a Subway at the bottom of the building. You will also find an Italian grocery store as well as a market gardener, a butcher and another bakery rue erard.
For your shopping, you will find a Monoprix, a Carrefour, a Picard and a pharmacy. Bars and restaurants are also available to you along the adjacent streets. In summary, you will find the essentials less than 5min walk from the apartment.

Less than 10min walk:

You will be able to reach the Gare de Lyon. This station dates from 1900, one of the largest in Paris serves the great south east and south of France and neighboring countries such as Switzerland and Italy and the East of Spain. The Gare de Lyon is worth a visit with its large Clock Tower and its painted frescoes. In addition, the esplanade in front of the station was advantageously renovated with pedestrian space and flower beds very successful.

The street Faubourg Saint Antoine, very popular, is an old street with a majority of workers who housed many carpentry workshops and furniture manufacturing and sales stores. From the street you can see small courtyards open to old architecture, which contain small jewels to see and discover, including numbers 71, 81, 83, 89, 95 and 133. The facades of the buildings in the street are mostly simple "à la Parisienne" with smooth facade and rectangular windows without balcony.

Less than 15min walk:

You will find the green promenade on the Arts viaduct called "Coulée Verte" which leaves near the Place de la Bastille and extends to the ring road, passing by the Garden of Reuilly and Vivaldi alley. It takes the route of an old railway line, the result of a successful alliance between wild vegetation, which invaded the edge of the railway line and a more modern landscaping. The walk of 6.5 ha allows to travel the 12th district of Paris in all its length, protected from all car traffic.

You will also find the Place de la Nation and the Avenue du Trône which constitute a place of walks and leisures during the famous "Fair of the Throne" from the end of March until the end of May. This site is extended to the East by the wide Cours de Vincennes to the Gate of the same name. There are very lively temporary markets every week. Back alleys make it easy to walk around.

In addition, you can access the Place de la Bastille which is a special place at the edge of the 4th, 11th and 12th district. It is very lively especially in the evening with the many restaurants and bars of the district and the Opéra dit Bastille built under Mitterrand in 1989.

Finally a very busy and well supplied market is located Place d'Aligre which is near the Rue de Cotte which connects Rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine and Rue de Charenton.
It is worth a look for architecture lovers, with its frame hull returned boat. Open everyday except on Monday. You will find the best deals especially on Sunday midday.

A little more far (5 stations) is the Bois de Vincennes and the recently renovated Zoo.
