Small, rustic, private cottage.
On several acres, secluded and private, but only minutes from the airport and Forest Lakes North/Target/Harris Teeter/etc.
No internet/cable.
TV w/ basic channels and DVDs.

Cottage is 3 rooms, each room approximately 10x15.
Kitchen, living room, bedroom,small bathroom.

The space

Close to town and shopping, but on 7 acres. The outdoors are fantastic. Easy to forget how close you are to town. There's a fire pit in the front yard, and a good view of the stars most nights.

Guest access

The entire cottage and land. Approximately half an acre of cleared property, and 6.5 acres of woods.

Other things to note

The bathroom is VERY teeny and very outdated. The whole house is teeny and outdated, but the bathroom particularly so. There's a very small sink, and a shower and toilet. They are all very functional, and the water gets HOT. But its extremely basic and rustic. The door to the bathroom is a strange bi-fold door that closes, but does not lock. The bathroom is definitely not "Holiday Inn" style quality. Not anywhere close. But everything works and everything is functional. Hopefully that is not an issue for you, but if it is, no hard feelings, but this might not be the place for you to stay.

We had a great stay at the cottage. It was perfect for what we were needing. I second the suggestion of bringing shower sandals as the floor is concrete but everything else was as expected or better. He is very true to what he describes as a rustic and simple stay but there were space heaters/air conditioners, a comfy bed, a fire pit, and all the essentials. It was a great get away that is also 30 min from Monticello and 20 min from the rest of Charlottesville. Chad had great communication and was a great host. Also, he has great taste in movies and is record collection is fantastic.

PROS: Listing description is very accurate and is not misleading in any way. You truly get what you are paying for. This is a great place if you're looking for a cheap stay and don't plan on spending much time hanging out there. Chad was very communicative and helpful. I would recommend it to someone who is no-frills. CONS: The cottage is definitely very old and outdated and, to be truly honest, I avoided the bathroom as much as possible. We followed Chad's directions and didn't have any issues with the shower temp, but the size and the condition (kind of falling apart) of the bathroom itself are sub-par. I am not a high maintenance person, but I do like coming home at night to a clean and comfortable space, so if you're like me, this place probably isn't the best bet. It worked fine for the two nights we were there but I probably wouldn't come again. Also, lights were maddeningly dim and driveway is extremely difficult to find. Gave high ratings because listing is accurate, and it is my own fault for having higher hopes than I should have.

This is a great place to stay, but make sure you read Chad's description of it before you book. I found it to be very homey and and clean. I appreciated the AC (which I wasn't totally expecting), living space, and fire pit out front. You shouldn't be expecting a luxury experience, but it was very well priced and I felt like I got a bargain for what I paid. Chad was extremely communicative and it was clear that he thought through what someone's experience would be in the space. For example, he gave very detailed instructions on how to find the place (it is tucked away) and I knew immediately I had found the place using his directions. He had small tips for getting the most out of the place, and he was extremely kind and welcoming in his communication. Definitely stay here if you're looking for a get away (without having to actually be too far away from everything).

Chad was good. I did not have a problem with him. We did not stay at the cottage. We just came in, look at the place and left because we could not stay there. It it very bad. It is not how it looks on the pictures.

Chad was very responsive. We booked on 6 hours notice while on the road. The place is right off the highway but seems nicely hidden. Comfortable and not fancy.

We went to Charlottesville to visit a friend and needed a place to stay for one night. Chad's place definitely fit the bill! Would make sure you read the description so you know what the place is like. Great value for staying one night!
