Other Things to Note
The bathroom is VERY teeny and very outdated. The whole house is teeny and outdated, but the bathroom particularly so. There's a very small sink, and a shower and toilet. They are all very functional, and the water gets HOT. But its extremely basic and rustic. The door to the bathroom is a strange bi-fold door that closes, but does not lock. The bathroom is definitely not "Holiday Inn" style quality. Not anywhere close. But everything works and everything is functional. Hopefully that is not an issue for you, but if it is, no hard feelings, but this might not be the place for you to stay.
No smoking at all inside the house. No pets allowed under any circumstances. Please don't even ask. I love pets. Just not in the cottage. Ever.
Chad's cottage was awesome! Small but cozy, with an amazing collection of vinyl records. Close enough to town to enjoy everything Charlottesville has to offer, but secluded enough to give a great sense of privacy. Perfect for a rustic weekend getaway.
Chad's bed was great! I had just what I needed, a dark quiet sleep on a comfortable bed. He was very welcoming and explained all I needed to know. It's a no-frills place, low on style and amenities, with a few quirks pertaining to water and heating, but it gets the job done if you're not in a fussy mood. And vinyl record fans will be in heaven.
Chad's cottage was exactly what we expected and we couldn't have been happier. The location is great, the feel of the cottage is very cozy and comfortable and perfect for a couple or single person wanting a relaxing break from urban life. We stayed two nights and had a great time staying warm by the fire pit outside, looking at stars and cooking way too much food for just two people (it was Thanksgiving). While basic, the place had everything we needed, and the bed and couch were very comfortable. The location was great for getting to hiking spots and also wineries, which is exactly what we were looking for.
Chad's place was great - a quaint, little cottage right outside of Charlottesville. We enjoyed walking around in the 7 acre wooded area, having campfires, and listening to records! Would definitely stay here again.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at chads cottage in the woods. The place was not too far out of the city but also not too close. This was the perfect jumping off point for a walk in the Woods at the Shenandoah National Park. We also enjoyed playing some old records and love the feel of real vinyl. He has everything you need for cooking and the place was very comfortable. This is exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway in the woods. Remember to bring some wood for yourself to use in the outdoor fire pit. We even got to make smores. Chad answered all the questions we had and gave us tips on where to go. I would recommend a sushi place in Charlottesville named now and Zen.
Chad's Country Cottage Chalet was perfect for my mini birthday getaway! Perfect location, close to town, mountains, breweries, and wineries. If you're looking for a hotel feel, this is probably not the place for you but that is why I enjoyed it so much. I liked the vintage coziness along with the record player which was in use for the majority time spent there; nothing like Bob Segar and comfy couches to get into a relaxed mini vacay. Bring firewood! (And bug spray) There's a fire pit, table and chairs, we defiantly had some s'mores roasting up. The bed was comfy. Chad was a great host, answered all my questions and was informative. I would recommend staying here if you're looking for an outdoor/camp feel and want to be close to everything Charlottesville has to offer.
The cottage is tucked back into a quiet wooded area just off of Hwy 29. It's in a great location -- downtown Charlottesville is about a ten-minute drive away, and there are plenty of wineries within a short distance, also. The cottage is older, but still cozy, with a comfortable bed and a sweet little window seat in the living room that's perfect for book reading on a rainy afternoon. Nice little place -- would visit again.
