The Space

The apartment is in the very heart of Rome, in an ex monastery completely renewed, an historic building protected by Italian Ministry of Culture, in a quiet street of charming and lively Trastevere.
It is five minutes walking from Tiberina Island, Porta Portese Market, Gianicolo, Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, Via Giulia, Piazza Farnese and a little more from San Peter and the Vatican Museums, Campidoglio, Capitolini Museums, Coliseum, Imperial Forums, Bocca della Verità...
This is a completely restored 84 sq m apartment. It is a basement with two windows composed by a big living room with sofa, double sofa bed and dining corner, a modern completely equipped kitchen, double bedroom on the loft, and bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. It is furnished with air conditioner, microwave oven, internet WIFI H24 connection, satellite TV, video intercom.
The terracotta pavement, high vaulted brick ceiling, modern and excellent quality furniture complete this extremely elegant apartment.

The Neighborhood

The Trastevere area in the historical center of Rome, consists of a maze of narrow streets that is still, despite the evident gentrification, one of the city's most authentically Roman neighbourhoods. Literally translated, Trastevere means "across the Tiber", which, of course describes its proximity to the historical centre, just southwest on the other side of the river, and just a ten minute walk away. This area includes two neighbourhoods: Trastevere and Monteverde. The first one is a modern and residential area in which you can find green open spaces (such as the huge and beautiful Villa Doria Pamphili, one of the biggest park in Rome), trading areas and many different shops. Trastevere is one of the oldest and typical neighbourhood of the city. The narrow paved streets and allays are plenty of cinemas, cafés and restaurants with tables scattered in the pavement, mostly at Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere and in Viale Trastevere. The churches of Santa Cecilia and San Francesco a Ripa are very remarkable.

  • Great place with an ideal location in Trastevere - surrounded by plenty of great restaurants and squares, and just a short walk to the river.
Marzia was very accomodating and even provided us with a map and a list of good places to eat - would defintely recommend it as a place to stay to enjoy a different side of Rome.

  • Cannot say enough about this fabulous place – but first let me start with the host – Marzia – who is absolutely lovely, responding immediately to the slightest request (including an e-mail sent at 11:00pm, for taxi pick up the next day). Her recommendations are spot on, including the great taxi company that assisted with the logistics of getting around during our five day stay (including airport transfers). Rest assured, you’re in safe hands here – on every account.

The apartment has ample space and the ceiling brickwork is as stunning as the photos suggest – it felt luxurious, a private retreat amidst the bustle of a stunning city. We were there when it was scorchingly hot, and it was a cool (in both senses of the word) refuge at the end of a long day. The neighbourhood is vibrant – restaurants, bars, and the wonderful Piazza Santa Maria are steps away – a brilliant location.

    Recommended unreservedly.

  • The apartment is beautiful, clean and functional, is very spacious for 2 people and has all the amenities you need for a stay. The neighborhood Trastevere is perfect for night life and has very good restaurants within walking distance, we felt really safe walking around. There's a bus station and tranvia nearby (5 min walking) During our stay the air conditioning wasn't working however it didn't matter because the apartment is in the basement and was very cool during day and night. Even if the apartment is in the basement is very well lit and nice. The kitchen was fully equipped for our needs.
Tip: We recommend renting a scooter to move around Rome.

  • Good spacious apartment. The location is excellent in a nice quiet street in the less touristy area of Trastevere. It makes for a good retreat after a long day of exploring romes many attractions.

Communication with Marzia was prompt and easy.

  • This is a gorgeous apartment in the wonderful Trastevere neighbourhood; also easy walk to sites and museums. The loft is fabulous and the bed the most comfortable of all my stay in Europe. Our kids were ok below in a pull out sofa bed below and a we improvised another bed on the floor. The only drawback is airflow, there being minimal windows as it is below street level and it can smell a little musty or stale if these are closed for too long. It was a very lovely place to stay.

  • "E' insensato andare a Roma se non si possiede la convinzione di tornare a Roma" di G.Chesterton
Di questa frase ne abbiamo fatto tesoro sin dalla partenza, ma a maggior ragione dopo essere tornati.
    Grazie dell'accoglienza e dell'attenzione riservata

  • We've just returned from a 4 day stay here and i've nothing but positive things to say about Marzia's apartment.

The apartment is exactly as it looks homely and impeccably clean! For us the location of the apartment was excellent, it's on a nice quiet road in a safe and trendy neighbourhood with lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from.

So I would definitely recommend this apartment.
