The space

I rent a clean and simple apartment, located in the antique center of Naples, in the South of Italy. Naples, one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, famous for its typical food, the pizza, of course, and for its coffee, one of the traditions of Naples. If you want to see the real Italy, don't miss Naples!!!

The apartment is composed of two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom with the shower and a balcony. This is the real Napoli -- for travelers seeking an authentic experience, living the city in a "palazzo" alongside quite traditional Neapolitan families.

If you want to stay "a due passi da Spaccanapoli", and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is the place for you!

Your host will be Giacomo S. He's an old friend -- we've known each other since 2001. He is from Naples, and lives around the corner.

Parking is not easy in the antique center of Naples. The apartment is actually inside a Zona Traffico Limitato (ZTL) which means "limited traffic zone". This is great for pedestrians, it's really a lovely place to walk around. But it will be very difficult to park on my street. There are some nearby garages.

Other things to note

Very important: the apartment is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator! It's quite a climb, but most people feel like the super-central location of the apartment more than makes up for it.

Also, our neighbor has a dog. His name is Oliver. He's very friendly, you might meet him in the hallway.

Like most traditional Napoletan homes, my apartment lacks central heating. Almost no one in the antique center of Naples has it. It's usually quite warm, but when it gets cold, people hang out together in one room around the 'stufa' -- a space heater. Mine is electric, and is strong enough to keep the bedroom warm. The hot water in the bathroom works very well, so the shower provides enough heat in there.

VERY IMPORTANT: check-in to the apartment is possible *only* before 6pm. If your arrival to Naples will be later than 6pm, you will need to stay in a hotel (which we can help you find) for one night, and check into the apartment in the morning.

Please be silent after hours and respect our neighbors. This building is inhabited by traditional Neapolitan families so that should be kept in mind. Neighbors may be very curious about you and want to chat. They may come off nosy but they're actually quite friendly. That said, it's best to be brief, and if you leave them thinking you're an old friend of mine, they'll treat you more as a friend. That's the way things work in Naples :)

Excellent location in the heart of the historic city. A whole neighborhood in one building. A very nice place, if basic in it furnishings.

We enjoyed our stay in Peter's apartment. His neighbor's are very kind! Walter, his host, is the best!! His help before and during our stay was incredible. Complex is full of playful children. Just make sure you are physically able to climb 5 American flights of stairs to his apartment due to no elevator. It is very convenient to everything for walking.

Peter's flat is in a great location in the middle of Naples, and is only a short walk from the train station. The place has great value for the price you pay, especially for two bedrooms. The neighbors are friendly, and we really enjoyed our stay!

The apt was located in centro storico, about 15-min walk from the train station. It was interesting to stay in an apt and see how the Neapolitans live. Sadly, our flight from America arrived 3 hours late, and Fiorella (the apt attendant) was upset with us and let us know! After traveling for 24+ hours to get there, we hardly appreciated her reaction. Also, we tried washing clothes with a faulty washing machine and were awoken by a crowd of angry apt residents, yelling at us at midnight but it was hard to communicate with the language barrier. Peter lives in Amsterdam, so we didn't know what to do. We helped clean up and thought we resolved the issue; but Peter says he emailed us, which I never received. We won't be visiting Napoli again; but if we did, we would definitely stay in a hotel to avoid all of this negative energy and hassle. No wifi to communicate via email with Peter; no phone service as foreigners; we felt nearly helpless when any issues arose.

We had a great time staying in Peter's apartment. It is exactly as expected and a lot of fun to stay in a building with all Italians, especially when the Naples soccer team won the Italy cup!!

The flat is located in a lively house at the heart of the historical center. Perfect to start to discover the city of Napoli. The flat is simple but very comfortable and practical. Recommended stay.

I like good food and good music in a vibrant city. That's what drew me to Naples in the late 90s. After enjoying the city immensely for three and a half years, my wanderlust brought me to Amsterdam for a year, and then to Valencia, Spain for another year and a half.

Nowadays I'm back in Amsterdam, working hard...
