Jim and Linda go above and beyond for their guests! This rental exceeded our expectations. It was clean, quiet, private and very comfortable. We were able to make coffee in our room in the morning and put a few snacks and breakfast items in the refrigerator.
We used the new hot tub, too, which was a bonus for sore muscles after a long day of hiking.
The neighborhood is rolling hills of juniper and piñon with views of the desert valley on one side and the mountains on the other, so you can just go walking around and enjoy the scenery without having to go anywhere else.
We've been renting vacation rentals for about 7 years and we know how rare it is to stay in one that combines cleanliness, comfort and location, but we found all three in this airBNB. Plus, it's a great value!
We had a wonderful time staying in Jim and Linda's beautiful home outside of Ridgeway, CO. The space was comfortable, roomy, and extremely well decorated. We especially enjoyed admiring the antique cameras on the bookshelf! Located in a subdivision perched atop a mesa just to the north of Ridgeway proper, the view from the second floor of the house is simply staggering. Simply driving to Jim and Linda's affords some truly incredible views of the San Juans. The house is maybe five minutes from Ridgeway, and perhaps 15 or 20 to Ouray. If you enjoy seeing wildlife up close, a small deer herd greeted us as we walked around the property in the morning drinking coffee. Jim and Linda could not have been more welcoming or helpful. They gave us muffins and yogurt and fruit in the morning for breakfast, and recommended a wonderful place nearby for breakfast (Kate's Place - 10/10 would recommend). Overall, and especially considering the modest price, this is among the nicest places we've stayed at using airbnb. Thanks for an amazing weekend!
Jim & Linda were very welcoming hosts. Their home is situated north of Ridgway and west of Ridgway State Park in a very quiet rural neighborhood with the most impressive panorama of the San Juans (otherwise known as the American Alps). The wildlife are plentiful and quite comfortable in close proximity to people, making for an exhilarating experience if you choose to hand-feed the wild mule deer. I'd been to the area numerous times, but I'd never quite had an experience like staying up on the mesa. It's worth noting, if you're visiting in the winter, ensure you're driving a 4WD vehicle with appropriate tires (at least 'all terrain', if not legitimate snow tires). The switchbacks up/down the mesa can get extremely slippery and the consequences of driving without 4WD and inappropriate tires could be dire.
We enjoyed our stay with the Lysaghts. Jim and Linda were great hosts. Their home is in one of the most beautiful spots in the Colorado Rockies. We were in Ridgway participating in an art show. When we got back from the show on Saturday night our hosts invited us up to their second story deck where we watched the moon rise over the Rockies. The room with a separate sitting area fit our needs perfectly. It would be a great location if one wants to explore southwest Colorado from Durango to Teluride.
So glad I opted to stay with Jim and Linda!! From the moment I arrived, these folks were welcoming, glad to see me, and made me feel at ease and very comfortable as a single vacationer. And Jim was so helpful and informative to email me in advance with photos of the area, event listings and enticing me with all that I was about to experience, see and do.
The bedroom, sitting room and adjoining full bath were all larger than I expected and furnished beyond belief! And, if I needed anything at all, Linda was there to accommodate - including boiling me an egg each morning :)
We dined together, explored Corkscrew Gulch together and shared life stories, challenges, triumphs and fears. I had an incredibly amazing time in Ridgway, CO....and will return again. But mostly....to explore all the seemingly endless trails and adventures I didn't have time for on this trip, and to catch up with the happenings of my new and good friends; Jim and Linda.
Finally, Ridgway was far preferable to Ouray, (in my opinion) as far as a place to stay. It's town has amazing restaurants, a river, cute shops, nice park, and is far less touristy and yet just a few short driving miles to Ourway, when you desire more. The livestock, deer, mountain ranges and ascent into Log Hill Village was spectacular...and breathtaking; causing me to pull out the camera time and time again.
Jim and Linda are excellent hosts. They were very wiling to give pointers on the area and get us anything we needed. The room was very clean, comfortable, and just as described. The house is above Ridgway and has excellent views of the San Juans. Also, the town of Ridgway is very fun. It's charming, quirky and has great restaurants.
We would definitely stay with Jim and Linda again.
