May 1, 2021 update: I’m now 2 weeks past my second covid-vaccine dose (I’m so glad!)

May 25, 2021 update: We switched to a new internet provider and while we aren’t seeing the promised speeds of 100 mbps we’re getting over 70 - much better than the old service.

And my pre-COVID description, when we worried about other things:

Your quiet (except when the train-whistle blows 6 blocks away) window-filled unit is on the ground level of the duplex we built in the backyard of our 1927 Craftsman home. The guest suite contains a private entrance and is equipped with a high-end queen bed, Montana-interest books, maps and hiking guides, a coffee/tea station, microwave and small refrigerator, reading chair, and dining table. There is a dedicated parking space just outside your door.

We're 1 block from Missoula's river-front trails, 3 blocks from both downtown & the University of Montana campus, convenient to the I-90 interstate exchange, and within an easy walk of Missoula's best coffee shops, restaurants, theaters, and music venues. We’re also only 6 blocks from the railroad tracks and the Spruce Street Crossing. You will hear the train whistles.

We're in the heart of Missoula, within the National Register of Historic Places "Heart of Missoula" Historic District, at the confluence of the North Hills, Clark Fork River, Crazy Canyon, Mount Sentinel, and Mount Jumbo trail systems and of Rattlesnake Creek and the Clark Fork River. We're a stone's throw from campus - an easy walk over either of two pedestrian footbridges - and a short river walk to happy hour or concerts at the Adam's Center, Top Hat or Wilma, or ice cream at Big Dipper or Sweet Peaks.

From a summer review: "We had a great stay. Downtown was really hoping last night. Apparently, 'First Friday' along with some outdoor event - music in park, raffle, booths, food trucks- and a beautiful sunset. We saw a fisherman catch a fish as he went by, a kayaker practicing near the park, and a guy surfing. Who knew????"
